@LindaPeterson-f6p "bear" - I see what you did there and I'm having a whale of a good time.

They might not support or endorse him but I wonder how many will still vote for him.
20
@KingWilliamProtector You mean like how MAGA stopped crying about 2020, grew up, and moved on with the rest of us? As long as there are people like kurtwaldron calling us idiots (and others saying worse), and the people arguing for unity don't call them out for it, you shouldn't expect many of the rest of us to fall in line and move on.

@dsssh1908 Not voting when the choice is Donald Trump (AGAIN) isn't a disqualifier for the OP's comment.

@topeka088 From the equatorial regions of Africa, parts the Middle East, and Central/South America migrating to the global North. The climate change aspect is the summer heat, increased storms, and changes to the growing season all of which are also increasing famine in many of these regions and especially in Africa. Some people would argue that there is political unrest, which is also a problem, but that's largely always been a problem in these areas and we didn't see the levels of migration we've seen over the past decade due to previous wars and authoritarian governments.

@KristineWahl-ft9qj My position is that the only legislation that should exist around the subject of abortion regards making sure the health care providers and staff are qualified and that the facility is clean and safe.
18
"I steal my fashion from Subaru commercials" - 🤣😆🤣 - Loves me some Sarah Longwell.
18
At least she was a television anchor for 22 years and apparently doesn't have a drinking problem or a record of sexually assaulting anyone (that we know about).
17
This is the guy who complained about how much time other politicians spent on the golf course - the projection never ends with him and his enablers.
17
@nigelhirth2181 Exactly. C - Both A and B is the correct answer.
17
I'm generally not a fan of religion but the only ones I really have a real problem with are the fundamentalist ones. Christian, Muslin, Jewish, Hindu, etc - doesn't matter which franchise, it's the absolutist authoritarian dogma that I can't abide.
17
One of the worst things that could happen in the near future regarding all of this is Trump being put back in office and the US returning to an isolationist America First/Fortress America policy. But then Trump would make just about everything worse if he gets back in office and his team puts Project 2025 into play.
17
Not sure how "sub" that section is but count me in.
17
MAGA put Trump back in office. Tells us everything we need to know about them.
16
H's got that Kennedy name - Trump loves celebrity.
16
he gives them license to be their most awful selves. There are a lot of really awful people in the world.
16
Large amounts of what is wrong in the US today can be traced back to the Reagan administration. The continued pedestaling of saint Ronnie is one of the things that continues to be disappointing about folks at the Bulwark.
16
@diamondlion47 I keep hearing people arguing for Shapiro so the Dems will win Pennsylvania, but I think Kelly would help them win in Arizona plus Pennsylvania and a bunch of other states that would be excited with having an astronaut as her VP - always go with an astronaut. Plus Mark Kelly is like the anti-Vance.
16
You noticed that too, eh?
16
It's difficult for me to point to any single MAGA enabler as an example of everything wrong with the GOP - they're all such deplorable people.
16
Doing one thing the right way does not a great American make. Pence has done a lot of damage to a lot of people during his political career.
15
If someone has been so tuned out their entire adult life that they haven't voted before they are 42 they might as well just sit the rest of the elections out.
15
Exactly! She worked for they guy so she knows what Trump is all about, but that's Nikki for you.
15
Give 'em hell, JVL!
15
Gotta own the Libs.
15
The whole TDS thing still bugs me. How is it deranged to identify Trump for being the awkward, racist, sexist, broken grifter that he is? Saying someone has TDS always seemed like more projection from his supporters.
15
Who? Will? No, it's clear what he's saying. If you can't understand it and the points he's making that sounds like a you problem. Maybe you should stick to your reich wing bubble.
15
Trump was pretty weird this weekend? - Trump is pretty weird EVERY weekend and usually most of the rest of the weekdays too. That's one of the many things wrong with the guy.
15
All of MAGA needs to go. They are the worst of us.
15
It's deeply disturbing how many people thought it would better to have him back as president then put Kamala Harris in the office. Well, here we go ... again.
15
And yet he keeps getting re-elected. Now that's embarrassing.
15
The courts continue to reinforce the fact that we have a three-tiered justice system. There's what would happen to us - we'd be in jail. There's what would happen to the rich and powerful - they wouldn't go to jail. And there's what happens to Trump - how can we help you today Mr Trump, sir (with tears streaming down their face). Sick of it.
14
"Mass Deportation Now! You first.
14
Blaming any president for the price of gas or domestically grown or produced groceries or most things that don't have tariffs on them is silly, but there are a lot of silly people out there. As far as sympathy for Trump voters - that ship sailed a long time ago and went down with all hands on board after Jan 6th.
14
And aware of history in a away that Sarah just isn't. But then, she also thinks Reagan was great so there's that.
14
They might but the rest of us don't. Trump is yet another good example of why the US should stop with the whole electoral college thing and switch over to a popular vote. Enough with the pandering to rural America and the sparsely populated Red States.
13
"No one in this world, so far as I know—and I have searched the records for years, and employed agents to help me—has ever lost money by underestimating the intelligence of the great masses of the plain people. Nor has anyone ever lost public office thereby. The mistake that is made always runs the other way. Because the plain people are able to speak and understand, and even, in many cases, to read and write, it is assumed that they have ideas in their heads, and an appetite for more. This assumption is a folly." H.L. Mencken - September 18, 1926 And almost a hundred years later it's still being proven true. Same as it ever was - here comes the twister.
13
That's part of what makes her such an outstanding human being. In general, the best leaders never want to be leaders. It's part of the problem with politics.
13
Trump isn't even a useful idiot - what a maroon!
13
Red pill rabbit holes go deep and they've gone all the way down.
13
14:06 - Hesitating to use the term oligarch when you're talking about someone who is an oligarch is part of the problem that got the US into the position we're in now.
13
@KristineWahl-ft9qj Precisely. From my perspective the only codified legalities concerning abortion are that it needs to be treated like any other kind of health care service because, while admittedly there are different concerns involved, it's part of the spectrum of reproductive health care. I don't hear anyone saying men having a vasectomy should be made illegal or have to have the procedure performed in an unsafe setting because it stops men from being able to do their part in creating a pregnancy.
13
Give 'em hell, Tim!
13
Will Saletan is one of my favorite people from the Bulwark. I always look forward to his perspective on politics and news.
13
Thus the reason I refer to him as old Bankrupt Donny. It has less to do with his financial failings (though those too) and more to do with everything else that would be considered good in a person. They guy doesn't even like dogs.
13
And fewer like kurtwaldron. I know I shouldn't feed the trolls, so I'm replying to your original post and not engaging with it.
13
And Tucker Carlson
12
Maybe Greece will be good for her. Maybe she'll find some nice Greek guy who will help deprogram her from the cult. I bet she has some crazy stories she could tell about the family.
12
Well, you all did coin the term "keep calm and carry on". But like others have said, many of us are not. We just can't seem to get enough people with a platform to be more upset about this insane nonsense. Hell, we can't even get them to talk about Project 2025 and that crap is the kind of stuff that ends democracy with a guy like Trump in office!
12
Trump negotiates for Trump. The confusion from Trump supporters about this is one of the problems with Trump supporters. Dismissing anyone who doesn't agree with Trump and his supporters as having Trump Derangement Syndrome is another.
