@USSAnimeNCC- no go for mass blimp transportation.
2
@esmeraldaweatherwaxe970 mostly funding. If you see the diffrence in the amount of tax collected there you see how here in the Netherlands we do fund it. And understand I am happy to pay knowing what I get back for it.
2
If it's anything I noticed last month in and around Antwerp. that was pretty good. however there are still roads where the bike path just stops and they point you to a very narrow gutter. Like yikes. Not nice if a truck is passing you.
2
@aronhuinink9500 you do have the risk that the city will remove it thinking its just trash.
2
@edwardmiessner6502 not If you add so many roads that there is nothing else.
2
Do they plan to make it in to a runway? That is insane.
2
@CoderShare even if a full bus is stuck in traffic that one bus still uses less space then 40 cars back to back. in the end it would still leave more space in total.
2
@GregVidua well yes and no there is a sea arm in-between, it's those sea arms that makes it all so challenging everything is close by but you always need to cross a bridge, dam or tunnel
2
@kempo_95 it depends a bit on the location of the road and how severe the damage is. A main road that has a crack or hole in it will often get a quick fix with under a week. a side street it can take up to a month. and some actual rural road may only get that temporary fix and will not get a actual fix until that road is redone entirely. (that can be a few years depending on the traffic load)

I can say going in to a Wallmart like shop as a Dutch person myself is a attraction by it self. It's fascinating to see but also insane when you realise you can really buy everything you need. like really everything. For us it would be like sticking a Albert Hein XL, IKEA, C&A, Action, Praxis, Intratuin, Kruitvat, Hans Anders van Haren and a Kwikfit in one building. O and there is always a dedicated petrol station outside and often a fast-food joint both on the parking lot as often one in the store. Plus they are open 24/7 to the point that you could live in there if they would have added a bed.
2
@mikerichardson60 more the opposite. using less material and in doing so creating less maintenance cost is cheaper. even if they would charge the same they could build the road and keep the initial building cost and have a party with that. it's still cheaper on the long run.
2
@AimlessSavant in Italy they might see that as a challenge to get a bigger phallic shaped drawing next to it.
2
@tristanridley1601 it's not just a street more the network in total can not handle the sharp influx of tourist we get in the summer time. As we go from about 20.000 people normal. to 180.000 in summer. most of them are tourist on there bikes.
2
@rendomstranger8698 you can get them for free often at the end of the school year. a lot of international students just want to be rid of there bike and you can often just take it over. (maybe a 6 pack of beer for the effort)
1
@TheDiner50 my home town is just not capable to have busses in a lot of the streets. as in they are not made for them. and also a lot of less mobile people here still use''special'' bikes. We are still Dutch in that way. you can take away my legs but not my ability to use a bike. also you would need to find a company that would like to run those busses.
1
@tansytansy or other option campaign to be that executive. A city council exist by it's voters.
1
@annother3350 they still create a lot of noise do to the tires rolling on the road. often that noise is even with patrol cars the most noticeable part.
1
@tommiturmiola3682 or make the lanes wide enough that a maintenance car/trucks can just drive over them. That is what they do over here. in that way they also can serve as access routes for first responders when they need to be at a incident at a bike lane.
1
@tommiturmiola3682 that can work yes. they do use them here every now and than but they are often seen as ton heavy for a average bike path. here they mainly use street sweepers or vans both with a plow in front if needed and a salt in the back. however in most cases the salt is enough as they start the treatment preventive as soon as the night temperature drops below 0c. If we get snow like you do we just stop functioning for those 2 days.
1
@Bandit-Darville and starting from 1 January 2022 all 2 wheeled mopeds blue and yellow plated are all required to where a helmet.
1
for me as a Dutch person that much snow on the road does deter me to get on my bike or even walk outside. but that is more do to them becoming very slippery ice very fast. And it is not nice to fall down do to the ice.
1
there is quite a lot of money in the marked for old building materials.
1
@jjs9672 he is a adult not a student anymore.
1
@MartijnVos at some point they are experimenting with how to slow down cyclists at hotspots. In a way similar like they do with cars.
1
@noosebrother There are often not even a dedicated crosswalk near. and it's not that people don't pay attention. more the opposite because they are not at a dedicated crosswalk they will pay much more attention.
1
@OpaSpielt you guys also do this at bike path when you visit the Netherlands.
1
if I take that orange pill nothing would chains for me. or would it take me to that exact street in A'dam then it would be useful as a fast travel form.
1
Just add enough locks and chains to the bike. I have like 2 chains, 2 lock cables and 4 separated high safety locks above the build in lock. You need a professional cutting torch to get that thing open with out the keys. and even then I have a tracker in it so even if they steal it. they will be located with in a hour or two.
1
@Dark__Thoughts yes i am. The idea is that people will be motivated to steal your locks not the bike.
1
@lunasophia9002 wait it's Chicken Boo?
1
the good thing about those walkable island with in is if the people get used to them and see the (direct) benefit to them. they might be willing to make the next step and connect some of those islands to bigger islands. then the chance that those starting point places to become more permanent or with only very reduced traffic. (like one lane one way streets for local use only)
1
with the wide road at 4:50 the high rise next to it for once does fit. as you get a bit of a canion effect.
1
@ChaoticNeutralMatt i have never wached dr Who bit most likely
1
@steemlenn8797 well I have but there where just not enough roadway.
1
@jsb7975 tell you what? that the public transportation is not as frequent in most places in the Netherlands outside of the Randstad?
1
@alcidesforever not really if we are in luck we get 1 bus a hour during the week and often none in the weekend. Zeeland is really bad with that outside of the tourist season.
1
@GregVidua the problem where I live is that we are surrounded by a lot of water. that's how most of the entire province of Zeeland is so poorly connected if you compare it with the rest of the Netherlands.
1
1
For me as A Dutch person I just got in to the channel because that's what we do when you mention anything Dutch related. O and don't forget the often very dry humor you use . The dryer the better.
1
@TheLyricalCleric you could try and get in contact with people on the city council. They could drum op support from out of the council itself. and if that does not work. maybe look in to becoming that council member next period. I did in my hometown. it is tough but still nice to do.
1
There is a point where more lanes will reduce traffic. you just need to add so much lanes to it that there is just nothing left but said road. like a 7000 (seven thousand) lane road. (that is 7000 per direction) at a certain point there will be no destination left be sites the road it self.
