Gig economy hasn't matured enough to allow the pricing levels to establish, but somewhere there is at least one cartel conspiring to "fix" pricing to ensure that what should be a fiver will cost you fifty quid, just to fleece the riffraff of their disposable income. : ))))) Spivs the lot of them.

And there is an excess of hotel beds in the Middle east (ignoring C-19 current issues) and the US medical 'system' is gauging the price to there 'customers' as they focus on the "return of profit" and with political lobbying to place barriers to a new competitor within their cartel system... ... as others have pointed out in the comments. (Says a builder of hotels and hospitals - amongst other building types.) Nice try - but aligns you with the nazis of the Daily Fail. : ))))
