And if you Google "shrinking markets" and Nazi, there are about 3k hits... ... and this vid is the top hit!!!!! About the 5th hit is; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazi%E2%80%93Soviet_economic_relations_(1934%E2%80%9341), which mentions "Shrinking Markets" but mostly in passing, and only via a quote on Overy's 2004 book; The Dictators. Keep up the good work.

  10. 10% of convoys mauled, BUT were all conveys equal? See the farce over the Falklands "convoy" with the taskforce 'packing' errors and so Harriers lost. The number of convoys is a nice metric, but tonnage and content... Colingham seems to look into that balance of what came from the conveys. Anything in her book, on the packing/loading balance? You seemed to skip that in details.

  18. Oh, oh, temperature. I do measure it frequently, from just south of the Arctic circle to the Equator (Finland to Singapour). And recently most commonly in the Middle East. And yes - the "weather" report temperatures are 'shaded' within a louvred box called a "screen" these are the white boxes - you often see. However, anecdotally, in a July afternoon around 25N I went from inside surface temperatures of 23C to 35C and 42C in the shade - but also 105C surface temperature on the black block pavers in the full unshaded local road. A few years later on a different site - but not far away we were recording 53C in August. Love it - keep up the good work. Illegitimi non carborundum.

Japan - didn't unify, in geographical terms - there was a change in the mode of government, from the Shogunate formed in 1603, but even this just followed the older process of the Shogun usurping the power of the Emporer from the mid-1100s. Unlike say where Italy as a singular country formed from various papal states and other secular states into a 'new' geographical entry... noting that even earlier 'Italians' were seen as separate from 'Romans'. Also, it is sort of in the name - Meiji Restoration... a return to a previous state. Not a formation of a totally new state - although it was totally modernised in the same sweep up... These "side bars" on politics, logistics and economics are oddly the real gems of the channel, in spite of the anvil which crippled the Third Reich - Stalingrad. Even "Market Garden" has its moments. But... ... are often detail on detail, which is good for the "stick to tanks" fanboys.
