@NotJustBikes we all know the real solution is to build so many roads that there will be only roads left with no destination besides more roads. with 500 car lanes in each direction.
548
@deptusmechanikus7362 more like if everything is a road. you can never park. you just drive for eternity.

Even me being Dutch the extreme high frequency is only with in the Randstad metropolitan area. I live more with in the country side and we are even lucky of having 1 station.

As not a Canadian. I am amazed that it's even allowed to make a law like that in the first place. Like the entire idea off trias politica is that as a politician you have always be able to be taken account for your action. Also why would the national level not intervene? Not about the removal of the bike lanes it self but just the fact that he would not be accountable.
87
@SaveMoneySavethePlanet I have no idea about that. I do know that in the 90's there was a Dutch tv program that was about the unending traffic jam. and only 1 dutch windmill still creating a small bit of green.
51
@imakedamoney420smokeweed I don't think that the editing has been done by poultry.
43
@luism2125 you underestimated your own immune system. Sure don't eat/drink it but on the outside it is not different from walking outside in the rain. your skin is very good with things like that.
37
@mfaizsyahmi the easiest part can be done with in a 2 or 3 year span. make it 5 to get a okay starting point. Don't forget even here in the Netherlands most proper measures have been implied with in my own lifetime. (I am only just week shy of 33) The thing is when the okay network exist start planning to improve the system whenever a street or part has to be maintained. look on how to improve. that is how we have done.
34
@arielcg_ a extra small cab in on the rear of a extra long fire truck with a extra steering wheel operated by a second driver.
29
@Vnifit that does happen also here in the Netherlands. Enough jobs do require you to have a car. Often those are jobs in areas where you just can't get to (safely) with out a car. however a respectable company will in that case help you in ether giving you a company car or a lease car on company. or shared pay. (you only pay if you also use it for private use).
26
If they behave they are welcome. otherwise well they will send in there Viking squad.
21
@kylezdancewicz7346 there is a ration behing that on the surface makes sense why they thing shoppers in a car are needed. in a lot of places the car it self is more a clear symbool that the owner has good income in order to pay for it. They then also might have more money to spent in the shop. in cultures where poverty is still very known the car is seen as a indicator that who ever owns it has money enough to buy and maintain it. That person must also have more money available to spend in my shop. It is more of a challenge to get them to see it otherwise as in a way the more expensive it becomes to use a car the more it does become a elite item.
17
a addition to this all is just how much work it is in the Netherlands to get your drivers licence. it's normal to take about 6 month just learning for me it was even more close to a full year. They are not cheap. So you really must want it.
13
@lucbloom the thing is if they could they would. however there is so much traffic do to cargo. both on the rail, internal waters and roads. Any holdup for to long will have massive impact both on the people and companies in the Netherlands but also Your German companies as the biggest part of our cargo goes straight from our ports to the factories in the Ruhrgebiet.
12
@ thanks you for the lesson. the thing is as a kid in school we are tolde very very little about Dutch history in general.
11
they are also uncommonly big for Dutch standards. However do know they are seen as a two way stairs made with rush hour volume.
10
I did not even know we had a colony in Brazil. Unless it's just a part of Brazil directly below what is now Suriname but that is mostly just the amazon rainforest as far as I know. thick enough that it effectively makes Suriname in a island.
10
@pacamanca To my very limited knowledge. As far as I know Portugal still has a deaccent infrastructure. Otherwise you can always visit us and just take a bridge back in your carry on.
9
@bebobism it's not aimed at the people working on the truck more the rest around them.
9
@k.g.b.1150 You can exercise that right up to the point that said right clashes with the rights of others. In that case what right is more fundamental? Like in your case. No one disallows you to travel that is your right. However that right only state that you can travel. The strictest definition of that is that you can walk anywhere your legs can carry you In no place does that right or any cover a tool. The more if the tool you use for exercising your right is harming others. As the right to safety is a much fundamentally right then to use a tool.
9
I am pretty sure there are already a lot of channels that can give you a good idea on how it works. Ether as a expat or what Jason has done go further and Nationalised as by law he now is a Dutch citizen
9
@apveening in most cases traffic rules are indeed not written in stone they are written in blood. that was the reason people said hé this is not working well. It might also help that now those very same people growing up with the safer systems are demanding even better.
9
They are being used at a few locations. mainly as a try out test but then outside of the towns and cities and more in between.
9
@randomguy-tg7ok here in the Netherlands there are even areas where this has become a problem with cyclists. there are so many that they are. out competing both pedestrians and motorist. but mostly the first.
