One of my neighbors in town is a gun person with a rainbow flag on their tac gear who will sit at the end of their driveway with a Pride flag in case their neighbor, who has a rainbow painted fence, gets harassed. There are liberal gun owners out there. And yes, I live in a strange bubble of unreality where my local folks are stridently political and yet they tend to talk about their chickens. To each other. Without fighting.

My oldest was so affected that he had a panic attack yesterday. I can't even blame the kid, he and many of his friends are lgbtq+, and his boyfriend is trans. I am terrified for them. He was coping a bit better today, after we spent time making sure he knows we are supporting him and that we will find some way through this. We have to stick together and change the character of this country to better reflect its people, including dispelling the delusions of all those gulls who are about to realize how badly they are gonna find out.

The Teslas logo looks like an IUD that was designed to be both involuntarily inserted and painful.

Middle aged white cis woman, agreed.

True thing: 'Arctic' refers to the fact that there be big white bears. 'ANTarctic' is where there be NO big white bears.

It feels like I've been screaming into the void.

I've tolerated a lot from family over the last decade or so, and I'm done. They expect perfect tolerance and understanding, but never does it go the other way.

My LGBTQIA+ kid and his trans boyfriend are understandably worried right now, and all we've been able to do is reassure them that we are here, we love them, we will continue to support them, and we love them. We love them a lot. I've also made sure to have "the talk," that when, not if, they experience harassment, they can always come to us. They can talk to us, they can rely on us to support them in any way we can. I really don't know what else to do in a concrete way right now. I'm writing this in case anyone else is looking for ideas for how to support their loved ones.

I was developing preeclampsia with my third child. It would have been VERY bad to continue the pregnancy. I was also post 36 weeks, so, gasp I had a .. c-section . π THAT is what happens when a pregnancy with a viable fetus needs to be terminated, the baby is delivered early. I can't believe this needs to be stated publicly and isn't just understood.

I'm of the opinion that she's actually the one in charge here, and that he's privately an extreme sub who needs to act like an extreme dom in public.

High vs low information voters: This argument is ridiculous. People consume information constantly. If some people are somehow able to discern truth from lies, but others aren't, at some point we have to accept that they don't want to see truth. These folks were saying out loud that fact checking was "unfair." Their base, instead of saying "wait, what? Why is it unfair?," agreed with them and started supporting this idea. There is no helping deliberate ignorance. There is no helping someone who refuses to use even a scrap of logic or critical thinking in their approach to the world. There is no helping someone for whom controlling other people's lives is more important than seeing the damage they are doing to their own.

I hadn't seen an interview with Senator Butler before, and I'm very impressed. Senator, I'd vote for you given the opportunity. Thank you for stepping up!!

I'm in my mid forties, and frankly, even at my age I think I'd be too old for that stuff. There needs to be a mandatory retirement age for all branches of government. And term limits for every branch, too.

βΒ @Stefan_Van_pellicomΒ proving that the people who say women don't do humor are those who just don't get women's humor. π
17
β@Merriwether-w8k I would typically agree, but in this particular case, if she IS staying for the kids (not sure that's the situation, but hypothetically) then remember, this guy is VERY MUCH into the"divorce is an evil conspiracy to keep crappy men from being able to force their wives to stay" idea, and she could be buying it. Again, I don't know that this is the case here.
16
If Gaetz is randomly paying women, just for expressing an interest in him, I would pretend to not think he's horrible for a few minutes. I would not follow through with even a peck on the cheek, mind, but hey, I got bills.
14
That boy had never, ever, ever been made to do chores. That's part of the problem. She let him back in the house, she clearly doesn't truly care what she's condoned.
13
ββΒ @kirstencampbell2593Β She's 43, so not that young, she just seems young because almost the entire government has one foot in the grave. She's got great potential, and she's very clever. Don't discount anything yet...
13
Disagree. Bears are somewhat predictable, unless they are ill. Men? Always a crapshoot.
12
Fun fact: Youngkin cannot run for consecutive terms. The founders of Virginia were worried that the governor would try and make themselves into a pseudo monarch, so they wrote into the Commonwealth charter that the governor cannot succeed themselves in office. There technically isn't a term limit, but this rule effectively means the governor usually doesn't serve more than one term, very occasionally two.

If my family was ever to move to Arizona, I would want to live in their district.

8:45 I know how to remove a stump. I'm agreeing with another commenter here, why not a handy Ma'am show? Mercury Stardust comes to mind....

