It's almost like we need more than just two parties. Oh well.

"Bernie didn't get ALL the votes so he lost". damn the MSM and DNC.

The same place status quo Joe has always been - In the pocket of big business
19
Three trillion two hundred billion dollars among four hundred people - when is enough enough?
16
I'd argue it's law enforcement but I get your point.
15
J Leicht But it is Obama's fault that the War on Terror and Surveillance state only grew stronger every year of his eight in office. Obama was a huge Obummer.

I'd make one change at the end of your post -- to pit poor people against each other. I know poor white people usually are treated better in general than poor people from any other minority group, but I'll almost always have more practical things in common with any other person, regardless of ethnicity, from my socioeconomic level than with someone from the upper classes. But it's in the interest of the upper class to keep driving the left/right narrative and keep us in the underclasses distracted and fighting each other. Remember, the Forbes 400 richest people in the US are now worth three trillion two hundred billion(+) dollars. I don't know how much longer this show can go on.

Joe says it himself - he's knucklehead. But he's my kind of knucklehead. People who shit on him don't have much of a sense of perspective or humor.
8
@ericg4915 Settle down, Francis. You're just being part of the problem.
8
It's a return to the good old days of Feudalism or the Aristocracy running things and the rest of us here to service their needs and greed.
7
So voting "present" was the correct choice?
6
Hope and change? More like bend America over and take more of the same. Always said he was just a Chicago Daley democrat.
5
No one expects the Spanish Inquisition!
5
Not just '16 and '20 - it's always been like that. The candidates were always pre-selected by the status quo in a proverbial smoke filled room. Even old Bankrupt Donny was an acceptable choice for the Rep-Cons because he was one and would do their bidding. Like he'd ever drain the swamp or clean up D.C. - LMFAO.
5
Rick Wilson elevated Sarah Palin to the national level instead of leaving her in Anonymity, Alaska. Screw Rick Wilson.
5
@stuckonthe405 You aren't paying attention - we haven't been a Republic for a while now. Sure, they use the old words to make it seem like we have a functioning political system, but one has to be turning a blind eye to what's going on to think we're still a Republic.
4
Ageism is one of those cheap-shots that's unfortunately still acceptable.

Thank you and everyone else. It's good to get another perspective (or several) about the Canadian system. One thing to point out as someone who works in healthcare in the U.S. is that way too many people end up in the Emergency Department because often the wait time to see a doctor at their office can take from several weeks to over a month. Depending on the doctors office, sometimes people can go and wait all day hoping to get squeezed in if there is a cancellation, but for most people I know that isn't a reasonable option unless they aren't working or can get the day off from work. And if I'm not mistaken, under the NHS in the United Kingdom people visiting from out of country can receive treatment under the same pay rules as UK citizens. That may have changed or been modified in recent years though. Thanks again everyone!

I've been calling for a Bernie/Tulsi ticket from day one. FIGHT ME!!!
3
@kyleoliva2411 I called someone Corn Pop in a post the other day - they got really upset.
3
It's always been a struggle between the classes and there are really only two - upper and lower. The so-called middle class are mostly only slightly less poor people.
3
"They" say a lot of things to keep people fooled into thinking we have a functioning political system. Oligarchy is the word - or with the current administration Banana Republic might be even more appropriate. Whatever it is, it's definitely an Empire and one that is in decline. I'm just waiting for someone to light a match and start playing the fiddle.
3
What's sad is how totally not stunning this is. Bribery and corruption? From a politician? That's just business as usual.

Plenty of us from Gen X saw this or something like it coming as have people from prior generations. Various nuclear/environmental holocaust or other kinds of dystopian stories have been popular narratives, even entire genres, of books, music, television and film throughout the period that Gen X falls under. Plus I learned from history books in school as well as from news programs and documentaries our parents watched and sometimes made us watch, that our species has always done awful things to one another and the planet in real life. Not to mention my interactions with other people - there some really awful ones out there. As a Gen Xer I grew up expecting that we weren't going to make it past the year 2000 without everything blowing up one way or another, if not sooner. I'm honestly impressed the world isn't an irradiated, mostly lifeless snowball. And since the Sixth Mass Extinction is a slow-moving holocaust the Oligarchy can keep the show going for at least a while longer.

