Although I know he’s a writer, the impression I got from the clips was that he was story telling. When expecting simply expressed facts and strong feelings about his wife, we got what seems almost like a performance. That made me think he was guilty but can’t be sure, if that’s the way he always expresses himself. There are so many different facial expressions, lots of hand gestures and changes in voice, eg pitch and volume and he doesn’t come across as someone in quiet shock, either because his wife died or that he’s been locked up. As Jesus said though, time has passed. So if not still in shock, why was he so very, animated ? It’s quite a leap along the continuum.
Watching and listening to him, I felt that his behaviour was to fill up a listener’s mind so that less questions, less doubt, would occur. He constructs or delivers it all and quickly, too, possibly to leave no room for a listener to have other thoughts ? His animated story might stick in the mind as being what the reality was.
When he said, “ That’s gone”, it could be a means of making a listener comply, ie forget a possible murder but pay attention to everything else being said…like a distraction. He enforces a closure ?
If he meant that the connection, between him and his wife was gone, it still seems dismissive, to me. Did he mean as he sort of said, that only warmth and contact matter but neither are possible with her now ? Still, seems dismissive. He wants contact with his children though, which would necessitate being released. ( except for visits).
So if we pare down his possible performance, what’s left ? I think but of course could be wrong:
‘ The past has gone. My future should be with my children, ie out of jail. I’m very upset about being in jail. I want sympathy. That, has made me cry. ‘ It might indeed be natural to hope for a future but beneath his very animated behaviour, I sense an ability to be very self, focused and perhaps has a habit of having often been successful at convincing people via story versions of reality. He’s a writer but perhaps sometimes another term for that process would be ….’ unreality’, ‘ fiction’ or even ‘ lies’ ?

The last leader of the Labour Party ( in America they’d be Dems) in my country Wales, UK, didn’t declare any sanctuary cities. He declared Wales itself, to be a sanctuary country. All of it. People are flooding in. Housing, free health care, free dentistry, schools, social benefit payments etc plus lots of jobs that local people used to do. Then there are illegal immigrants too. Thousands of them, sometimes a thousand a day, coming into the UK. There are penalties for complaining, both online and in person, even when there’s been yet another fatal attack on anyone, including on children. That’s what America was heading towards. No choice, huge votebanks deliberately being increased to eventually keep the wrong people in power permanently, not being safe increasing, higher taxation to pay for the incoming, free speech fading etc. One in twelve people now living in London is an illegal immigrant.
Additionally, pensioners, education, farmers, teachers and more, are having their income reduced. Farmers will be losing their farms so that big companies can have the land. Meanwhile, millions and billions of pounds are being given to other countries. Seeing the negative reaction of some Democrat supporters eg from most of the msm in America, to plans and actions to protect their own people from all that, is astonishing. Some very wealthy politicians who became wealthy from going into politics, some wealthy showbiz people, some wealthy msm people - an elite, cushioned from problems faced and paid for by everyone else. People being wealthy isn’t the problem, if they earned it but it seems to be that those who did very little to earn it, are amongst the fiercest opponents of common sense. Why would they care. It doesn’t affect them.

So unpredictable - what might upset them at any time. I mean things not connected to you. An actual quote, “ It’s raining ! I want to go out ! What are you going to do about THAT, eh ?”. As you said, when they feel that they’re not in control of the universe, they batter someone else verbally usually, into exhaustion…for hours and hours, even a few days. Anything, even trivial, can set them off. Then, when the other person looks very unhappy, they perk up, smiling. A vampire, might be more fun, frankly.
