@Blauefrucht did ww2 not start because of the british declaring war on Germany? Germany did attack Poland but so did the USSR and Germany was taking back actual desputed lands they used to own.

Ww3 can't happen on the fly from a single region, there has to be multiple conflicts at the same timeframe. There is also the subject of political and war related goals, Russia is unlikely to start ww3 because they need trade and already have land aplenty, minor conflict for strategic regions does not a worldwar make. China, Korea, the middle-east, Africa, Antarctica and India-Pakistan are the biggest flash points for war currently, mostly for proxy conflicts.

Reinhard literaly everyone did that, western nations are exceptional because they abolished slavery and decolonized pretty willingly, you know who got the short end of the stick when that happened btw? the nations they ruled over, which is why you got millions of people from the 3rd world coming to the west because they miss their old rulers so much, except for the Congo, Leopold was the worst. ironically the nations that were also the worst are all non western, like the ottoman empire, the south american nations (though you could argue spain and portugal are western) lets not even get started on Russia or the Chinese empires. but I know why you don't care about any of those, because unlike those there is money to gain if you keep the victimhood ideology going in the west, which is why the people who don't want to actualy solve real issues are the same people that scream they are being oppresed by the evil western nations for giving them free shit I suppose.

Idk democracy is often needed for a stable and law and order nation, China is more capitalistic than most western countries, it does not care about human rights or morality, all they care about is profits and power, where as western democracies are bloated, spoiled, elderly (also like China) and being subverted from the inside, not very capitalistic. If we are to learn from China it's their capitalism and scientific progress, not it's political structure.

@nightly3225 well China is very much in Africa which could clash with say France´s interests in africa, if the USA or anyone els starts a major conflict with China those regions could flair up as well. Antarctica is likely to become more and more ice free and will thus become a regional conflict for Russia and certain European countries, including the USA, while not worth a war on it´s own it could come into dispute and motivate Russia to side with China in such a conflict. as for the middle east, factions already exist within it, mostly towards israel, the USA, Iran and Russia, if China starts playing there game there too it could become a hotbed as well. predicting the future is always tricky and never 100% accurate just assumptions and probabilities, ww1 did not just happen because of a single shot, it took years of minor conflicts, shaky alliances and a warmongering cultural elite to make it happen, the shot that lit the powder keg was just that, hell Bismark even predicted it would happen saying ´´probably some idiotic issue in the balkans would cause a massive war between the European nations´´ he was correct.

@leto.o5759 if China invaded Taiwan today it would be a regional war and the rest of NATO and Asia would respond, China would be surrounded from all sides and just starved out, they would attack from all sides and would be repelled from all sides, unless they break through all that they can't win and they know it. which is why China needs allies all over the world so when it does something like that, that's what makes a world war a world war, there has to be fighting and conflicts all over the world, during ww1 people all over the many empires came and fought in the war, in ww2 even more so with more conflicts in between some starting even before ww2 was offically going. ww3 is going to be fought in the regions that are most contested, which is Africa, Europe, Asia and on the seas.

Alex Woodward their military does that and yes that's how you catch up, you copy the best and try and improve best you can, it's how the romans learned how to make warfare boats, it's how the chinese got their new planes, it's actualy kinda stupid to try and waste billions to try and create a product which has already been improved 100 times before you started. it's why the british got the industrial revolution rolling, took them about 200 years to perfect it and then everyone copied their models and got the same results in 20 years. as for science, most scientists in the US and other western countries are actualy chinese, and China does a lot of scientific development which many western nations don't dare because of ethics rules, like gene editing. yes it's sneaky but if you think China is the only one who does it, clearly you don't know how Israel got it's nukes.

@leto.o5759 yes that has to do with property rights and law and order but that does not mean they can't have capitalistic elements, it's just that the government has the final say in who gets what, in most cases that means you can keep whatever the government allows you to keep and we would say that's not real capitalism and in a way that's true but in practice if the government lets you keep most of what you own, the illusion of property rights is maintained and unless a major crisis hits that causes the government to take everything it will go on, this is however exactly why I think China can't become the main new power in the world because once a crisis hits and their government does something stupid, the game collapses, it's a delicate house of cards for the chinese economy and government but one that could become much more stable than we see right now, already is more stable compared to 20 years ago.

@youisstupid2586 I agree we sould learn from them and perhaps our democracy is not as stable as we think it is but perhaps a mix between is optimal, though im not sure.