Never been a fan of Obama even though I gave him my vote both times (couldn't take Palin or Romney). I always saw him as just another Chicago Daley democrat and I was spot on. Mandatory insurance instead of M4A, Drone strikes and extrajudicial murder, making warhawk Hillary SoS, doing nothing about the for-profit prison industry, the big bend over to the Intelligence community and domestic surveillance (hi there you NSA cucks) and driving the status quo narrative about the War on Terror for the Military-Industrial complex, and bailing out bankers while screwing the rest of us are just the icing on his shitecake of mediocrity. Hope and change my ass. Jus another for-profit shill at the end of the day.
2
"Hindsight is 20/20" - If that was true and people were applying hindsight then more people would acknowledge that recent political history seems to be repeating itself. I see a lot of people whose votes the Dems need who are not in love with the ticket and while the bottom of the ticket is making promises, the top of the ticket has made it pretty clear those aren't his priorities. Besides - it's still September. We haven't even gotten to the October Surprise yet.

Thumbs up anytime my man Orwell is quoted. Ride on, Concord!

I, for one, will gladly welcome our now galactic overlords. I ask only for a climate controlled cage in their space zoo. Maybe some space weed every now and then to take the edge off.
2
I'm glad we have other voices like Chris Hedges and Naomi Klein to carry on his and Howard Zinn's legacy.
2
Obama is just another neoliberal chicago democrat who pulled the wool over everyone's eyes with his hope and change BS - Palin as VP on the other side didn't hurt. That he got a second term says more about his opponent than him. Electing presidents has become more about voting against the candidates you don't want in the office than voting for anyone.
2
Thank you Krystal for reminding everyone of what the Heritage Foundation, Trump, and his boys in Congress have done to our courts. I don't even want to consider a world where something happens to any of the remaining liberally minded Justices on the Supreme court.
2
This comment m-m-m-makes me ha-ppy.

'm curious to know if Orwell or Huxley will turn out to be closer correct - unless we end up somewhere a bit more Bruce Sterling or William Gibson. Of course, the planet could make all of it irrelevant if it all goes the way of Rachel Carson or Harry Harrison. I just hope our progeny can pull a Roddenberry someday.

At the very least Iowa doesn't get to be first anymore. Iowa is like the slow child they let do their thing to make them feel special and validated and then move on to the kids that are getting things done.
2
Lindsey Graham, is that you?

@RafaelValle12 What gets me is that if a Latin American transgender woman wants to be regarded as a Latin American woman then most likely wouldn't she want to be called a Latina and not continue to separate herself off as some kind of other? So what the hell? Sounds like a bad idea in search of a problem to make worse.
2
Legend indeed! Tim Dillon is an amazing voice and doesn't GAF who get's in the way cause he knows that it's a real knife fight out there. You know who else would have said the exact same thing - Joey Diaz. Rogan has good friends.
2
Then they ain't friends.
2
You can cancel Rogan when... ..."From my cold, dead hands!"

Recent Republican Mayor Mike wants to make sure his billionaire boyfriend's tax cut stays in place so he can make back all the money he's spent trying to screw Bernie out of the nomination.
2
@zcorpalpha2462 Nothing as long as you're not a privileged jerk about it. A successful wealthy person telling people living paycheck to paycheck - or worse - to just save their money is at the very least patronizing and tone deaf.

They won't - they gotta, hate, hate, hate.

Love Tulsi. She's the only candidate I've ever contributed to to help get her in those early debates and would have loved to see her win the nomination. I'm still hoping that if Bernie can somehow beat the establishment (and other dumbasses - looking at you Eric G) smears and win the nomination he'll have Tulsi take the VP seat. Sadly, I expect old Bankrupt Donny is going to have his second term - by hook or by crook.

If you ain't in the Establishment yo ain't in da club.

Infotainment.

But the 1% doesn't so the rest of us can go fish.

Modly was moved out of that job in a hurry.
1
"I bough - I got that" - recent republican mayor Mike almost slipped up and told the truth there. He's more and more like old Bankrupt Donny everyday. Anyone, especially among the entertainer class, who is shilling for this guy needs to be shunned. Still can't believe mister Farm Aid friend of the American farmer John Mellencamp is backing him. I fight authority my ass.

When you apologize after the audio comes out it means nothing. Bloomberg is just as bankrupt in the things that matter as Trump. Two more members of the bankrupt billionaires club.
