  2. Putin's excuse for invasion is total crap. There was no chance of Ukraine joining NATO anytime soon. So his stated purpose to keep NATO away from his borders is BS. Because if Russia succeeds in taking over Ukraine, it's forces will directly contact the borders of Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania (all NATO countries). And Russia already borders the Baltic states (NATO).

  3. Well thats why they proposed the arsenal ship...oops never realized. Then they had the SC-21 and later DD-X...oops discontinued programs. Finally there is the mighty Zumwalt class...oops too expensive. So 32 ships cut back to 3 ships. Fewer missiles than the Arleigh Burke class, but oh man those powerful twin 6-inch guns. I mean who needs x9 16-inch guns and x12 5-inch guns and x48 missiles, when you got those two glorified 155mm howitzers? The Marines of course.

If France is attacked we will come to their aid, and when we were attacked on 9/11 France went to Afghanistan with us. Just because you buy a countries weapons does not make you allies.

  26. The military and civilian leadership should have realized classic counterinsurgency practice could not work with the forces available in Afghanistan. Traditionally the ratio required is 1 counterinsurgent to every 25 members of the population. If the population of Afghanistan in 2002 was 25,000,000 thats a 1,000,000 soldiers. And of course, you have to rotate those individuals and units--so on a 1:2 rotation schedule thats 3,000,000 soldiers. The entire active Army during the period never exceeded 580,000 soldiers, and of course they were needed for other commitments. Further the United States had neither the time or patience to commit to such an effort. So it was a doomed enterprise from the start.
