Eat gluten-free babies. They're less fattening.

If the Chinese have the only inspired word of God, then I'm in trouble, since I don't know Chinese.

@DARTH-R3VAN Danke. Und schoen.

Any religion that relies on an ultimatum of "obey or be punished" is itself inherently flawed. Obedience for a good cause won't be forced, but rather embraced by those persuasion seeks to convert.
39
ckorpi88ify When you were a baby, were you gluten free? Or were you consumed before the glutens were chemically strained out?
34
ckorpi88ify You're taking all this with more than the usual grain of salt, I see.
28
@adrienneshearer4284 Which proves that Christianity is as guilty of brainwashing as the communists are. The best belief systems contrived by humanity are the ones that don't need methods of persuasion. And isn't Christianity and capitalism just as guilty of persecuting American communists?
26
Smart people learn from everything and everyone, average people from their experiences, stupid people already have all the answers. -Socrates
24
@adrienneshearer4284 Why would a fictional book need so many translations? For the 50 or so Chinese Christians that communism didn't convert?
23
@Sarah Hodgins "... he conquered death and hatred by forgiveness and love." Needless to say death and hatred have yet to be conquered.
18
@bosatsu76 Insults are the first resort of a scoundrel.
18
@not2shabby333 The one true religion is false. All the amazing things every religion claims doesn't happen in real life. They all depend on allegations from the past that never happen now.
17
@thedukeofchutney468 What's the difference between magic and a miracle? If any event that deviates from reality can't be duplicated, it can be doubted.
14
Reality dictates that humans don't reanimate after death. To think otherwise is to disbelieve in reality.
13
I was taught the same. Explanation sounds suspiciously contrived.

I too thank Religionforbreakfast for this notification. As far as the Muslim commenter, observe how religious propaganda has so warped his intellect, that he parrots his religion's doctrine of superiority to all other faiths. How sad. His desperation of establishing his faith's antiquity reveals a juvenile propensity to boasting of who has the best god of all gods. That, my friends, is blatant immaturity. Christians exhibit the same braggadocio.

@chalinofalcone871 Hooked on phonics. How Phoenician.
9
Out of the 1001 things Christians mindlessly fear, they seem to fear this fictional character the most. Despite having had 2000 years of prior warnings that he was going to do this or that and face drastic consequences for such misdeeds.
9
@GFCProductionsx How much did he rob you of?

@ahratazaratazahla6923 The term Phoenicia is an exonym from ancient Greek that most likely described a dye also known as Tyrian purple, a major export of Canaanite port towns. The term did not correspond precisely to Phoenician culture or society as it would have been understood natively, and it is debated whether the Phoenicians were actually a civilization distinct from the Canaanites and other residents of the Levant. Historian Robert Drews believes the term "Canaanites" corresponds to the ethnic group referred to as "Phoenicians" by the ancient Greeks. -wikipedia Maybe for the same reason some people call Jews Hebrews?

@johnroe437 Belief is opinion. And if no one cares what your opinion is, why care about what your belief is?
8
@christianbohls9880 And brains to wash.

In Voltaire's novel Candide, the philosopher Martin is called the world's last Manichaeist. Manichaeism can be considered a religion as extinct as Tyrannosaur worship.

How to overcomplicate an insipid topic in one easy lesson.

Heimlich?

Lindsey is EXACTLY 30 years older than I am, and I'm 63. Got to give him credit for longevity, even if his views approximate insanity. I still have his book and scan it sometimes for error.
6
@GoatlikePersonality I survived five years of evangelical harassment because my parents thought it wise to force me to accept fundamental Baptist Christianity 50 years ago. Half a century later, and I'm still bitter. At least my mother apologized to me for that before she died. I learned to never trust anyone's religion that attempted to tell me how to think. A true religion wouldn't have abused me so bad for so long.
5
Worse is the fanatically faithful who are bizarre enough to believe all that crap.
5
You believe in impossible events outside the range of human experience and the tenets of what is considered reality by the majority of humanity.
5
@termination9353 So Mrs. Mary Christ was impregnated by Mr. Jesus Christ? Isn't it rather pointless to itemize the genealogy of Jesus in Matthew and Luke, and then lose all track in the ensuing centuries?
5
The best thing about Chick tracts is that Jack Chick died in 2016 and he won't be publishing any more Chick tracts.
5
@ButSeriouslyThough Soft dualism = malleable historic realities.
5
The duty of "basic human nature" should be to reduce one's suffering and enhance one's pleasures during our brief existences together in this realm of reality we find ourselves in. In my honest, humble opinion, which may wind up mistaken in the end. At least I'm honest enough to call my theory a theory.
5
Faith as a substitute for logic is the soap in every brainwashing scheme humanity devises.
5
I always found it peculiar how the Greek word for messiah was used for a Jesus title instead of the Aramaic word for messiah.
5
YouTube has taught me a valuable lesson. About how many crackpots and loony tunes there are in this country. Looking at you, Ben Calvert.
5
@bec928 Sure. That's what capitalism and Christianity teach us. Self-reliance and self-sufficiency. "Will I get rich, and will I get rewarded in heaven?" It's called "egoism." The universe as I understand it cannot exist without me in it.
5
For God so hated humanity, that he gave humanity no one, so that whosoever believeth in him will still perish, and never have everlasting life. There is so much inherently wrong with that overused sentence which contains more false information than the worst lies humans contrive.
4
The resurrection occurred only if we can imagine that reality was temporarily suspended. Which doesn't happen in reality.
4
You have my sympathy for surviving a mentally traumatic past.

One of the more amusing and revealing incidents in my misspent adolescence was listening to a Baptist pastor patiently explain to his congregation how the Bible passage was to be taken literally: one camel through the eye of one needle. As if he had been there and knew exactly what the words were supposed to mean. It's assumed authority such as that which convinces me that the Biblically confident are filled with deceit instead of holy spirits.
4
@termination9353 Does Mrs. Jesus know that Mr. Jesus has grandchildrens?
4
@dlevi67 Subtle wit.

The Clan of the Cave Bear worship their god Yogi, who grants them pickanic baskets during times of famine. 🐻

@allthenewsordeath5772 Sorry, dude. Ever since I was young, the entire religion has given me the impression that it was nothing more than a means to brainwashing ignorant peasants with fabricated propaganda. Christianity is so rife with inherently logical fallacies that, when studied, should be held at arm's length and face value. I could have made a better, more logical god myself.
4
@allthenewsordeath5772 I don't mind; I actually like books and consider myself well-read. But a 2000 year old debate won't be solved by either of us. I recommend to you Bart Ehrman's entire corpus in the event you choose to evolve beyond Jewish superstition and decide to learn logic. Carl Sagan was atheistic too, and Einstein finally accepted the acknowledgement that humanity's greatest intellects could never comprehend either the cosmos nor the idea of any omnipotent deity. Rabbi Laurence Schiffman admitted that the ancient Jewish word for "God" was identical for the word "nature." It's only the quaint exercise of human nature and egoism that causes humans to think their consciousness is a ephemeral ectoplasm they call a "soul" which is capable of existing for eternity and will be the subject of disposal by a Creator who gives spirits to humans and not animals that all exhibit the same survival characteristics. I'm too old and educated to ever believe in the contradictory concept of any god.
4
Which is more demented: fanatics, or the god they serve?
