Great analysis but the support those defenders have is not the same, in the 80s we were mostly united in fighting the communist, today we got 40% who will easily hand over to an authoritarian for cheap gasoline, no regs, and a muted Bill of Rights. Putin and China (Epoch News) knew easily how to divide us via social media pretty cheaply I might add. So all Putin has to do is hope the Congress changes and suddenly the majority of US support will stop, the minority who believe in the Soviet propaganda will want all support to stop, Putin wins, China wins, communism wins in the long run. I wish I could be more optimistic but the groups I see seem to be in a reality of their own. If the US today was mostly like the US of them, then absolutely Ukraine on top, some "stealthy" incursions would decimate the border and Putin would retreat.

It's an interesting premise that Putin set these guys in so they would have to resort to primal medieval type thinking with limited support if there was massive resistance, essentially a feature in the flawed planning. Then the war crimes might force Ukraine to give many concessions early to make them stop but that didn't happen here. This guy no doubt committed some crimes and the guilt weighed heavily on him, maybe not the absolute worst war crimes that we have heard of so far but he and others in his unit most likely crossed many lines. Does he deserve full amnesty? No, and going back to Ukraine for some level of judgement is warranted in time. I do find it hard to believe the CIA or MI6 has not met this guy and already relocated him out of France to be questioned.

It was a different time back then, this last decade thanks to a young lie utterance at a SOTU speech raked in millions, 10 seconds clips and podcast rage and tons of disinformation on Twitter translates to big campaign donations. There are no more rational spirited debates between adults It's a 3 ring circus on one side and the other is gripped by the angry 20-30% who believe in space lasers and are eager to act on what think is tyranny. Couple that with rational ideas and of course the tragedies home and abroad are being drowned out by the corporate media with their bothsidesism. I'm hopeful but seeing as we just got Florida's 3rd Senator to stop his hold on a couple military command positions yesterday with hundreds more in waiting I'm not going my breath.
