Hope the surviving residents had intensely talented attorneys. I feel sad for NYC, truly cheap living space was THE reason that Hotel Chelsea played a role in culture and history. I can't wait until we elect a truly courageous mayor who refuses to accept one dollar of real estate money in her campaign, and then moves forward to break the strangle hold real estate has on NYC politics.   6. Can a Historically Black College step in to expand their university into Eatonville? That would be educationally congruent with the first philanthropists' mission for the land. Is there a historically black college in Florida with a healthy endowment that can afford the land? What about Howard? They probably have the money. Yeah, Theodore Roosevelt was an imperialist with a big stick, but he was primarily a Republican, a progressive, a supporter of land conservation and a trust buster. Whatever else we did, for 20 years in Afghanistan, women went to work to feed their families, and girls went to school, and continued their education to prepare for the careers that their nation so desperately needs. Every member of the USA military who ever worked on Afghanistan, and everyone who worked with NATO, should feel very very proud of that. Sometimes I wonder why we didn't leave the weapons with the women. The women are still protesting in any small way they can, trying to get video out, teaching in secret schools, etc. They just ask that the world not forget them, not allow them to slip completely out of the news cycle. Afghan diaspora, please remember your sisters and continue to work for a better day. If the women could be trained as citizen soldiers, they would resist the Taliban until their nails bleed. Afghan women will never give up. They cannot give up. I believe a better day will come for them.

Then, in 2025 they stripped the name Fort Moore and reinstalled Fort Benning, this time claiming it was for Corporal Benning from the Great War. Adding Russia, Afghanistan and Ukraine to the already sensitive discussion of gun control is an attempt at distraction. The problem is not the doors, the problem is guns. The Dept of Defense has no interest in seeing assault weapons in the hands of untrained civilian adolescent males. Military personnel would only use a weapon after several months of training and observation, and more dangerous weapons like assault weapons would only be supplied when needed for a specific mission, then collected afterwards. Gun manufacturers with irresponsible marketing should be held accountable. It is not true that nothing can be done. If our lawmakers continue to demonstrate a lack of courage on gun control legislation, they must be voted out. The problem is the gun.

Also time to revisit 1937 and FDR who started to move on legislation to reform the supreme court when the court was repeatedly blocking measures needed to help the nation recover from the Great Depression. Remember "a switch in time saved nine"? Just the fact that FDR was working on the legislation caused the court to back off on their attempt to eliminate the minimum wage. SCOTUS is one branch of government; they do not own the USA.
