  2. I can't be the only person whose main problem is lack of compatibility. I'm yet to meet a woman who has similar values, world views, interests and hobbies and lifestyle as me. Remove sex and kids. Why be with a person that you have nothing in common with? What do you talk about? What do you do together? How do your lives progress together? Now I'm sure there are such women, but they seem to be very rare and I sure haven't met one.

  3. The problem isn't that there will be fewer people, but that there will be many more older people than young ones. If you think taking care of children is expensive, just wait until you have to take care of old retired people, be it directly or indirectly through taxes. And with the current birth rates in europe and north america, in the future young people will have to take care of 3-7 old people per 1 young person. That is catastrophic.

  5. @thetaxgawd GDP takes into a count the money the governments print. Another example is if I sold you a chair for 5$, then you sold it back to me for 5$ and we repeated that 2 more times, we just added 30$ to the GDP, but we've effectively done nothing. The purchase and selling of stocks also goes to the GDP and that's not productive at all either.

  8. Homes in cities where there are many jobs and many types of jobs actually cost 9-12x the median yearly salary, it's 7x if you look at places with next to no population and work. Back in the day when we weren't so centralized that wasn't a problem.

  9. The same applies to loans people, the same applies. If you have to take a loan, then you can't afford it. Why do you need to take a loan to have a roof over your head is the real question. And it's time people stopped being so passive about it.

  10.  @Max-fv3uw  School teaches you to memorize information, repeat it and forget it and when it comes to math you just learn the algorithms for solving the problem and that's it... -_- If school actually taught you properly you'd be a highly skilled and knowledgeable expert after 12 years, easily being qualified for a medium position job, not just a bottom position. If private courses can do it in the span of 1-4 years, why can't schools in 12-20?

Now we don't because we are stuck in big cities with terrible, cold, alienating social norms and parents don't let their kids wander off outside, people don't let people get into conflict with each other and school is a forced social environment that actually ruins your skills in the real world, it's ok for work social skills, but not for real world social skills.

  15.  @katiemylady76  I never go to clubs(only on birthdays, namedays and such). I only go to bars with friends. A big problem is that there are no good 3rd places left to be out in my city and in the capital, where I've lived and will soon live in again, everything is paid. I usually go to conventions, play sports(basketball, football), hike, biking, play guitar, got into bowling recently. I also play video games and and am a movie buff and go to conventions. I also like swimming, climbing and airsoft, but don't have the chance to do those often. That's where I meet most of the people and it's true that the vast majority are men. I also go to the gym(and have for 2.5 years) which is again majority men and women are usually old aunties keeping in shape. Plus I don't think it's appropriate to hit on women in the gym. I don't go there to be flirted with, so I act like I would like to be acted towards. I'm a programmer, so you guessed it, vast majority men yet again. That's where the problem lies. My interests do not align with women, as seen by the fact that what I like to do surrounds me with men and very few to no women. And that's not even touching on values and world views.

  18. The problem is that we are not free, we are more limited than in the past 80-100 years... Governments are more authoritarian than they were after the fall of monarchies or even before that. There are more restrictions than ever, more bureaucracy and even unofficial aristocrasy(it's quite official). We are raised to be weak, incapable and unhealthy. They think that if they give us a room, food, clothing and toys that they are being excellent parents. And you can no longer just get good at a skill and find a job, you need to waste your youth, 12-20 years of your life in the authoritarian institutions which produce useless people and damage you physiologically and mentally, kill any motivation, inspiration and individualism and make you conform like a soul dead, mindless drone... And with mega corporations being a thing for the past 30-35 years you can't compete with them...

  19.  @Peter-mj6lz  can you rephrase yourself, not sure what you said exactly. But if you are asking how long it would take for this to happen? It's already happening and it will get as bad as I'm describing it in about 80-200 years depending on the birth rate of the country. The lower, the faster.

  20.  @Vladi2102 yes, values and morals are first, but you also need to have a little bit of common interests and life style. And of course there is personal time and I'm not searching for a female version of myself.

  21. @een2158 I can have a conversation no problem, but it's rarely anything I'm interested in. Usually it's TV shows, social media(which I lack), what some famous person did, traveling, what she window shopped, fashion and whatever is trendy at the moment. We also never get to do anything together, no actual activity. And it's not just hobbies and activities, but also values and world views. If she doesn't want to have kids before we get old(much before 30), or to live a more physically active life and a life outside the big annoying cities for example. I've had a few that even laughed at those ideas.

  22.  @rjmunster9600  I do go out, but in a small town there aren't many young adults left, and again I don't go to bars and clubs, which is all there is here, outside of gyms, cafes and sport fields. And nobody said it wasn't a me issue.

  23. Young people will have to take care for 4-7 retired old people, be it directly or indirectly through absurd taxes... enjoy that.

  24.  nicolasgirard2808  The funny thing is that my country has went from 10-11 million population down to 6.5 million from 1991 to 2024, while having 3-4x more homes in cities compared to 1991, yet the home prices relative to the median salary are 9-12x as well. 36-40%+ of homes in cities are empty. It's not supply and demand. It's companies and rich people buying them out, or straight up building them and then using algorithms to determine the maximum price they can get, which is a gray area, but technically price fixing...

And I'm pretty sure I've done most easily and not so easily accessible activities out there, outside of extreme-ish sports, which aren't accessible, but I want to learn and try. But I'm always open for suggestions and will do anything that doesn't involve getting wasted and dancing...

  29.  @darrenbaxter9980  Also 30 years ago isn't today. My grandpa and grandma had very few things in common, but they enjoyed their company and were together. And my grandma was a doctor, my grandpa at the time had barely started working. They were together until he passed away for over 50 years.

  33. @tulegenov7431 I have over half a dozen female cousins, I've done all the shopping, fashion, photography, dancing, growing flowers(and beans and such), sewing, badminton, pottery. I don't mind most(dancing and shopping isn't for me at all, neither is traveling), but they are not things I look forward to, I wouldn't do them myself. I do like handball though. I'm always open for activities.

  36.  @kngxn  There won't be last generation of old people, with the current birth rates there will always be a ton of old people relative to the young population. Also with a lower population there will be less demand for production, so fewer jobs. The problem with how companies treat and pay their workers comes from the lack of physical consequence for them doing so.

But any relationship be it friends, or life partner, has to be based on common values, views and in this case life style as well, along with at least a couple common interests. That's as basic as it gets, correct me if I'm wrong.

If the median home in populated areas costs more than 2-3x yearly median salaries that's a bad economy. If the median car costs more than 0.75-1x median salaries that's a bad economy. If regular clothing exceeds 5-10% the median salary that's a bad economy. If electricity and water bills exceed 1% of the median salary that's a bad economy. And we are talking NET salary here, miss me with the Gross.
