He knew nothing then. He knows nothing now. Nothing has changed. Just like always.

Obviously, this is the representative of America we want Europe to hear from, to know really represents us.

What a sad little man. Goes off the rails at 13:58, which leads to booing and then shocked silence. Perfunctory applause puts a good face on the ugliness when he retreats into references to charity. He then makes an ugly retreat with religious code words which embarrasses everybody. Al Smith Jr. is graceful, clever, and does about as well as can be imagined given an utter disaster to handle. -dlj.

...all of which brings up the question of Hungary's membership in the EU.
13
Truly weird. How is a major water-main break not something you jury-rig in a couple of hours, fix in a week, and rebuild for the next century's needs before the year is out?
12
@MugglesBWare Nope. The shipper, not the Latino farmer, is responsible at the Canadian border. 'Course if the US get around to collecting at their southern border, that would add to the price once by the time it hit Canada. This, sadly is what is called an academic point.... If you want to look at the funny side, yeah, it's a nice silly question what the drug trade would look like if every country took their cut as the stuff went past. This, for instance, is what A-hole Trump wants to do to auto parts between Windsor and Detroit.
9
Why would you fire people when you can just send them to Hell for all eternity without all the fuss and bother?
8
"Mighty"? This was a Trump operation, worthless from the get-go.
7
@MugglesBWare Mexico doesn't own it, you half wit. The person who would owe that ver-ree speculative Customs and Excise charge would be the Canadian importer.
7
Thank you, individually. On the whole, though, under the Orange Delusional you're a menace to yourselves and to everybody else.
7
I think there will be rather large "refunds." To the estates. 'Course the lawsuits will take years, and the lawyers will probably come out best.
6
Poor little Zuckerberg is out of his league here!
6
What fool!
6
Naw: they did the research and concluded that a carbon tax on broccoli would be 18.3 times as productive. And it works the other way, too: Narcotics are net net carbon fixers in the countries where the plants are farmed.
5
Since Trump was threatening to fire you, did you mention to him that he's already been fired?
5
Sayin' thupid things, too...
5
China's action here seems to have been cynical and cruel. This still leaves us with the question of why Canadian courts and governmental systems allowed themselves to be suborned to Donald Trump's pique. Bravo to the rest of Minister Garneau's sound points.
4
@preciouschaoslives 180 degrees incorrect, fule.
4
If what you suggest is true, it might be because of lack of competition -- or even lack of competitive bidding at the contract level.

@MaliciousSRT Anonymous SP, I know you think you're putting me down -- but you're failing. Zukerberg is a moderately good programmer and he's done a brilliant job of monetizing his limited skills -- rather like Marc Andreessen, his fellow billionaire. On the other hand, he knows squat about government and has clearly not thought through his position on paid lies on Facebook. He also seems to be carrying on much too much of his time without any expert help. He's a tekkie equivalent of "The lawyer who represents himself has a fool for a client." AOC was a waitress -- an honest working-class job. May I take it that your sneer establishes you as a bona fide Trumpoid?
3
My feeling too -- but it's not a very useful feeling. Both Trump and cocaine are dangerous random narcotics and they both need handling with care.
3
If you twist any tube, it will close in the middle. The tensile strength of the tube's material is irrelevant. Tension is what ensures the squeeze.
3
There's ain't no backup. We've gotta look after the one we've got.
3
@DaveWikle-ui5bl Trump is a fool: he thinks this is a tax on Canada: it's a tax on American families too.
3
He's lying -- as usual. The Republican extremes are obstructing the Republican right. The Democrats have already passed relief through the House, where they have the majority.
3
Manufacturing good products at decent prices is somehow an attack, thinks Little Squeaky.

Because this particular cold, like many others, is lethal quite a lot of the time but fortunately the vaccines are between 89% and 96% likely to cut that risk very close to zero. I've spent a year profitably playing the horses -- successfully, thanks in part to my judgement, in part the advice of an expert on horses. I'm good at gambling when I have expert help, as on the vaccine question. Thank you for asking, Matt.

