This missile is more in the class of the TOW missile in size, range and effectiveness.

Expecting UN peacekeeping troops (from any country) to use force in defense of the mission--is like expecting pigs to fly out of a cow's arse.
479
Are it's effects horrifying. Yes. Is it hideously effective against trenches and bunkers? Yes. But is it a war crime to use such a weapon? No. (Unless used against civilians).

'It is what it is.' Pakistan essentially helped the Taliban kill and wound thousands of our troops in Afghanistan. And all our government officials said the same thing as excuse for doing nothing.
276
Somebody needs to point out the difference between a Sniper Support Weapon and a Designated Marksman Weapon. They are not necessarily the same thing. The DM's weapon needs to be as compact and lightweight as possible, while maintaining good precision to 800 meters. The SSW needs superior precision to 800m or more, and can trade some weight and length to achieve that objective.
275
The highest medals are typically awarded, after the plan goes to shit. Well done Sergeant Giunta.
264
They do over international waters.

"And when you set out to take Moscow, don't forget your long underwear." -French Grenadier

Modifications to the direct gas impingement system have greatly improved the reliability of the M4 (and even the Mk18). These chiefly center on the bolt carrier group. That said still love the HK416.
170
Something rarely depicted in war movies.
156
'With friends like the Saudi's...' Hey wait a minute. It would appear only our defense industry needs friends like the Saudi's.
149
The M110 is a perfectly functional weapon, although not perfect (what is), the Army is just looking for something even better.
119
Who says you have to penetrate a tank's armor to put it out of action anyway.
118
Autonomous region? Subjugated region more like.
42
@ramkikrishna1462 And Indian idiocracy. Later much.
42
Important not to assume that the areas in red on the map are completely held (i.e. every square kilometer) by the Russians.
42
The question hinted at here is what role will the F-16's fill for the Ukrainian Air Force? Primarily air to air, thereby relieving the pressure on their ground forces from Russian fixed-wing and rotary aircraft? Or hit and run, low level close support to support their own troops. Or something else?
37
I think you did a significant disservice to those brave individuals fighting for Ukraine. The key is they are mostly fighting out of a sense of honor and what is right. It is totally not their fault if the foreign legion is not well run. Foreigners fighting for Russia are mostly all doing so for material reasons. You completely failed to make these distinctions clear.
35
The K-2 like the LeClerc uses the flat turret configuration. Makes for a lovely low profile turret. Unfortunately it puts loaders in the unemployment line.
32
'Deter' is the key word. If Putin is determined to invade no matter what, Ukraine is toast. If the Russians are concerned with the number of casualties they may take, than maybe.
24
"Tracked vehicles struggled in the mountainous terrain?" Tracked vehicles typically have much better mobility in virtually all terrain/substrates. Wheeled vehicles in Afghanistan were primarily restricted to roads or open desert. Don't believe me ask the British who had great success climbing steep slopes with their BAE/Hagglunds articulated tracked armored carriers. Ever see a BTR or a Stryker climb even a moderate mountain slope? I didn't think so.
23
There is absolutely no way 600 to 800 Special Forces operators were on the ground in Niger! It was a much smaller quantity of SF operators, assisted by a couple hundred military support personal.
22
Even George Orwell would say "damn China thats hardcore."
22
The Abrams also uses a 120mm barrel of 44 calibers.
20
Those were not "US made artillery cannons." They were Soviet made D-30 122mm howitzers. And they weren't being towed, they were mounted in the cargo beds of those trucks.
20
Taiwan (Formosa) is one of the biggest islands in the world, there is plenty of room to store and operate weapons, especially missile launchers.
20
India's continuing close relations with Russia, just goes to show you that international relations are a lot closer to plain interpersonal relations than is supposed in the marble halls of government and academia.
18
The thing that worries me most are thermobaric weapons. How do you force protect against those things? God help the Ukrainians.
18
Thanks for the update. I want the Ukrainians to kick the shit out of the invaders. But you are right to add a cautionary note, because the Russians still have a shit ton of combat power.
18
Let's get real for minute. If you compare the ship types and the relative power of those vessels, the US Navy is still much more capable. However the future is more concerning.
17
Everything is riding on this socalled 'counteroffensive'. If it fails to secure any notable gains or fails to materialize at all, it will be much harder for Ukraine's supporters in the west to continue the present levels of support. And the hands of the naysayers--isolationists and Putin fanboys and girls--will be strengthened.
16
I have achieved neighborhood air superiority with my DGI drone. Haha.
16
A handful of F-16's will be useful to the Ukrainians, but the tides will hardly shift.
13
The M240 in US Army usage is essentially a crew weapon as it has an assistant gunner who carries a spare barrel, extra ammunition and tripod. Or do you mean a crew of 3 soldiers?
13
Is it me or is Isreal becoming a more dodgy ally of the United States?
13
Sweden drew the long straw, except for the island of Gotland----which the Russian Navy would like to occupy and rename.
13
So what you are implying is if someone has any empathy for what the Palestinian people have endured under Israeli occupation--WHICH IS NOT THE SAME AS APPROVING HAMAS' ABHORRENT ACTIONS--then that person is somehow morally bankrupt. Then FU Cappy.
12
Yeah...he didn't really make clear in the video the awesome difference between 308 and 338 rounds.
12
Why don't we have such a rocket for our M270 MRLS system? Or do we? And I forgot.
12
Correct. I was just about to make the same point.
11
@Re.Configured One could make an argument that the Mk12 (5.56mm) could be utilized as a designated marksman rifle. And for a time the Marines were utilizing an M27 (one per squad), with an enhanced optic, as a marksman's weapon. So yes conceivably a 5.56mm weapon could be tasked as a DMR, although traditionally those are 7.62mmx51 based rifles.
11
No it was a side show of Putin's main clown show.
11
Strike hard, fast and deep. And never let-up in the pursuit. Seems like good advice.
11
@rohit.n.mohite Prove what you are saying. I think Ukraine buying Russian oil is BS!
10
The enemy of my enemy, is my enemy? Errr no...lets try that again.
10
Javelin maximum range is 2500 meters, and may be boosted to 4000 meters in the most advanced version.
9
Stop making the Terminator into a super weapon. It can be turned into scrap metal by a Javelin just as easy as a T-72 (on whose chassis it's based). Plus there are only a handful of them.
9
The M4 was the wrong weapon for Afghanistan. But that was not the weapon's fault as it was primarily designed for 300 meter engagements. An AR style 7.62mmx51mm based rifle (16" barrel) would have been a better choice.
9
@m1a1abrams3 No. I meant HK416 (MR556 for the civilian version). Colt got all over Heckler & Koch for originally calling their weapon the HK M4.
9
China: human rights? What are those?
