  2.  @3520506  I'm in the service so I'm paid only $220K at my day job, and my passive real estate business pays me at least $150K annually as well. The job offers in my email on the civilian sector are for $600-750K+ starting. I'm not married and no kids. My real estate alone pays me $12K/mo. passively and I live on $5K in the US and much less overseas. Do you still think I need to tough it out longer? I'm in my 30s.

  6. Only 3 ways to get wealthy in the US: 1. Startup (most people can't do this, odds too low) 2. Index funds and stocks (takes many decades, too long) 3. Real estate. Your call my friend.

  8.  @NickDemski  No for the ones in Hawaii I don't. I pay someone a nominal fee to place a tenant. They pay electronically through a portal to me. I take a business trip there for a week once a year. To this day I have never received the mythical "middle of the night call for a leaky toilet" lol. In fact, I can't remember the last time a tenant CALLED me

  10.  @johnkean6852  the thing you got to remember is people working in Hawaii generally are compensated more taking into account cost of living. Yeah Philippines is cheap but it's hot and humid year round and I can't spend more than a month there honestly. Montenegro also cheap but you'll run out of things to do there. Whereas in 5 years in Hawaii I still haven't done all of the 500 hikes on Oahu, been to half the restaurants, or even been to half the beaches.

  13. The reason China, Korea, and Japan's cities are not on the list is because Andrew (and lots others) are afraid to learn a Category V difficult language. But often in life, patience and hard work pays off in spades.

You can go camping and enjoy the great outdoors because the government said so! Not totalitarian right? This goes against Andrew's narrative so he will never tell you the restrictions Malaysia is placing on its citizens.

  23.  @shsummers  that's hyperbole and paranoia. The US only requires two shots and that's even for healthcare workers and military. You're already up to six when the requirement is two (2). I have two rows written on my vaccine card and that's about all I'll say. It's amazing what things people will say when they're staring to their phone and computer all day to justify their lack of taking action and mobility. There is always a solution, complaining and paranoia and doom and gloom is not my style.

  29.  @nomadcapitalist  Roger that. This doesn't help you if your 2nd passport countries had a 14 day quarantine on arrival though. I am infuriated and disappointed with how the US handled this whole thing from top to bottom. I don't think I'll be moving back or raising my kids there. Final straw.

  31.  @BasedInBrazil  it's not my problem that gringos can't learn Spanish, a category 1 language as rated by the defense language institute (DLI), "most closely related to English". According to them, it takes at least four times as long to learn a category 5language like Arabic or Mandarin compared with a category 1 language like Spanish or Portuguese, to the same level. They have 80 years of teaching the stuff to the CIA and military etc. so if anyone knows what they're talking about is them.

  34.  @tjblackmore7863  I think Andrew significantly oversells the idea of investing in overseas real estate. He fails to mention that the US has the best financing terms and best tax incentives in the world for real estate investors. Since he expatriated / he doesn't own any US real estate anymore there is definitely a bias. He's probably never talked to a US-based lender or accountant to realize these significant advantages. Buying cash makes sense for a personal residence but as an investment in 2% interest rate environment is absolutely silly.

  35.  @tjblackmore7863  I actually do own some agriculture. I will buy condos in Osaka and Montenegro but not because I think they are good investments. More for lifestyle. You can never beat the 30-year fixed low interest loan, stable rent growth, and tax incentives of US real estate.

  36.  @tjblackmore7863  I've been outside of the continental US for 10 years and have grown my US real estate portfolio to a nice 7 figures in equity. Now invest exclusively passively in private placements (real estate syndications)

  45.  @heythave  I chose Cebu. Can't think of a better place for a single person. I do travel to a new island or domestic staycation monthly. Really cheap and convenient to travel here, can book a villa at resorts for about $50-60 USD/night

  47. I have three rental properties in Hawaii and I visit there annually and I pay zero state taxes there since I am not a state resident of Hawaii, rather Alaska. I also legally pay zero on my real estate income and capital gains thanks to the US tax code. I think it's disingenuous to tell people that if you visit Hawaii for the beaches you will be paying high taxes. Simply not true.
