Jeremy couldn't form a coalition government, because among other things, the then leader of the Lib Dems (a very silly woman) didn't want to. The Lib Dems, come to think of it, are much more likely to form a coalition with the Labour party's current leader (because he's not too "radical" for them) in exchange for PR. 😏

  4.  @bbcskych4  Starmer, when he ran for the Labour leadership, and afterwards, promised, among other things, to nationalise "rail, mail, water and energy." The Tories are finished, because of the energy price hikes. If Starmer gets in, we must force him to hold to his original promises.

But then Corbyn was the elected leader of the Labour Party... What SHE MIGHT have countenanced, was if Corbyn had said, "You can be the leader of the coalition against May!" But naturally that was a nonsense idea, because Labour were by far the largest opposition party. The convention is that the leader of the largest party in the coalition is its leader. Yes, Swinson or whatever her highly forgettable name is was silly; and it just shows you how many politicians are all about ego and vainglory... 😏

  14. Yes: the press WERE pretty hard on Ed too, weren't they? 😏 (Though he, unlike Corbyn, is no socialist!) The press WERE pretty antisemitic towards Ed, bacon sandwich jokes and all, not that the Jewish Chronicle called them out on it.. And they were antisemitic towards Ed's late father Ralph Miliband, though it was all under the rubric "your dad was a Communist"! They were SO horrible about it, that Jeremy Corbyn felt obligated to step in and set the record straight. This was of course long before he stood for leader. And shows the integrity amd loyalty of JC! 👍 But at the time, I had no idea why people didn't vote for Ed rather than Cameron.. Even though Ed wasn't firmly anti-austerity. Of course, the Scots deserting "New Labour" for the SNP didn't help either.. But I knew New Labour was a busted flush really anyway by 2010, I suppose.. But STILL that wing of the party hung in and has now taken it over. Arrogantly thinking that the British public will love them, as they are, yes, that word again, "electable", ha ha! 😏😏 The irony really is that "electable" Starmer really might get in in a couple of years, due to nothing but the Tories imploding... So by default. 🤷‍♂️ But nobody will love him! Why would they? (Ed: sp./typos. 😏)

But a) what area of the country do you live in may I ask (certainly not London) and b) WHAT KIND OF GAMMONS DO YOU ASSOCIATE WITH?? 😄😄 And when they said: "I like Boris!" Did you ask them quite simply, "But why do you like him?" And after they stammered out some nonsense, you should have said something like: "You DO know that that friendly teddy-bear buffoon persona he presents the public with is just an ACT?? It's an ILLUSION! You should never VOTE for someone on the basis of their media personality, but on their POLICIES! Otherwise, you're voting for air, or worse!" 😏 (And, if the someone is a bit younger and has seen a fair few horror movies, you should counter with: "You know you should never let charming clowns lure you into polling stations, under bridges or anywhere else? We've all seen how that movie ends: they might well eat you!!" 🙂🙂) All pretty academic now of course: though it could be argued that Liz Truss is just another incarnation of IT!! 😏 BUT hopefully the gammons and the middle-class "shy Tories" will all be put off voting Tory by the fuel crisis, the cost of living crisis and a bit of negative equity by the time of the next charade! 😏

He was not Monarch, he was not General, and sadly he didn't make it to Prime Minister. He listened to his party, and finally included the Second Referendum in the manifesto. (Largely urged by Blairites.) Unfortunately for Labour's chances, this was entirely the wrong move, as it alienated large parts of the Red Wall. 😏
