And captured the entire Afghanistan in less than 2 months. And they kept the Taliban on the run for 20 years. 3 things made the USA to leave Afghanistan. 1 - They got Ben Laden. 2 - They realize the Afghans (both civilians and government) didn't want to fight for their freedom and dignity and modern life. So there was no reason to stay in that unproductive 3rd world country. 3 - The Taliban signed an agreement with the USA that they will not allow their land again to be used against the USA like in 9/11. With these factors, the USA left calmly. 1 month after totally leaving Afghanistan, the Taliban entered Kabul and the USA had to come back to evacuate Afghan civilians who worked for the USA with their families. That's what everyone saw on TV between the 15th and the 30th of August 2021. It wasn't the evacuation of USA army. They had already completely left 1 full month before.
