  6. TheConversation you didnt get it. It has nothing to do with fearing a hard life. The quote simply meant that you should require yourself to make decisions that are not out of fear (that's why they're hard and not easy), and this will give you control of your life and eventually your future. If you make easy choices, then circumstances will do the hard choices for you. But asking for a hard life in itself and using it as an excuse as to why you made the easy choices is not just sadistic but pretty retarded. That's why even when the olympian lost everything he was still perceived as one of the happiest man alive. Actually the hard choice gave him a hard life prima facie (fear of his own life), when he could just have abandoned his beliefs. A hard life has nothing to do with your circumstances outside your own mind. Life is hard because you gave up on yourself.

It is true though that school is not for everyone, some take advantage of it more than others. Its not binary. Some just learn differently.

There is more harm than good to gaming, but at the same time, I would rather have someone play games than inject themselves with heroine. Gaming is not the real world, there are better ways to use your time. This is different from saying that, everyone should be playing games because its good for you.

  44. Ryan Edwards Elon Musk has good reasons to believe we are in a simulation. Not likely, but its possible. Simply because its possible in the future to have this technology, and if its possible in the future to have it, then what can you argue that were not in that future already being simulated. Ofcourse there is an obvious explanation out of this, that is, why are we simulating the past, whats the point of it?

  47. You really think empathy solves the problem. Empathy is a human trait. general intelligence sorts out information, it will think if empathy is a option for a specific.decision. Looking at it objectively, empathy is just a barrier to.get things done. We evolved empathy becase we need each other. Ai are different. If you argue that it cant override empathy, then this is not Ai. Its jjust a program.

  48. baasmans When I mentioned a human trait, i wasnt excluding animals. I could be more broad than that and say that its an evolutionary biological trait. You guys are missing the point of AI, you could not shackle it in chains, you could not restrict its programming, that would then be a paradox with the definition f AI.You can influence it from its infancy, but like a human would learn, it would learn to find answers on its own.

  49. Will Pack I dont think you understand natural selection. If what you mean is because humans created ai and humans are a product of natural selection then that makes ai a product of natural selection. Then your statement has absolutely no meaning.

  50. baasmans there is no such thing as artificial selection. That is simply called selection, a program selecting things based on its objective. Its like when my dog chooses what type of food to eat, and this will dictate his health, and I call that 'dog selection'. No need to create new terms for that.
