Cleaner fission power is possible in the near future, but practical fusion power is still a long way off.

It's more like stupid policies repeat one another.
9
0:14 Thats an M2A3 in the picture, not an A2.
8
No it's only a partial clusterfuck, with a side of Ukrainian determination.
7
A lot of people on here probably think the M2 Bradley is some kind of super weapon. It is an effective IFV. But start trying to use it like a tank, and it will be more like a stuper weapon.
7
@Taskandpurpose Sorry. I didn't mean to be overly critical. And I have no objection to you highlighting how poorly (and perhaps corruptly) the Foreign Legion is being run, which is an absolute scandal if true. It just seemed you got into the weeds too quickly, and so the distinctions in motivations (which you did touch on briefly) between the volunteers for Ukraine and the volunteers for Russia, did not receive the proper amount of emphasis. Cheers.
7
It's the unfortunate effects of fundamentalist religion intruding into government and society. We are beginning to experience the same thing here in the United States. Where the radical religious right seems intent on remaking our society, either by law or the gun.
7
@lucagerulat307 The reference here was operating in the mountains. Not driving on roads that go through the mountains. And armored tracked vehicles (especially articulated tracked vehicles) have a lot of advantages that armored wheeled vehicles do not in steep terrain. Advantages that justify the higher maintenance costs.
7
WRONG! Armor still matters for a whole host of reasons. What will give armor full relevance again are active defense systems. And those systems are already fielded, with more on the way.
7
@josephstalin839 Or the overpressure and/or intense heat from the blast wave. Or the air being sucked-out of the bunker, and replaced with toxic fumes. Yeah not a pretty picture.
7
20:10 That vessel is not a frigate, but rather a marine fisheries patrol ship.
7
You forgot to mention our Swedish friend Carl (Gustav). He really kicks ass. Just don't stand behind him when he's angry.
6
7:57 There were no M2 Bradley's in the engagement.
6
The Ukrainian soldiers and reservists are kicking ass despite fearful odds.
6
"Like a larger IFV, like the Bradley or the Abrams." ABRAMS? Proofreading is a wonderful thing. Check it out.
6
If it wasn't for the nuclear fallout which would result, I would say have at it Hoss.
6
@extremeheat9283 Who do you think gave Al Qaeda permission to set their base in Afghanistan? The Taliban. Duh.
6
That convoy likely contains anti-aircraft systems that can bite back, unlike the situation in Desert Storm.
6
"See the problem as more of a political one than a military one." What did Mr. C say? War is just politics by other means.
6
Patriotic fighters who are defending their homeland and families, and who know they will either be executed or sent to a gulag if they lose--should never be underestimated.
6
@acoustic296 Go up to a Marine and tell him his M27 (derived from the HK416) is trash. Let me know if you have any teeth left afterwards.
6
If T. E. Lawrence (of Arabia) could see whats going on today, he would say 'scatch that last bit.'
6
Your nickname Cappy (presumably derived from Capelluto), should now be changed to Capire (because you help your audience to understand the complex defense topics of the day). Ciao.
6
Bofors makes the 3P multi-purpose, programmable round.
6
The barrel was too long at 20". A 16" barrel with a telescoping stock, like the HK weapon would have been more effective.

@TheLukasDirector When we first went into Afghanistan there was a clear idea of what we were doing, going after the terrorist group who had staged the biggest attack on the United States since Pearl Harbor. Up to Tora Bora we did a great job, but then we (or really General Franks) screwed-up bad, and let UBL slip away. That meant we could not leave as we should have, and ideas of nation-building and extending democracy also creep into what became a 20 year clusterfuck.
5
Because they are expecting the United States to defend them ultimately.
5
@LuciFur-dg5bo You mean after the Russians illegally seized Crimea, and then sent their 'little green men' into DonBass in 2014? Blaming the victim of a cruel war of aggression and conquest is shameful. Your karma will reap the untrue and hateful things you say.
5
Man-portable? Yeah I suppose, if you a talking about moving it 20 meters from your Tigr. Otherwise not so much.
5
The NRF wasn't used in 2014 (or 2022) because Ukraine was not a member of NATO.
5
The T-72's weaknesses were just as evident in Desert Storm, therefore they would have been revealed had the Warsaw Pact tried to push through the Fulda Gap in the 1980's.
5
"It is thus imperative that the Han help themselves to the minorities land." What Mao actually thought.
5
@mrvwbug4423 I have not heard about that. We did test a Rheinmetall L55 gun on the Abrams from 1999 to 2001, but did not take it into service.
5
@AmericanBusinessman422 Probably not completely, but to a reasonable degree. I would be interested if you have information on the subject. Cheers.
5
@jeremywolfe6929 Specify please...'our what is deadly'?
5
Our drafted (conscripted) soldiers pulled-off sophisticated tank tactics in World War II, Korea and even Vietnam.
5
Besides rapid maneuvering, how do you counter an energy beam weapon? Create an instant cloud of dust?
4
@temwananinkana3419 The main reason a rotary, multi-barrel cannon is preferred on modern jet fighters is primarily rate of fire. At the increased speeds of modern dogfights, a pilot may have only a second or less to engage their opponent with guns. The more rounds out, the better the chance of a hit(s).
4
READY. You bet your ass they are.
4
The same reason the Third Reich didn't just manufacture a version of the T-34. National pride.
4
If India still thinks Russian weapons are top drawer, I have a slightly used 73' Dodge Dart I want to sell them.
4
3:50 Hey Cappy, does that AR-15 you are holding have a mid-length gas system? If so how does it shoot compared with the M4 you were issued in the Army? Thanks.
4
Think of the knowledge gained from pitting a US fourth generation fighter against the full array of Russian air defenses.
4
It's kidda hard to learn the right way to box in the middle of a boxing match.
4
A regular infantryman explains strategic geopolitics--"I'll buy that for dollar".
4
@Taskandpurpose Hello Cappy. I think a better definition of 'operating in mountainous terrain' would help. Because their is operating on crappy dirt roads in mountainous terrain. In which case, an M-ATV would be the way to go. Then there is actually operating in steep, trackless mountainous terrain. Like the Afghan opposition forces did at Tora Bora, driving T-54/-55 tanks to the tops of mountains. If we are talking about 'armored' vehicles in that environment----tracks rule. PS I am not aware of Bradley Fighting Vehicles being used in Afghanistan, however the US Marines employed a limited number of M1A1 and M1 Assault Breachers in Helmand Province.
4
'Point of Saturation' sounds like a BS concept to enable Taiwan to spend less on defense, while the United States has to contribute substantial forces at great expense to defend the island.
4
@bussolini6307 Yeah I mean the Chinese Navy has so many aircraft carriers. What was that number 16 carriers? 12 carriers? 8 carriers? 4 carriers? Oh right it's just two reconditioned Russian medium carriers. And one large carrier building. Wow! What an overwhelming advantage compared to the US Navy's 11 nuclear powered super carriers.
4
@sampatkalyan3103 Saudi Arabia has owned 100% of Aramco since 1976. Get your freakin' facts straight.
4
Sorry thats wrong. The latest estimates was that Putin had sent in 2/3rds of the Russian Army to date.
