So heartening to see bagged food being distributed by the security personnel. Many thanks to these Corona heroes!

Good fences make good neighbors.

If there is a Prime Minister's relief fund, send money to it. You don't need to stir out of your house.
2
The quality of this discussion is amazing!
2
BJP kept them limited to two digits.
2
Saying 'circuit' is grating on the ear. Please think of a more euphonious word to describe the parikrama.
2
To the shriman at 17:00 who seems to imply that the (NYT/WaPo/Guardian/Independent/ Al Jazeera) ecosystem outside India exists as a counterpoint to the BJPs ecosystem in the country: that equation is just so disturbing at many levels.
2
Would you ask Walmart and Amazon India to open up their warehouses of food for free to people in this hour of need?
2
This is absurd. It is like imposing a special tax on the small diagnostic businesses that the country needs the most now. If it is not 'free' but it will be reimbursed later, call it 'on credit' and then debate the practicality of imposing that on every small business each with their unique cash flow situations.

Thank you for a timely episode. Most pubic health announcements seem to suggest washing hands frequently, not touch surfaces you don't need to touch, use the back of hands and not the finger tips for rubbing eyes - that too if absolutely necessary, self-quarantine yourself if it feels like you are coming down with something (6 feet away from others seems to be a safe distance) and seek medical attention, cough or sneeze into your sleeve, and don't miss meals or sleep. Avoid shaking hands for a couple of months until this settles down - people will understand. Finally, the time-honored Indian home remedy of a glass of hot milk with turmeric works well to provide relief from symptoms of the common cold if taken early.

There is one problem with the current Indian technical educational system. The textbooks are all set in a different time zone and the case studies do nothing to develop a habit of thinking about national needs. And then these students grow up to be managers of research programs and so it goes. Engineering faculty should go the extra mile to attune the minds of the students to India's national needs by developing national priorities as case studies. There is also a need to inculcate a precision and accuracy mindset right from school age with a low tolerance for 'good enough'.

"Rahul says 2 businessmaen do all the business. He forgets that one family and one family alone has ruled and further want to rule for ever india"

Why can't Mr. Goswami nurture a culture of more such conversations at Republic? The other kind (the fish market kind), may be good for business and TRPs but are ultimately damaging to the India that he clearly loves and her social habits.
2
Good forbid no one catches corona but if they do, I hope they follow the exemplary behavior of Sumiti Singh!
2
Can govt compel all cell phone operating system providers (Google, Apple, others?) to make it mandatory that Aarogya Setu app be running for the phones to be able to make and receive calls and SMS?
2
24:45 Sneeze into your sleeve, please. Bless you!

"Why does Bhagwat not open his mouth on the Sambhal riots against Hindus."
2
Doesn't need to, according to current law.

Is The Rajiv Gandhi Foundation a front for money laundering? I hope not.

Regardless of what happened here, any review of the Corona/COVID-19 crisis will have to look at govt failings in talking with the poorest of the poor. I don't believe that now such networks exist to collect and relay information either from the government to the poor or vice versa. Designing such systems will take some thought to get through language and accessibility barriers.

70% ethanol-30% water (surgical spirit is another name for ethanol), 70% isopropyl alcohol-30% water (rubbing alcohol is another name for the mixture), or 10% bleach work well for wiping surfaces to kill most germs including many viruses. Check the bleach container to make sure that it is within expiry date.

I used to watch this show for righteous indignation that Mr. Goswami appeared to have against corruption. But the cure appears to be worse than the disease and has become tiresome. A pity, because he appears to be someone who genuinely cares for social good.

This is a serious threat with military-like escalation and is no longer an 'ethnic clash'. The discussion cannot be just on new channels. The government has to raise the profile of the threat in the Parliament so that the public is prepared for the necessary counter actions.

