The USA is alienating their European allies due to these sanctions and they don't bring Iran closer to the west, in fact the actions of the USA have driven them further away and they now have more influence in the region then ever before. Sanctions don't work, it only hurts the people and make them hate the west more, there is no easy solution at the end of the day some nation is going to be pissed off one way or another.
