  10. There is one problem with the current Indian technical educational system. The textbooks are all set in a different time zone and the case studies do nothing to develop a habit of thinking about national needs. And then these students grow up to be managers of research programs and so it goes. Engineering faculty should go the extra mile to attune the minds of the students to India's national needs by developing national priorities as case studies. There is also a need to inculcate a precision and accuracy mindset right from school age with a low tolerance for 'good enough'.

Most pubic health announcements seem to suggest washing hands frequently, not touch surfaces you don't need to touch, use the back of hands and not the finger tips for rubbing eyes - that too if absolutely necessary, self-quarantine yourself if it feels like you are coming down with something (6 feet away from others seems to be a safe distance) and seek medical attention, cough or sneeze into your sleeve, and don't miss meals or sleep. Avoid shaking hands for a couple of months until this settles down - people will understand. Finally, the time-honored Indian home remedy of a glass of hot milk with turmeric works well to provide relief from symptoms of the common cold if taken early.

  27.  @jameslan4514  I don't belong to the pharma industry. I also don't think the diagnostic labs are refusing to do the tests. May be follow the example of the great society America where GM insisted on a proper contract from the government before embarking on making ventilators. Don't kill the golden goose.

  28.  @tigre1857  The 'free testing' is underwritten by a congressionally passed law that sets aside money to reimburse for the tests. All the details are not clear yet but what is clear is that the US supreme court did not pass an order that all labs should test for free.

  29. Arnab, you heard the viewers, and have been hearing them for years. If you are set against muting others, set others' volume to 50% when you give the floor to a set of speakers. Producers can practice with archival debates to see if this on-the-fly lowering of sound is feasible. Otherwise, the noise makes it hard to hear what is being said, and sets a poor example of public debate for any school children who might be watching.

  50. New Waqf act is about justice for all and favors to none. There are significant national security issues with such concentration of public wealth in an autonomous entity. The BJP has to do a better job of managing public perception by bringing the corruption in Waqf to light.
