In situations like that in my life I sometimes find myself saying something like "I don't know, but I have a couple of my guys looking into it. We'll know pretty soon." Pari passu, Trump's might have been more like "I'll have the NSA make as much as possible public soon. We'll {let the Press Room know/message you all} in two or three hours, four at the outside." It's been a few years since I've been in the White House or dealt with the seniors of the CIA, but in my time it would have been something like those. What would you want him to say?