@deepthoughts8393 Asked and answered, by and to Matt, soi-disant "Deepthoughts." If you think deeply -- and collect the relevant facts -- I am sure you will agree with me that the ukases on flying and going to concerts while one is a public danger are wise rules. 'Course I'm not that confident, given the evidence you provide, in the likelihood of your thinking deeply.

@3ndl3ssch0as6 Stupid superstition is a real killer.
3
This country is in pretty good shape, Prospector. Blame something other than Canada for your burden of self-pity.
3
@Planet_Xplorer I think he said he was going to Sue. Clearly an entirely different matter. I think he was making the case that we need remedial data processing classes for, um, people "with out" an understanding of the edit function.
3
"Canadians dont feel safe anymore" The door to door polling industry has now been heard from. Thank you Helen. Would you like to tell us how you compiled your findings?
3
This is true, but some of them we need to worry about a bit. That influenza, pneumonia and tuberculosis exist at all, let alone Covid, on First Nations territories is a national shame, a sign of simple incompetence at several different levels of government.
3
Poor sour, bitter little man. Who but Donald could think that "self-deprecating" means throwing your wife under the bus? -dlj.
2
Sorry, Challenge, there's just one small difference between them. Hillary is intelligent, decent, prepared, successful, attractive, competent, and qualified for the job. The small difference? Donald isn't. -dlj.
2
Even if they were immune -- and they're not -- they have the responsibility not to help the viruses spread at a dangerous time. This is a simple proposition, Miroslav. It has nothing to do with "government" or "freedom." It's a question of how decent people behave in a time of shared danger.
2
Canada has a strong and sound justice system -- which is one of the reasons Canadians live roughly two years longer than Americans.
2
This is a terrible recording of a man not answering the questions he is asked. It is not publishable. 1.) Throw this recording away and tell the man to answer the questions, please. 2.) Suppress the echoes in the room; put a pad and a tablecloth on the desk and curtains on the wall behind him, and hire a sound man who knows what kind of microphone to use. 3.) Have the man gargle with saline or mouth-wash to cut down on his slurring and stumbling. 4.) Try again, and repeat until you get a decent recording of your questions.
2
Where's Melania, Donnie? Don't tell me she wants another pre-nup in exchange for coming out and holding your hand in public, Donnie....
2
@neoir8514 "Yo-Yo Ma is a French-born Chinese-American cellist. He was born in Paris and spent his schooling years in New York City and was a child prodigy, performing from the age of four and a half." Wikipedia is your friend.
2
What do you mean by "behind" a business? Law and justice are concerned with the question of who actually does any particular bad "business."
2
Carbon fibre is not brittle. It is as motile as cotton thread.
2
@brucelomax3375 Doesn't get much stupider than that, Bruce. The future belongs to people who can get along with other people, not to chest-thumping little xenophobes.
2
Where do you see a money transaction in this story, Paul?
2
But the "de-evolution" thingie seems 'bout right, doesn't it?
2
And Chrystia Freeland is one very bright lady.
2
@skewty Scott, Pretty much everybody here is billions of dollars richer than Donald Trump. We're looking here at a man whose lifetime accomplishments to date are overwhelmingly negative. Even before we consider Eric. The grandfather was a whoremaster and his father was a government-subsidized builder of mass housing. At least both of them were builders. This guy is a wall to wall destroyer -- starting with his forebears' hard-won fortunes and his siblings' inheritances which he ran into the ground.
2
Anonymous Canadian Civilian I do not conflate anything, and you have no evidence for your slander. You don't specify who your "they" is. What are your thoughts on the usefulness of the distinction if it could be made? People dying with it certainly have deaths as unpleasant as people dying from it, so it would seem like a good idea to stop its spread regardless, don't you think?
2
You can not love that man once you mature into admiring the skill of one of the conman greats. The most skillful shuck-and-jive artist since Ivar Kreuger. Once you catch on, you'd be sorta silly to love the man who is borrowing trillions fro the Chinese to give to his buddies, and then sticking your children and grandchildren with the bill to pay for it, wouldn't you?
2
@Mr_GiLL83 Well, he is already in the USA. You got that bit right.
