@MA_KA_PA_TIE even then chemical weapons were not banned because nations could not/would not be able to use them, they did not use them because they were messy and then the enemy would use them too with more casualties on both sides, it's why we don't have a nuclear war (yet) because if someone uses them, they are all used, that's what M.A.D stand for.

Marcos very few states can produce weapons grade uranium and it's even possible to track the source of it, basically the only way terrorists are going to get their hands on it is if they get it from rogue states (like North korea for example) or if they steal it which Isis tried to do but kinda failed because it was not enriched enough. as for AI, that's also not easy to get since it uses specialized programing and is only usefull for very specific battle field situations, terrorists just don't have the time, funds or know how to use it well. the most realistic means of terrorists to gain WMD level weapons would be with chemical or biological agents, they are cheap, easy to make, hard to trace and highly destructive and with advances in laboratory gear even easier to make, technology like CRISPR could produce ebola-pox if it wanted to with enough time and funds, the results could be quite horrific, think millions not a few hundred or thousands. sadly because it's not as flashy as nuclear weapons or AI most people overlook these types of terroristic threats.

@james_chatman there will never be a post scarcity society and thinking humans could all own collecively robotics and maintain them sounds like communism and that never works, better yet it would just lead to the rich owning not just the machines but the people that the robots provide for, currency would not be in metals or numbers but in human bodies. there is no easy solution im afraid

Im joking but simple numbers don't matter what matter is military supremacy and israel in that regard has both nuclear weapons, advanced AI, anti missle shields, billions of funds, massive support from the west and US, advanced cybersecurity and a highly nationalistic and military trained population, what more could you need? The idea that they need to wage wars or acts of aggresion and nobody can fight back or that they realy need western aid is just paranoid and delusional to me. The days that israel is even threatened by anyone realy are over and they are the aggresors now, btw saudi arabia does the same and in many ways is even worse so lets not excuse one and allow the other but condem both sides and treat israel like any other nation instead of a special snowflake that can do no wrong and is weak yet somehow able to bomb, kill and annex lands if they feel like it, it's just bizzar to me and it hurts the west if we can't condem both sides in the region, after 2013 refugee crisis we don't want another US or israeli made crisis on our hands.

@ETALAL seems like an easy way to start ww3. You can't ban the weapons, unlike nuclear weapons you don't realy need highly specialized material and complex enrichment power plants, you just need AI and intergrate it into weapon systems, what you could do is set rules for AI and have international inspections that said AI is not programmed to commit warcrimes and if they don't comply then sanctions by the security council could be implemented but it's all very minimal and due to the nature of these weapons anyone could program them to commit warcrimes in a very short timeframe. In short, there is very little anyone can do about these weapons.

@yokartik Turkey was doing fine and still has a strong economy, good demografics and a strong (NATO funded) military. however it has pissed off most of it's allies in the west, the USA, israel and is making power plays in the region, meanwhile Erdogan is playing with fire and trying to piss on the legacy of Attaturk which made the country great to begin with and embracing a fundamentalist policy on islam. I don't have high hopes for Turkey, nor does anyone want them to become more powerfull, in fact Turkey within NATO is eroding the alliance from the inside, most nations hope they return to sanity but who knows if or when that's going to happen.

@masterofpuppets7295 not realy, often the "response" is a counter attack on the initial attack by israel, they do air strikes into Syria and Iraq all the time, it's not realy a secret. Frankly I don't even care if they commit acts of war or warcrimes, it's the dishonesty and lies by the media that annoy me the most.

@QWERTY-gp8fd it's not realy against all odds when the world super power and all western nations back it both with military weapons, funds and public support. besides israel is pretty much buddy, buddy with saudi arabia and other arab nations, it's only with Syria and Iran it has major issues with. have you ever even listened to some of the israeli leaderships? try Avicdor Liberman and look up some of his quotes, people in the region have a right to be worried, israel is not defenceless, it's very powerfull and it engages in hostile actions a lot in the region and the international community should be realistic and honest about it, George Bush senior did when he was in charge and they stopped misbehaving for a while, then George Bush jr came and well, we all know how that went.

@QWERTY-gp8fd you say israel had no intention to take more land but this is the same nation that took lands from syria and libanon, then promised it's not annexing land and then it fully annexed the land, it's not very trustworthy on it's word. I don't blame them for being worried somewhat of iran and mossading their nuclear scientists but come on please israel is not a small player in the region and does engage in hostile actions, it be nice if they just you know chilled a little? though some of their plans overlap with US interest so I suppose it's hard to get a read on what their next actions or plans will be or if they are behave on their interest or US interest or visa versa.

