  7. Average condo size in Toronto is 850 sq.ft. This could be about 105 housing units (100K divide by 850 is about 117 but subtract out about 10K sq.ft. for lobby, hallways etc).

  8. As usual biased view from CP24. Whenever something happens in the city they report the little intersection or street that it occurred at. But when it happens in Scarborough they have to mention Scarborough as many times as possible and put it in the title to give the impression that Scarborough is a violent dangerous place. Even when things don't happen in Scarborough but to the east of downtown they say "East end" to give the impression of Scarborough. First this didn't really happen in Scarborough. This happened on the 401 on a section that happens to pass through Scarborough. These could be people passing through the city and not even stopping in the city. Second Scarborough is safer then the rest of the city. Third this was Port Union. It was barely into Scarborough. It was closer to Pickering Ajax then other parts of Scarborough.

There are no encampments anywhere near where I am but still have the same broken benches and picnic tables with over flowing garbage containers as other parks. 99% of parks don't have encampments. Blaming encampments is just giving lazy union workers and excuse not to do their job.

By law a city cannot run a deficit. Mississauga however is facing a $12B infrastructure planning deficit and will need to find a way to cut $44M out of the budget in order to balance their budget or raise taxes. Crombie is not a "hero" by balancing the budget she had to by law. If there was no law to balance the budget she would have run up massive deficits the same way she will if she were ever voted as Premier. And she will hike up your taxes to pay for waste the same way she did as mayor

  20. "Police north of Toronto"??? WTF??? Woodbine and Steelcase Road is MARKHAM. And they clearly say Gwillimbury that is up to an hour north of places in Toronto. This has nothing to do with Toronto. Report is for what it is....took place in MARKHAM and ended in Gwillimbury. Not Toronto. No need to even mention Toronto.

  21. aaahhhhh yes more biased reporting from CP24. If something happens in any part of the city CP24 will report the small intersection that it took place at. You have to live in the immediate area to know where it happened. But when something happens in Scarborough they have to put it in the title and repeat it as many times as possible. Scarborough is the largest (or 2nd) borough in the city. It is a large area. Pharmacy and Sheppard is no where near a place like the Scarborough Bluffs. And because it is so large of course like any large area with a large population crime will occur but not on the scale that CP24 makes it out to be. Scarborough is the safest borough in the city to live in. Two people were stabbed and killed and it was barely reported and when it was it was a short clip with no mention of the larger area that it took place in. Something happens in Scarborough and it is front and center with "Scarborough" in the title and repeated numerous times. What a bias $hit news source.

  22. Holy $hit did CP24 actually put the location this took place? Usually when something happens in Scarborough they put "Scarborough" in the title and try to mention "Scarborough" as many times as possible to make it seem like it is a dangerous place to live. But when something like this happens anywhere else in the city they only mention the smallest intersection that it took place at so unless you live directly in that area you would have no idea where in the city it took place. I am shocked they actually put "North York". Maybe they are finally understanding that not all crime occurs in Scarborough but in many other areas of the city and Scarborough is a very safe place to live. It is about time they stop trying to paint Scarborough as a dangerous place and start posting the proper location of crime no matter where it occurs throughout the city.

It is meant to reduce crime and a simple comparison of any country that does freeze guns, have strict laws or ban guns to a country like the US proves it works. 3- road rage happens at all times of the day....why does it need to be before midnight?

  30. If she wants to invoke a Sovereignty Act then go ahead but we should also then cut off all federal funding to Alberta and let them fund their own projects and programs. You can't ask for sovereignty on one hand then take money from the rest of Canada with the other hand. Also the Constitution is very clear on what falls under provincial jurisdiction and what falls under federal jurisdiction. And it is also clear that when there is conflict between the two levels federal jurisdiction takes priority. She should stop her grandstanding.

  34. 1- you are not a slave to anything. You have the right to choose to live in a rental unit or not. Nobody is forcing you to pick where you live 2- Landlords are producing a service. They are providing you the service of a place to live. If not for that place to live you could be living on the street. 3- Landlords are not living off your productivity. They are living off an investment they made with their own money and you have no right to tell anyone what to do with their own money. If you are that upset then it goes back to point #1 above.....you don't have to live there you can choose somewhere else. 4- nobody is stopping you from having kids....maybe if you find a woman and actually have sex you may have kids. 5- this is not a start of any war....stop being a little drama queen.

Why can CP24 say "Scarborough" over and over and put it in the title when something happens in Scarborough but they don't seem capable of saying "York" or "North York". Biased BS reporting. North West corner suggests this was YORK. Report it the same everywhere in the city. You report the borough when it is in Scarborough then report the borough when it is in another borough like YORK

Maybe it is an on going investigation so they don't want to release information yet. Maybe it is too early. Maybe they have released it and it is on another video that came out after this one.   42. you should look up the real details about what happened with that lady that sued McDonalds for the hot coffee. I don't remember them all but high level the McDonalds is not supposed to serve beverages over a certain temperature (I think it was even by law not a company policy) but McDonalds continually served it nearly twice the temperature in order to save costs on dumping old coffee and making a new pot. They then served that coffee to the lady with a faulty cup lid. When it spilled on her lap (not drank it) she got third degree burns and had to go to the hospital. She didn't have full coverage (because you know it was the US where healthcare is garbage) so she asked McDonalds to cover her out of pocket expenses (it was something along the lines of a few hundred dollars- maybe low thousands). Instead of trying to work a deal with her (or in most billion $ corps just give her a couple of bucks to go away) they created a smear ad campaign against her that made her look like she wasn't smart enough to know how to drink a cup of coffee. In the end they still settled on a deal that cost them way more than they would have spent if they just gave her a few hundred bucks for her expenses. Again I don't remember the full story but the main point is the lady was actually in the right and McDonalds did everything wrong and tried to cover their error in a smear campaign. Look it up. It is pretty interesting read.

Scarborough is only a part of Toronto so if the entire city is violent then why do they only call out Scarborough and make it appear like only violence happens there? If the entire city is violent then crime should be reported the same way no matter where the crime takes place.

  46. who cares. They are still the same team. Nothing really changed except the "A" on his jersey changed to a "C". They will still be eliminated in the first round. Problem with the Leafs is not who the captain is but who the fans are. Fans keep showing up to games and buying Leafs Jerseys, TV Cable packages and other Leafs garbage the owners will never have any incentive to change or put a winning team on the ice. At least Harold Ballard was honest with everyone when he said why should he put a winning team on the ice when people still show up in the stands. All this change does is give the owners an opportunity to sell more jerseys as fans swap their "Mathews" jerseys with the "A" on it to one with a "C" And in May they will be crying when the Leafs are eliminated again. Until the fans change there won't be any change on the ice.

Most of those construction jobs are skilled labour and once you have your trade most of the trades are unionized that you have to go through years of apprenticeships that barely pay minimum wage. Takes years before you get to $40 plus an hour.
