Back then Nazi Germany wasn't the epitome of evil it is today. Yes, it was bad, a dictatorship, but one of the many, still no war, no Holocaust. The title of evil of all evils was given to USSR
23
Still, bit sad that dogs pigeons and other animals, who had never to do with war, were brough to our fight, on one side or another
16
Funny thing is, smallpox was more dangerous
7
Metternich himself recognized that
5
@dusk6159 Yeah. Like someone said above, Cavour didn't have Prussian power behind
5
Mmm...no, it's mostly because of a series of factors, among which: tiredness, numerical inferiority on some salient points etc...etc...
4
@augustuscaesar8287 New Deal helped a lot, since investment were at a time low, so much for Smith's idea of self adjusting economy
4
Guys, don't attack him, he wanted to praise Garibaldi
4
Fouch, Joffre, Haig...
3
Nah. Italy won
3
Mori was a great man
3
@rathinmajumder441 rooting AH army, taking a city, sending AH in such disarray they had to call Germans...yeah, it was not such a big issue. I wonder what sources tell you that....must be Austrians or English....the ones who empathize small victories without meaning like Somme
3
@mebsrea no, Italians fought to save Italians from Trentino and Friuli Venetia Giulia from cultural annihilation
3
Atta boy.
3
Did he told you that it was not more industrialised than the North and had an higher illiteracy?
3
As a State Italy is younger than USA, as a Nation it is centuries of years old
3
@neutronalchemist3241 He was a socialist but despised communists. He wanted spcial reform but take from others just for the sake of it seemed wrong to him He had not an high education but he was by no means stupid
3
@neutronalchemist3241 I don't think he knew English, not for what I read, but French, Spanish and maybe Portuguese yes You are right, he was educated, but I think his education wouldn't go as far as a high school, but only because he started working young, and he was not stupid, as I said, just didn't have high class ( high bourgeois or noble) education but he had less scruples to say what he think and was less hypocrite
3
And no, Cavour aim was unifying Italy, not just extend territory
3
They were both horrible ideologies
3
@xxviiiottobre No, Italy was fascist as it has fascist government but those who fought fought for Italy and the king, not Mussolini
3
I think it's time for you illiterate halwits to open a book and STUDY
3
You are wrong. Italy is one
3
No he wasn't
3
@thebender7458 Yes, but still...Italy won
2
@sheadoherty7434 Thank God and thanks Jenner
2
@rathinmajumder441 Actually the 6TH battle was a win for Italians
2
Well, he had his lacks, like everyone....
2
Explain
2
12. The majority won by Italians btw, despite Cadorna
2
I don't know if he was really larger than life, but he sure as hell tried to be! 😂
2
@mebsrea Ahahahahahaha bs, AH was aiming to replace the Italian culture with German or Slav, Italy respected Alto Adige traditions. History and Truth talk: AH betrayed many times the alliance with Italy thus voiding it, Italy simply used the chance to free the Italian people and lands from Austrian clutches before the Italian culture was erased, though not before making at least one attemp at peace. Too bad AH government was arrogant, scornful, self important and overconfident in its military power, too bad that time nor betrayal nor Germany couldn't help and was Austria faced an humiliating defeat like the worthless state it was
2
Nope he wasn't
2
He wasn't a great general but those tactics were the same in uk's and French army
2
Well true. Cavour was the mastermind, a statesman. But even he couldn't have unified Italy alone. It was an effort from everyone
2
Source? I bet it's Bocca(LOL)
2
@augustuscaesar8287 Roosevelt, like most men of his time, was racist or prone to indulge in racism to appeal some electors, true. But his Deal saved post recession America ( with an help of the war). Keynesian policy are necessary when economy is in a slump: there is no such thing as the "Invisible Hand"
2
And it's nothing compared to smallpox!
2
Yet Italians managed to win the majority of Isonzo Battles
2
Hotzendorf might want a word about cruelty and incompetence. Btw, Italy kicked your....
2
@drinmaliqi9531 What?
2
Another thing: Italy destroyed AH army BEFORE the dissolution, which was caused, among others things, by the military defeat
2
@jezalb2710 What do you mean gone?
2
Only one DOCUMENTED. Who knows how many times this despicable trick was used. And I read 2% of people who took variolation died
1
AHAHAHAHAHAHA Italy won WW1 DESTROYING AH, Entente couldn't defeat Germany, who cannot win a war, 3 vs1 but what could you expect from a coalition who had the notoriously surrendering people, aka the French, the people who ran and hid and never won a fight alone, the English ( the only ones to lose against people with spears and who got kicked by Afghans left and right) and those who will eventually lost against men in black pyjamas. Three PATHETIC nations Lol
1
@alviseossena3238 Italy destroyed AH army actually
1
@alastairbrewster4274 Ethiopia used musket, Zulu only spear! 😂😂😂 uk and France are ridiculous, their war History is pathetic, Italy 2000 years ago dominated most of them and kept winning and dominating in Middle Ages throughout marine power when those two were getting their behind handed to them!🤣🤣🤣 France and uk are only good at killing civilians and hide or surrendering!
1
@demonprinces17 Ahahahahahaha nope. Italy sent an army in France, thanks to them Germany in 1918 didn't take Paris
1
@demonprinces17 Austrian troops were humiliated by Italians troops. Italy is the only one who destroyed its opponents, but uk and France, being the arrogant good for nothing they are (even with huge Italian's help they could not defeat the Germans) didn't respect the pact, as they usually do. It's typical of them to take what they haven't earned and against Germany they didn't earn squat
1
@demonprinces17 Because French and English are treacherous and never keep their promises