@zazzyboy8592 it's a little more complicated than that but it mostly depends on if assad stay's in power, what the USA does and how the European nations handle the situation, so far the European nations have left things largely for Turkey to deal with but that bargain is not working so well for both sides anymore and lets be honest here most refugees in 2013 were not from syria and they won't be in 2021-2024 (who knows what Biden and the USA will do)

The UN is useless, lots of nations still have chemical, biological and robotic weapons, lots of nations stopped having some of these weapons because they don't want to be invaded by the USA, not anything the UN has done, take the USA out and the UN becomes even more useless than they already are.

@hantingliu882 Syria and Palestine are somewhat hostile or rather no on board with israeli agenda together with saudi arabia and the other arab states, Turkey is trying to take over the lead in the region so might end up in Turkey sphere but to me that´s a little unlikely because it clashes with both the Europeans, the USA and Israeli interest but who knows, it´s just what I expect that would happen in the region.

I think you mean Nuclear weapons? no biggy, just found it funny. yes high velocity kinetic weapons do produce the same kinda of energy as a nuclear weapon, the problem is that is space warfare and needs very, very, very expensive funding and time to be usefull and it won't be the next nuke since it's just another form of the same type of technology but yes at some point this space warfare frontier will be the new normal but it's still in it's babyshoes and we don't know what will work and what won't.

@TosiakiS ohhhh no you don't understand, im not saying they can't get their hands on the software, that's the easy part, im just saying terrorists specifically won't be able to make much use of it because it's one thing to have the software, the other is the hardware and weapons systems to make effective use of it, the amount of time and know how you need to make it work is just not something terrorists will be bothered with, unless they are state supported perhaps? terrorists can buy a shit ton of TNT, poison, chemical weapons, explosives, make IED's or just commit acts of suicide bombing for way cheaper. now will that always remain the same? who knows? but I doubt terrorists will make much use of it, it's just not practical for their type of asymetrical warfare.

@TosiakiS explosives are much simpler than most people think, in the west you need explosive experts to difuse bombs and mines safely and minimize damage, terrorists don't typically abide by those standards and are mostly focused on how to make things explode, IED's are quite simple to make, all you need is an explosive matterial which could be Nitrate or an incendiary material which could be gas, gasoline, alcohol, methonol most of which are easy to get, and a trigger and that's basically it. some simple household chemicals can be used to syntheses some of those materials and you don't realy need an advanced chemisty degree to know how to make em, most of the know how is online and terrorist cells often copy blueprints and easy instruction manuals to spread information on how to make explosive. now if your talking about the very big explosives, like say in rockets and military grade weapons, yeah those are bit harder to make since they use multiple layers for different types of rockets and use more highly explosive matterial which is both hard to find, make and turn into weapons, terrorists don't realy need those though, a simple pipebomb, some TNT and a car or IED gets the job done. I studied chemistry for my laboratory degree, so I have some understanding on how explosives work.

@yokartik does not matter if it was real or not the end result was a political purge and reducing of individual rights, having seen parts of the event back then though only from video fotage, I got a sense that it was very poorly organised and done with haste, they did not even kill Erdogan or tried to from what I heard, which makes me wonder if it was legit to begin with. Regardless he might repeat it again to get rid of any other political enemies, perhaps shift the blame on Syria somehow and do some invading, I fully expect it from him if he loses the election or faces massive protests and opposition to his rule.

@yokartik yeah Turkey can produce a lot of good military gear, partly NATO funded but also largely domestically which makes them a big danger, second biggest military spending and army I believe in NATO, if all of the EU joined forces they would be able to beat Turkey but even then it be slow and painfull for both sides. I think everyone wants to avoid a war at all costs and perhaps naively hope that if Erdogan is gone that Turkey will go back to "normal' but I have my doubts he is starting to look more and more like a certain austrian painter from the 1930s, he even keeps calling western nations "nazi's" while asking Turkish people to have more kids in said countries, seems like projection to me

@yokartik yeah I know the divide between seculare turkish people and conservative block but I think Erdogan is the type to make sure his side always wins, he pretty much already did that and many people said the same thing about our austrian painter before it all got out of hand, though I suppose it's a lot harder to do now than during the 1930s. As for NATO, yeah a lot of nations get weapons too but some nations have limits on them and their efforts are largely focused on the flash points from during the cold war, so Poland, baltics, Turkey, Israel, South Korea, Japan so on so I think the rules are somewhat different. I hope your right though but im just not that sure just yet.
