And they are called "Boer" meaning "Farmer" in my language the language or Dutch Dialect more like is called Afrikaans. He's of English decent but,...i wouldn't go around telling everyone that if i were Winston; )

  6. I've seen a Youtube vid were this exact thing happened in Thailand and Vietnam, even a few times in Japan, so i'm guessing this is not uncommon in Asian countries.

  8. I have no idea what it is but even here in my country, Asians especially Koreans, Chinese and Japanese have a terrible reputation for driving. I do have my own story but that's just one incident, the only time i had a (what we call a ghost rider in the Netherlands) person driving on the wrong side of the highway, it was a Vietnamese guy. Mind you, we drive 130KPH on that part of the highway, so it could have ended really really really badly, it was raining too. He got pulled over by a motorcycle cop on the side,....later it was explained (in the papers) he didn't have a drivers license and was in the country only 3 months (illegally) working for a restaurant as a delivery guy, only he somehow ended up on the highway while he only had to deliver close to the restaurant not anywhere near the highway, turned out he had run a few red lights that day too and hit two parked cars in the city. But I'm hearing stories like this and worse from all over Europe and North-America, what's up with that ?!

There's a tendency for Western man who come to Japan, China, Korea, Vietnam or any other Asian nation to date the local woman and in many cases the local woman are throwing themselves at these Western man, so they end up being spoiled for choice of mostly very beautiful woman. Western woman who would normally be beating man of left and right just to cross the street in the West and can walk into a club or bar being surrounded by man in 5 minute's of arriving get a whole different reception in Asia by the Asian man. They are interested in sex, but not a relationship because of family won't approve but alot has to do with them wanting a local girl to marry anyway, culture roles, finding Western Woman to independent and to different, etc, etc .(the exception just proves the rule) The guy from the West isn't interested either anymore because these Asian woman are definitely spoiling them for choice,...so no chance. It's a very common complaint i hear from Wester woman living in Asia everywhere, the guy's from the West aren't complaining though.

(2011 sencus) Western Cape :58.5%. Eastern Cape :10.6. Northern Cape :57.2. Free State :14.4%. North West :15.6%. Just to name a few,....on the total of 52.780.000 people Afrikaans is spoken more then English as a native tong, but are both a minority language. Australia has 35.030 Afrikaans speakers. Botswana has 10.000 Afrikaans speakers. Namibia has 180.029 Afrikaans speakers. New Zealand has 21.123 Afrikaans speakers. In Indonesia and Canada you still have millions speaking a Dutch dialect even in the USA you have many millions. It's definitely not as uncommon as you say mate, even in South Africa ;)

  26. Harry Pothead Afrikaans is used on a daily basis mate,...not only in schools, even the Bushman speak it not only the Boer or Dutchman. Even Charlize Theron speaks fluent Afrikaans and has interviews in that language with Dutch and Flamish speaking people,...it works perfectly.

We Dutch have no problem pointing out if your looking:fat,tyred,to thin,your appearance is messy,etc,etc if it's a fact we will point it out(its part of Dutch directness)!We mean no malice by it,what's so ever,but i'm told that especially English speaking people have a problem understanding/appreciating Dutch directness(except for Australian people they seem open to it)!Is it something similar with the Chinese,..or is there malice in there"non PC" attitude Winston?

Strauchen Hoff In Europe it can be, maybe some parts of Asia as well!But Winston probably has one or two British born parents, so getting a British passport wouldn't be a hard thing to do, it gets very tricky if your grandparents were the ones born in Britain and not your parents! They can claim British citizenship, but their children can't.

LegendMeadow It has more to do with your passport power ranking, mine is Dutch so in class 4 meaning there are 143 countries i can pass easy into visa free, British and USA passports are rank 1 although recently it was in the news the British lost a few visa free privalige's and mine (Dutch) was about to be bumped up one ranking (3), but it was at 147 countries without a visa just like the US one! The South-African passport is ranked somewhere in the mid 40ties in power ranking, has around 43 countries it can enter visa free and is heavily scrutinised in the remaining countries making entry more difficult!
