I've been mightily embarrassed by the leaders of my country over the course of my life, but that aggressive, ignorant, jingoistic bullying by Trump and Vance was the worst thing I've ever seen. They proved once again that the cruelty is the point.

S Korea: "WE'RE NOT GOING BACK!" USA: "Yeah, we're going back."

This is often the best of the PSA podcasts.
26
The MTG space nukes vs space lasers joke at the end gave me a good laugh. Thanks for making a heavy subject a bit more light-hearted.
25
Nish swearing vociferously does great things for my spirits and mental health. Reminds me it's not just me that feels like that.
24
Coco and Nish, back in the studio and face to face - all's right in the world. Wait...no it isn't. Not even close, but it is nice to see them back in the studio and in person again.
23
The most important issue that way too few people are talking about. Thanks Ben!

There is plenty about which to be critical of Israeli politicians and policy over, but without corresponding condemnation of Hamas and other Arab militant groups attacking Israel and abusing the civilians on both sides of the conflict it just seems like people piling on against Israel.
16
Nish looks fully feral even when he's at his well-groomed best.
15
I really want to be proud of my nation (the US) but our leaders and the Military Industry Complex, along with the many other for-profit systems of exploitation, just wont let that happen. Y'all suck!
13
"Are we the baddies?" Mitchell and Webb

I used to use the word kakistocracy a lot with Trump's first administration. Looks like I'll be using it a lot again during the second.

Exactly --“Gaza’s waterfront property could be very valuable,” [Jared Kushner] said, lamenting that Palestinians had diverted resources away from economic development and toward weapons and tunnels. “It’s a little bit of an unfortunate situation there, but from Israel’s perspective, I would do my best to move the people out and then clean it up.”
9
That just means you're paying attention. What's really terrifying are all the people who are aren't terrified or paying attention.
9
Just watched Seth Meyers "A Closer Lick" that dealt with ice cream-gate in detail. Loves me some Seth Meyers.
9
",,,some pathetic little goober in a beanie" - 🤣🤣🤣🤣damn, Tommy Vietor throwing some sweet sweet shade.
9
As of early February, President Volodymyr Zelensky's approval rating stood at 57%. Trump wishes he had approval ratings as high President Zelensky.

Sorry but I have to take issue with that "anymore" part of your comment (but I'm still giving it a thumbs up as I appreciate the spirit of it). Plenty of people all around the world have always preferred the morally repugnant candidate at least in part because there have always been plenty of morally repugnant people all around the world. Villainous leaders affirm and give license to their own villainy. What I can't understand is how we are as successful a species as we are but that we're so divided between being kind and loving to each other and being awful to and hating the other.
7
YouTube doesn't like my comment about Kissinger - what can I say, the guy was bad news and we're better off without him. Let's see if that gets through.
7
Good call, Canada. The US electorate re-electing Donald Trump has proven that it can't be trusted not to make terrible decisions that will negatively impact all of us. I'm sorry to see the end of cooperation between my country and yours, but moving away from any alliances with us is in your best interest as well as the UK and the rest of Europe.
7
Good call. I wouldn't move to the US if I lived in any other even half-way decent country.
7
She's gonna make it rain!

Maybe it's because I'm from the US and we are supposed to have that whole separation of Church and State thing, but I don't want to see anyone going through the performative motions of their religion during working hours and especially not when you are performing the duties of public office. I don't care of it's the Muslim call to prayer or someone on their knees with hands clasped in prayer to Jesus or any other practice of any other religion. It's fine to do it, but faith is a deeply personal thing and I just don't feel it's appropriate to make a spectacle out of it and especially not when your on the clock.

We need a Pod Shag version for the States because Coco was spot on - Tinder sucks!
6
History, foreign policy, and money. Especially money.