My response got deleted, so, you're not crazy. I'm screenshotting this one, lol. My last one was pointing out that misogyny takes many forms, and that one example of it in the recent election was the focus on Harris's laugh. How does that reflect on her ability to be president??!?
11
I'm sure they would be happy to stock it with their own favorites, they probably have better taste than ol' Rude boi.

Those two in a WWE style match would be hilarious, like those videos of cats batting their paws at one another. "Eh...eh.ehh..... I'll get you!!" ππππ

Thanks Erin! You've been a wonderful host! I'll be checking out more from the 19th.

It's not about whether you have kids, it's about whether you are an adult about it. Women who have kids and constantly pressure other women to have kids are just as bad as women who think those with kids are stupid or lesser or that they themselves are superior because they didn't have kids. My choices are not your choices. Fine. Let's move on without hurting each other.

8:12 Tim Walz, we found your next gig!! ππ

I'm not sure why it's that surprising that Latino men would vote conservatively, there is a strong Catholic, conservative tradition there, and a strong patriarchy. I'm not assuming that all Latino men will vote conservatively, but it's not exactly known as a progressive group of liberal folks.
8
Pretty sure the worm is still there, couldn't safely be removed.
8
Dems. Y'all need to learn something about manipulation and crowd work. Don't be Mitch McTurtle, waiting until you are so old that you are having strokes in public before retiring (should be in prison, but I digress) Even the Magats have slowly acknowledged that they need younger people in office, and that those people should be the ones who talk loudest. Your power is crumbling, get out while you still have a shred of decency to cling to.
7
Lol, I mean, yes, she should ...but

Youngkin is a snake. I live in Virginia. He isn't particularly quiet about stuff, but he's not quite loud enough about the quiet parts to get national notice very often.
7
You don't need a college degree to educate yourself, please, be welcome!
6
Almost five minutes of ad reads for a forty minute video is ridiculous, ladies. Renegotiate those contracts, because no one is going to deliberately listen to that.
6
Polar bears are reaallly big, though, so hopefully you are able to see it before it comes after you. f you see a mountain lion, chances are good it has been stalking you for awhile. You are in trouble. They are cats, and you are small enough to eat.
6
MOAR JOOOOOY!! Thank you, Joy, I respect you quite a lot, it's always good to hear your take on current events.
5
SHUT THAT STUFF DOWN. Honestly, it would give the chaos a little time to settle down while they figure out what the f is going on anyway. SHUT. IT. DOWN.

Saturn folded during the financial crisis... I believe in '08. It is possible the company was purchased by another auto maker, but if so, they haven't done anything with the brand.
5
Snoop at the Olympics was, indeed, a gift to everyone.
5
@AnnaMariaWolfΒ π it might help, although people get pretty silly about their chickens sometimes. Another of my townsfolk friends likes to take theirs around on a leash sometimes like a puppy π

I'm a mom of three boys. That shit is creepy AF. My kids are supposed to be trying to figure out who THEY are, not trying to be somebody for ME. Yikes. To me it sounds like this is something to bring up at therapy or marriage counseling. Which is clearly necessary.

I was so excited to vote for Obama. It was when Virginia was still considered a swing state, too, so it was even more exciting. I was within two weeks of giving birth to my oldest in 2008, and happily waited in a long line to vote that year. We got there pre dawn to vote before we had to get to work that day. The atmosphere was so positive and electric!
4
People like Mrs. Katherine Johnson inspire me. She was a great lady, and like that young quarterback, John Glenn really did wait for HER ok before he would fly in Friendship 7. πππ
4
I would be so embarrassed and humiliated as a mom if my boys said even a tiny fraction of the diarrhea that continuously spews from that child.
4
Ladies, my first presidential election as a voter was 2000. I still think about that election sometimes. You will definitely be thinking about 2024 for many years to come. Sorry, it sucks, but it's true.

She has no incentive to learn English fluently, it's a transactional relationship and they don't talk to each other very much. I think she knows exactly where she is and what she's doing. That prenup must be something, though, because Barron is old enough now that I expect she's been trying to find a way to leave for years.
4
βΒ @Nancyr-x8oΒ I lived abroad for a few years in my youth, and lemmee tell ya-learning a language is much easier when you are interested in somebody who doesn't speak yours. Which speaks to how much interest Melania has in Donnie the toddler.

"I vant my booird." "Do you speak English?" ππ
