  2. I'm in the UK and my wife is diabetic. She pays nothing for insulin, not a penny. Insulin and test strips and blood sugar monitors and medical appointments are all free. Yes I pay more tax than I would in the US but my tax is still less than US taxes plus a good health insurance policy for the whole family. The maximum for any prescription in the UK is £9 per item for a week supply but for nearly all long term illnesses it's free and for pensioners or unemployed or children it's free. Unfortunately, our current government wants to change to the US system, fortunately, they'll be out before they have the chance to do it

Degree coursework and exams are not marked purely on the final conclusion, a large proportion of the marks go towards you explanation and reasoning of how you arrived at that conclusion. The ability to show that reasoning is incredibly important. For example, I work in engineering and if I want to check another engineers calculation then it is far easier to do so if I can read through their process and check each stage rather than do the entire calculation from start to finish as I would if I just had a result to check. It is also far easier to show them their mistakes and help them understand why they're wrong.

  9. Here in the UK, we have a similar idiot to Peterson, Jacob Rees-Mogg. He too talks absolute rubbish and because he has a posh accent and uses long words his supporters think he is a genius. In reality, he's easily outwitted and crumbles when anyone provides a counter argument or even just pushes him to elaborate on what he's already said. Despite attending one of the most expensive schools in the world, he only has a BA qualification and only a 2:1 in that, I went to state run schools and managed a MEng with distinction while drinking a lot of beer at university and would consider myself of average intelligence on a good day.

  10. Austin's great tax plan seems fair. If a husband leaves his wife for another woman and leaves the kids with her then she loses her tax break. I can't see how anyone could argue against that....

I grew up in Britain in the 80's at that time, we had the Conservatives banning punk music, rave music, horror films, soft core pornography. They were also trying to ban heavy metal because they thought it was satanic. Even if it was satanic (and some was) why ban it? Monty Python films were banned because the church didn't like them. Cancel culture was invented by the right.

  15. My first experience of Kanye was at the Glastonbury festival. I was just passing the stage where he was performing to go and see another band and he chose that moment to proclaim "I am the greatest rock star in the world right now" at that moment I realised he was a dick but I severely underestimated how much of a dick. He wasn't even the greatest rock star to play that stage on that day.

I'm in the UK so if my boss comes in with a contagious illness I can tell him to f**k off out of my space and he cannot fire me or punish me and if I go in sick, he can send me home and I'll get full sick pay. I can also do the right thing, phone in sick, get full sick pay and go back when I feel better and face no repercussions. I would not like to be a worker in the US.

  31. People are getting paranoid about the word algorithm now. Every piece of computer software is essentially an algorithm, they're harmless unless written with malicious intent. I wrote an algorithm last week to control a pump based on instrument readings. It will not effect your free speech or steal your data at all.