Someone like Aamir Khan is an exceptional talent that will shine anywhere. Salman Khan or Saif Ali Khan on the other hand, I have my doubts about. The less said about the flaky imitation artist Karan Johar, the better. Strictly commenting my opinion as a movie goer.
1
Now I understand why Karan Johar is blamed for Sushant's death. He carefully coordinated set of blows to Sushant's psyche. I hope that Shri Johar doesn't get away with it and pays for his actions with his own career.
1
He reminds me that knowledge does not equal wisdom and that not everyone can wisely wield the power that comes with knowledge for public good.

Block all apps, and the insertion of Chinese news videos into Indian news papers. Don't block the traffic of physical goods like raw materials that are value-added in India.

‘Wades in’ suggests suggests lack of caution. In this context, Hindu Mahasabha is a legitimate stake holder and so joined the debate.
1
Stop using the terms very important person (VIP), and very, very important person (VVIP). Societies around the world are discovering in times of COVID-19 who the real VVIPs are - nurses, doctors, sanitary workers, ambulance drivers, food sellers, and many others.
1
It is remarkable that the billions of dollars of investments India made in Afgh similarly went down the drain overnight. Is economic warfare too, it seems.

It is fascinating that the usual WaPo/NYT/Guardian/BBC Al Jazeera coterie headlines that typically start with, 'In India police watch on as frenzied mob lynches..' are not to be found anywhere about Palghar lynchings of sadhus. Normally, they have ultra sensitive hearing when it comes to any kind of disturbances in India.

1:02:40 the definition of a sheepish grin.

Don't get into the 'western' habit of hyphenating Bharat's relations. We need good relations with both China and USA and that can even help tamp down the mutual distrust between those two. Let Bharat's relation with each country stand on its own without, without "With an eye on China.." or "With an eye on America.." kind of tricky headlines that the 'west' practices. Makes for a safer world.

Came here seeing the name of Mr. Jayaram Ramesh in the title. It is too headache-inducing to actually hear the show so it is on mute and I am averting my eyes from the psychedelics, but just want to show my support to Mr. Ramesh for his brave statement of truth. Of course the Congress pit bulls will be after him for "betraying their cause by helping the natives". I sincerely hope that this snowballs into a reformation of the Congress.

Love the signature music!

@mathermathew5619 Dear Mather Mathew, my apologies for letting anger get the better of me in my response. I will be deleting my response to your comment. I still urge you to think if your comment was appropriate or appreciative at a moment when the nation is celebrating a significant technological achievement by the team lead by Dr. Sivan.

You can't leave it here. Ask for a paper trail that shows that it was in fact an error and at the stage of gazette notification.

This is a carefully thought out plan in the farmer's benefit - the most important component being economies of scale realised by promoting cooperative farming. It will be a tragedy if farmers shoot themselves in the foot by continuing to protest the new laws.

This deserves a Cut the Clutter by senior journalist Shekhar Gupta.
1
I hope he emerges whole when he does and not his body.
1
Govt needs to take this out of the andecote and one person's initiative and create a systematic 360 degree review of all foreign involvement in Bharat govt departments.

How many patients can the plasma from one convalescent patient treat? If this works, how many hospitals in a state may be able to collect the blood, process and store the plasma?
1
What is significant here is the fact that the Modi-hostile person had easier access to NYT - 'western' elite institutions are mostly opaque and inaccessible to even someone with the stature of Shri Swapan Dasgupta.
1
You can wear a dhoti and ride an airplane, or a bullock cart, no? Is 'western christian outfit' a required uniform to live in the modern world?
1
Yogi ji did not say Hindu need to stay united, he said Bharateeya need to stay united. Irony died when Owaisi labeled a call for unity as divisive. Spinning that as a call to Hindu alone, is shameful.
1
Dr. Krishna Ella deserved a quick apology for the glitches in the audio connection.

@danialredcliff8867 Not possible. They will take others with them, like that religious leader from Punjab who infected thousands.
1
It is too late for "the government will look into it and take action", after the money has been siphoned off. India needs to sit down with finance experts to devise a system that will red flag mega loan applications before or as they happen, using some good old knowledge of financing chicanery scenarios, and AI/machine learning tools.

Looks like the proprietors of the Congress party think of the whole of India as their private estate.
