Close. i'm only familiar through fiction. The anti hero comes across as less noble, more selfish than the hero. He makes huge mistakes, even values his own neck often, but often redeems himself. Think of Superman and John Wayne as the selfless honorable heroes, and Wolverine and Dirty Harry as anti heroes. They have noble traits, but they also have animalistic, even selfish reactions. A dirty hero. Another concept is the Sympathetic Villain, who IS a bad guy, who does evil, but when you hear his story, you can't help but feel he got such a raw deal, you understand how he became that way. Anakin Skywalker, Frances Dollarhyde. And it looks like they added Joker to the list of anti hero, when he was previously maniacal villain and sympathetic villain.

I think you do "sheep" a disservice. That will always have a mindless, cowardly stigma. Think about the people, most, who do not seek glory, but are the reasons the roads are made, dogs are groomed, kids are fed, eyeglasses are prepared. These are the bricks that make up the walls that form the building that is our technological, interconnected society. Worker bees, ants, even school fish, even a wolf pack are more appropriate animal totems. They do not want to stand out, but accomplish much working as a team, more than any one Hero. I lean anti hero, only because I have failed at sheep, peacock and hero. i'm like a rusty, fire extinguisher people ignore and doubt even works. But, when the fire starts, I prove my worth.

The ancient world is so far away, most if these stories are exaggerated or lost in translation. However, I believe I see the moral and it should be applied. You are born when and where you are born. Society has a role for you, comfort, belonging, and security. Also, tasks, laws, punishments. I believe, you should have the option to not buy. If you want to live in the woods, or a box, never work, never drive, that should be your most Human Right. To Be, Not Belong.