When it comes to Gaza I'm reminded of the song from 2020 "Biden Sucks, Vote Biden". I'm usually tempted to not vote too, but in the end I feel like it's still better to do it than not. If nothing else it helps justify complaining about politics and politicians. And Biden has gotten a lot of really good things done during his term - more than I expected from him. If we can get a majority in both the House and the Senate and keep Biden in office we might be able to get even more done over the next four years. If nothing else we need to keep Trump out of there. I'm hoping the election results are definitive enough to make Donald (or what's left of the Republican party) understand that he's a loser and needs to stop running. It's a shame the whole politics gig has been such a profitable grift for the guy.
5
He also didn't stop the Ukraine war on day one which was supposed to be so easy. Promises made - promises broken. That's so Trump.
5
I feel like the people who have problems with trans people are or were the same kind of people who have or had problems with gay people and people who are not part of their race or ethnicity and interracial relationships.
5
And YouTube censors more replies.
5
Politics are all too often heart breaking but it seems like it's especially so in Ireland. To paraphrase that other saying - we don't fight because we will win, we fight because things need to be better. Stay strong and keep fighting the good fight!
5
@zvolchen117 Sadly reminiscent of the America First crowd back in the 1930s. History not repeating but rhyming like a gangster.
4
Some of the other PSA podcasts lately have lost my interest, but Pod Save the World is still firing on all cylinders.
4
I'm not saying you aren't wrong but it's an unfortunate fact that when it comes to politics and nation-building, doing something because it's the moral thing to do is almost always something that won't get done. Morality can be something that provides additional support for doing something, but it won't be the only or even the main reason it happens. There's also the problem that morals are relative to the norms of one's culture.

Like life for Arab Americans and migrants would be better with a Republican in charge of the White House, Congress or their local politics, especially a Trump or some other Islamophobic conservative Evangelical politician. As flawed and imperfect as they are, not supporting the Democrats is a great way to make sure the Arab American community has even less of a voice in politics. But at least they'll have their principles.
4
There is person on YouTube who goes by Beau of the Fifth Column. He has some good videos discussing the reasons why what's going on the region is going on. One of the best is too long for me to try and lay it all out here and summering it wouldn't do his argument justice. It's called The Roads to Foreign Policy Dynamics.
4
Guess I'll post this again since it's relevant -- “Gaza’s waterfront property could be very valuable,” [Jared Kushner] said, lamenting that Palestinians had diverted resources away from economic development and toward weapons and tunnels. “It’s a little bit of an unfortunate situation there, but from Israel’s perspective, I would do my best to move the people out and then clean it up.”
4
No one? Who you calling no one? Rude! (just being cheeky. Sorry, couldn't help myself. Cheers!)
4
It can be argued that by having not actively spoken out against or fighting our governments and leaders about support for one side or the other, whether that be generally by people in the West or by the people who live in Gaza, the West Bank, Israel and other Middle Eastern countries (probably the rest of the world really except for primitive tribal people in places like the Amazon), we are all tacitly enabling the political situation and violence between Israel and Palestine to continue. In realty there isn't much you or I can do about it, but that's by choice and our decision to spend our time and energy focusing on other things. But by just posting on social media then people really are doing just about the least they possibly can without ignoring the situation entirely. Having "blood on their hands" is hyperbolic jingoism, but that's also people for you - especially politicians.
4
@bretthake7713 Good to know. Wish they displayed the list because that's one word I stopped using a while back knowing it caused problems. I didn't think I had written anything all that controversial.
4
@andrewmastin4312 The prayer hands emoji really sealed the performance.
3
@tgriffin3059 “I didn’t know I was a slave until I found out I couldn’t do the things I wanted.” ... "in moments of agony, I envied my fellow-slaves for their stupidity." -- Frederick Douglass There's all kinds of slavery. Just because you don't realize you are one doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
3
This idea that I hear some people express about how Ukraine can't win because Russia can't be beaten is such nonsense.
3
Here come all the Pro-Israel folks shouting about how biased PSA is and complaining about how they're a bunch of anti-sems.
3
Posted this but I'll write it here again - I used to use the word kakistocracy a lot with Trump's first administration. Looks like I'll be using it a lot again during the second.
3
@lunaci1103 That's why it's naive.
3
We should be more concerned about the government and military use of jets and fossil fuels than Taylor Swift's one or two private jet planes. And there's really only one solution to the climate crisis and pollution problem - population reduction. But that will happen on it's own in due time as ecosystems collapse, disease and famine spread, and extreme weather events impact more and more people.
3
You must be a very good driver - yeah.
3
"He got fourth in Iowa" - LMFAO. That was great timing, Ben.
3
Someone who wants to use them as a proxy - the enemy of my enemy. Then there's the problem with who gets labeled as a terrorist and who gets labeled as a freedom fighter. I'll point to the Afghan mujaheddin when they were fighting the USSR as an example of both of these postulates.
3
Hey Spain, Catalonia and the Basque regions would like to have a word about being recognized as independent states.
