@MyRedmamba With the current birth rates at some point there will not be enough production for all the money in the world to get it for you, people will start keeping it for themselves.

@mcculloughmethod6912 Tell that to the boomer ran governments. Also this problem will become big in 80-200 years if the birth rates don't improve, not right now. But in 40 years it will be have become a real problem.

@MyRedmamba Sure, but in 80-200 years the production wouldn't be enough for money to matter, so you'll have to produce for yourself at all ages.

@kitataki2296 very much so. I hope automation helps us, but we will have to see if we manage to advance it enough in time and then who will own it? Corporations? worse, the governments? So the ownership of said AI/automation will have to be solved or we will get bread crumbs.

@minigunner1218 The silent generation had as many kids as the previous generations, the difference is that due to modern medicine the babies didn't die. Until the 1940s/1950s you needed to have 6-9 kids if 1-3 of them were to survive. Infant mortality dropped significantly. My grandpa had 5 bigger brothers and a younger sister, out of the 7 of them, only he, his sister and the oldest brother survived infancy. He was born in 1941. 4 of his older brothers died before he was even born. That's why africa has a ton of kids too, but we gave them modern medicine(it starts with V, but youtube will delete the comment it I even spell the word) and now their babies don't die, but they still procreate like they do.

@liljohnnyjoker From what I read most Americans don't actually do that. No 401ks, no roth IRAs or whatever, most do the bare minimum. And again what's the point of money if you can't buy anything with it.

@ato96 Yep, it's hard. From what I've read, online dating should be the way to go for women, since the vast majority of app users are men, so you can pick and choose.(Haven't used one myself, I like irl interactions, not online ones) But if you want an early bird, gymrat, sober, who isn't deep into politics, go early to the gym, I know cuz I am one. Still flirting in the gym isn't the best, but that's your best bet. But IDK what you mean by plant-based.

@skatetrooper5285 Since I've lived in the capital and in my home town, you are absolutely correct, the culture is actually different, but at the same time the culture in the capital is very degenerate, while in my home town people from the ages of 18-35 have left to go abroad or to bigger cities.

@chrisknight880 Up to the age of 15-16 or so(10 years ago), girls were absolutely willing to do many more activities. Play different games, even some sports, go on hikes, etc, etc. After that they pretty much thought of it as either lame or "man hobbies" and with time they ended up with very few hobbies. Again that's not all women, but seriously it can't be every woman I meet if it wasn't common... But it wasn't just girls, women were more up to it. I have a dozen female cousins most of which older than me or the same age as me and I saw the change in them too... I have no freaking idea what happened. While guys either remained the same, or the desperate for relationships(or sex) ones became the same, since they tried to force being relatable to women/girls, while hiding the few hobbies they still have/had.

@xg2513 Sadly that's the case. And I too still haven't found someone I'm compatible with, starting to wonder if I ever will. If I and a few of my friends were gay I think I'd be set, because I have a few very good friends, that I've been friends with for 10-20 years with, that share most of my values and world views, along with common interests and lifestyles. When it comes to monogamy, I don't think it's a huge issue in my country yet, but year after year, it seems like casual relationships are replacing monogamous ones.

@geovanilopez5459 and on top of that return rates have plummeted from most sources. Otherwise, 70-75% makes so much more of a difference compared to 50%. To hit that 25x times yearly expense in savings, you only need 8 years at 75%, if you are aiming for 33x times, then it's 11 years. At 50% savings, it takes you 25-33 years.

@turtleanton6539 to what that I have said are you replying? I'm an excellent example of why the education system doesn't work. I had excellent grades in both school and university and if I didn't go to private courses for 2.5 years and didn't self-educate like mad, I wouldn't have a job right now like most of my university colleagues that solely relies on university. And my major is in CS and telecom. My younger brother did what I knew was the right thing to do and got an engineering jobs right after high school, no university, just private courses and self-education for a few years. He now earns over the average salary at the age of 19.

@ravenknight4876 Ah because when you finished high school you were an expert engineer, or doctor, or lawyer, or tradesman, or accountant that got a middle position job and got paid above average salary from the get go and you had nothing to learn on the job itself... of course... my bad... I have friends that started going to private courses and self-educating from the age of 10-12 and by 16-18 they got an engineering job, yes DURING HIGH SCHOOL and straight out of high school. They ditched school as much as possible to do so and the funny part is they had more free time and a better social life. My brother did what I told him and he got a programmer job straight out of high school, but he had to go through a 2 year private course and master, not just read, master a total of almost 4000 pages worth of books.

@QWERTY-gp8fd Until the age of 9-10 not really, after that I started thinking. And don't blame me for my parents, I didn't choose them. If it were up to me, I would have wanted to be raised as an adult from the get go.

@MegaSirPsycho They don't teach you any skills, they give you a shallow, easy, simple book for each subject and make you repeat its content on the test, exam and so on... If I'm in the wrong, then why aren't people out of high school experts in a field or two? How come private courses can teach you skills, but school can't? All my university colleagues that didn't go to private courses, nor self-educated through real world books, are still jobless 3 years after graduation...

@ravenknight4876 Or skip school entirely, and use the extra time to learn even more and become even better... -_- School and university should produce professional experts, there is no excuse for them not to, if mere private courses can do it in a fraction of the time.

@benjaminmeusburger4254 The majority of people over the age of 70 can barely take care of themselves. My grandma is 85 and a few other 70+ year old relatives and can still take care of themselves, but that doesn't mean that the majority of people are like that. Data points aren't a statistic.

@abrin5508 yup, and in time the numbers will invert if the birth rates don't increase. Hopefully automation is in full force by then, but then we need to solve the ownership of said automation. Bread crumbs are not something I want.

@minigunner1218 It was a factor, but a small one. My country was on the losing side of WW2 and we still had a baby boom, but we "corrected" it faster. Now we are half of the population(also due to m!gration) that we were 30 years ago and we have an aging population. Right now we have top 4 birth rate in the EU, but still way below replacement and people leaving for other countries doesn't help either.

@ankan1627 It's not simply a supply and demand issue, it's an oligopoly issue. My country halved in population in the last 35 years and we built 3-4x more homes, but they went from 2-4x median yearly salaries in the 90s to 9-12x median salaries today, while 60% of the homes are empty in the capital and big cities. They buy out, or straight up build the homes and use software algorithms with regional income data to price the rent or mortgage maximum possible for two median incomes. But yes, I think taxes are too high nowadays.

@tinyliny4ever Exactly correct. If we wanted to reduce population levels it must be done with a birth rate of 1.8-1.9, anything under that causes massive demographic issues and the problem is most countries are hovering around 1-1.5. And now we need at least a 2.5 birth rate to fix things for the next 3-4 decades, but the way things are going the birth rate will only go down it seems.

@chibu3212 Yup. Otherwise sure we can reduce the total number of people, that will only impact technological advancement and production, but it will not cause us problems As long as the age demographic is good.

@liljohnnyjoker I have good job that I like, soon I will have my final material purchase that is not a home, and even now while buying crap I spend no more than 70% of my salary. The problem is that I can't afford a home. A 30 year loan is an absolute nightmare.
