  9. Indeed. I suspect a lot of proof of concept testing has gone on over the past years ? In the end we may all be forced to dump our battery tech as the reverse engineeering of whatever tech has been used makes the risks intolerable to the wider public.

  20. I have always had a licence and will continue to do so while required. I do object to having to have one just to fund the BBC which I view as a totally useless self serving organisation that has become institutionally profligate and corrupt. The government should throw it to the wolves by removing the licence fee requirement.

  38. I never use my UV5R for any length of time with the portable antenna. For nets etc I use an external antenna shielded from my body and head by distance and a metal plate. Even my mobile phone is used very sparingly. If your ear feels hot in use hang up asap !

  43. I have a slightly jaundiced view of secure comms tech in that it is an open invitation to those who mean no good to stay below the radar. We live in a very dangerous world at many different levels with law enforcement and the security services struggling against a lack of resources and an ever increasing workload. As a law abiding citizen I have never felt a compelling need to be off grid. Just saying.

  50. I fully agree - well worth a ride as my old legs can't get me back up the steep path easily. Sadly have not visited for seveal years now but must do soon whilst I can.
