  1. i remember the 3 elephants at the TO zoo and what a fight zoo officials put up to keep them at the TO zoo! And i remember the tiny, cement pen they had to wander around in.....no toys to be seen. The barns were concrete as well. Now they're in the southern US, in acres and acres of grasslands and woods.

  2. how about the Israeli babies that are now just cinders? That was pretty bad as well. American experts say that Hamas rockets tend to be homemade and about a third land in Gaza. Israel was undergoing a rocket barrage when the hospital was hit.

  4. Israel has found that pfizer vaccine antibodies are decreasing rapidly after 4-5 mos, in the elderly and ill. Moderna seems to be going the same way. AstraZeneca antibodies are staying relatively high. One study of ppl who have had covid, said their antibodies are strong and plentiful....and that's after a year. They're recommending 2-3 boosters a year, especially for the elderly.

  5. the Ukrainians were more "wanted" than other immigrants because they were supposed to go home in 2 yrs....they're not here forever, just til the war is over. We had 30 million ppl in 1997....a few weeks ago we hit 40 million....97% are immigrants. A one bedroom apt in a small town in Ont is the same price as in a big city....NEITHER is affordable if you're a senior on govt pension only......a studio apt isn't affordable either, and i have no idea what ppl on disability are doing (they get less) .   9. the USA forced down Evo Morales, the President of Peru's, plane in Europe because they thought Ed Snowden MIGHT be on it. He wasn't, but if he had been he would have been dragged off a plane that had diplomatic immunity. And we're upset at Belarus because.....why? It's ok if the West does it, but not if Belarus pulls ppl off a plane?

  12. YUP! they've pretty much killed a friend of mine. She had just been diagnosed with cancer and had started treatment when covid hit...and they suspended her chemo. Now it's in her liver and abdomen, and she's done, i suspect (not that i tell her.)

  13. dunno why they're so upset....this 'new " strain of covid has been in Italy since Sept. It's probably all over the EU....it's just that Britain was the first country to find it and report it. And the EU is angry over Brexit...so they're sticking it to the UK in every way they can....It's WAY likely that the new variant is in both Canada and the USA...

  14. about 15 or 20 yrs ago, 15,000 French died from heat stroke in 'august of that year. They were mostly the elderly.....there's very limited air conditioning over there, and families go to the seaside for August holiday, leaving Granny and Gramps at home in the heat.

  18. as well as limiting the ppl in restaurants, sports venues, entertainment and many other industries. All of our local stores still have signs on their doors limiting the number of ppl in the store, so they don't need many employees. All the best to you!!

  20.  @supersider5384  the Americans are vaccinating EVERYBODY in the fall....3rd shot for all adults. And not to worry, i had covid for Christmas last year..it started a couple of days before, so no, i didn't spread it. I'm older, fat unfit and have TERRIBLE lungs (asthma not smoking)...by rights i should have been in the morgue. Not the greatest 10 days of my life...non stop cough, splitting headache, SO tired!!...but not the worst either. I didn't even have to see a dr, and didn't end up in the hospital. There's a Dr in N Alberta who had one of the first communities of ppl to get the Moderna vaccine....let's just say he had a rough time with all the side effects. So i'd rather not get an mRNA vaccine....especially since now there are studies that say mRNA antibodies last only 4-5 mos, and immunity from covid is still going strong after a year (some of the ppl they tested had had covid in March 2020.)   24. The Post Millenial pointed out that the Que curfew means that grocery stores have to close at 7 PM....that means that everyone who works... and there are many... will have just an hour and a half to get food. So they will all congregate at those stores and spread the disease

  36.  @michaelanderson3096  way cool! I had a terrible time renting an apt in early '22. I'm retired, and you have to apply by computer......one required field is your full time job information. If you couldn't put something, you couldn't apply. One thing that stunned me was driving down to the end of James St N (you know, near the harbour).....there were almost 6 blocks of townhouses and low rise apt buildings., ....all of which are being allowed to rot in place....no doors or windows, black insides, etc. They could be fixed up for the homeless as well. All the best to you!! (ps finally got an apt after 2 and a half months. I'd been kicked out of an apt after 25 yrs....rent controlled. You know, paint the place double the rent. I'd never missed a rent payment in all 25 yrs...in full and on time......and have a fair bit of savings...) pps.....apts EVERYwhere in Ont are very expensive.....a one bedroom in a small town is the same price as a one bedroom in Hamilton.

  37. actually, they kind of have answers now....South Africa has had it since early Nov. Vaxxed ppl there seem to have fairly mild signs. But in Soweto, which is poor and basically unvaxxed, nearby hospitals are being hit with quite ill ppl. Seems to be more transmissible, but not more lethal. according to the South African Drs who are treating ppl.

  38. the fluffing Drs killed my best friend from high school. She developed colon cancer ....early stages... YAY! (early stages are treatable) but after a chemo treatment or 2, covid broke out and her chemo was suspended. By the time they started up again, the cancer was in her liver. She died the day after Betty White. It's not as if there were no beds/ Drs/ nurses...they were just afraid that she would get covid....and make more work for the covid staff. The fact that untreated cancer kills pretty much 100% of the patients....long slow and lots of suffering...wasn't factored in at all, apparently.

They'll even mandate tiny children....no school for you unless you're vaccinated!! All the best to you! ps the new group will be children because of the school thing.   50. one of the scariest movies i ever saw was a cheap TV movie from many yrs ago. Everything got hitched up to computers, and then a big solar flare knocked all the power out. No aliens, no mass murderers....just ppl struggling to survive with no computers, no electricity. The worst was the hospital trying to keep ppl alive while they used flashlights...and that's about all.
