  8. It is a case of self preservation and battle doctrine. Simply put if there is overwhelming numbers in the attacking force the defenders step back and then adjust their forces to defend. The result is a very expensive AFU doctrine of advancement. The AFU are low on highly trained soldiers, to the point that they withdraw them after each attack and rotate in conscripts. It is a rush each time when the advance stops. Kiev is obsessed with protecting the "hardcore" element of it's military.