8
@ElkRondjeIsAnders11 I attended highschool from 2003 until 2008. But one of the things that was a complain was the lack of that what you apparently did get. So you might have been one of the frist that did get that more. As I still know that back then even in the 2de kamer it was a issue that us children where not told any local history only very global.
7
the biggest barrier would be the water. ether they would need to build a dictated tunnel to connect both or you have to build a independent tram system with everything double on both side of the water. the budget you will need in both cases are very high. To much for the city it self. and on the national level there are projects that have priority above that. Like a lot of the bridge that need to be replaced on the highways.
7
@ingulari3977 sure. The car would be so big. That by the time that they walk to there car. The others end of the same car already is at there destination.
7
@blueishsio it's not kings day yet.
6
you should come here to the real Flushing (the Netherlands) you can see how it's take care here. I do have to admit the bus network with in the city is not that much. but that's more because more people will take there bikes. the bus is more for the bigger legs of a trip.
6
for me living in a very small remote part of the Netherlands where a bus is a novelty. going to a city that has a tram and metro system like Rotterdam/Amsterdam has is by it self a novelty.
6
@xxfgsdfgadgsgsrgfdsg They did that back in those days in the Netherlands as well. however I could see that if the materials are good that they might consider to reopen that landfill for items like these. there is now quite a market for old bricks not only for roads but also to maintain monuments
5
not really that is often a lag for those still.
5
it can be the position you are sitting. as you are more sitting up you are catching more wind in your face. It makes it feel a lot faster. Mind you. You also can go fast on them. but it might be that you are using a intercity bike. they are very similar to these but do have between 3 and 7 gears. They are a good middle ground for people that cycle longer distances. but don't want a sports bike
5
@tristanridley1601 there is going to be a even bigger middle part. Like me I am not pro or anti. I mean I truly enjoy driving when I can. I also enjoy other modes of transport. I do like to have a option.
5
@gargoyle7863 to realise that here even the most conservative parties will do its utmost best to have a good cyclist network. If only because they are cheap. plus also them and their children will use them. Also every car they can get off the street will give them more room to drive faster.
4
@jochenklausberger9076 If you would have had them. Trams do have the benefit that you also can look out of them and are often at or near the street level to enjoy the surrounding. the tube system is ether below ground or a bit away from everything. as a tourist even if the tube still is a attraction in it self. I like to see the surroundings and get a first impression by just going around.
4
@PurooRoy you can go anywhere with a low frequency bus however if you want to go far you might prefer to go by air. you can also go by ferry.
4
@CaptApril123 I have not seen any D. Who episodes. It's quite hard to watch British TV programs outside of the UK if you want to only do so legally. (I do not watch pirate content)
4
@steemlenn8797 there is no place to park at al. Continu to drive
4
@petertroep9085 I live in Zeeland were it is not really well servers by public transport at all.
4
GTA suburb? Grand Theft Auto? Well that would be a odd place to live.
3
@TrevorKeenAnimation the old Routemaster busses in London are only used as museum pieces. however they still use modern version double decker busses. The tube stations nowadays are much better. they are much less grimm. It's not perfect but you can see that they do try. For most driving in London is just plain stubernes. Or showing off that they can pay for it to drive in to London.
3
That is very similar here. or people think that they are funny and park your bike in a tree. if lucky or in a cannel if unlucky. It even happens that some people with a small truck or van will drive to a shopping centre or train station. park next to the bikes. where a high visibility vest. grab a angle grinder. unlock all the bikes and load them up and drive them across the boarder and sell them abroad. but still people will still not be stopped using a bike.
3
slowly you will grow close to the Dutch medium standard.
3
@DataLal funny I have seen a Dutch kid tv programm in the early 2000th with the same premises but then somewhere in a dystopian version of the Netherlands. With the only sliver of green was 1 windmill on a small geen hill. and the only food there was where pickles.
3
@petrifiedangel the closest we got to those big stores are the hypermarché's in France. think a smaller Kmart or Wall Mart and take a way the outdoor/camping and clothing.
3
@ChristiaanHW more often they will first build a work road of a rough asfalt. good for heavy trucks and what not. only when the project is done will they replace the asfalt for bricks.
2
@ElkRondjeIsAnders11 in my time in primary (90s) the history they gave us where. ancient Egypt, Greek and Roman time, Middle ages, and then jump to world war two. Same in high school. the going in on actual Dutch history was not common. I know in years later that they did do so but back in those days they just did not go in on any of that.
2
@annedenhaag3511 yep never knew that and indeed I always assumed that is was indeed named after prins Maurits
2
@romywhite290 actually they are taken in to account where possible. as there are bikes made for people that are wheelchair dependent. They also need to be able to park there bikes. (plus people using cargo bikes)
