I used to work in automotive engineering. I guarantee there are parts on your car in Britain that are only there to comply with US regulations and others for Asian regulations and others for Russian regulations. Manufacturers make as few variations on a product as possible so each product has to comply with regulations for as many countries as possible. That's always been the case and brexit will make no difference at all to it.

@allenf3193 The tories are in power now, what they are doing is screwing things up now. The old "but what about Labour" response just does nothing but suggest that you have nothing to defend the tories
1
What needs addressing is developers showing shops, schools, community centers etc in planning applications to get them approved and then never building them. It happens all the time and they need to be legally tied to build those facilities.
1
No. None at all
1
As much as I despise the tories, I don't like the idea of an unopposed government. I think an effective opposition is important in order to maintain some balance.
1
@alanfrost4661 there was more left then than there is now. All the assets have been sold off and the national debt considerably more than doubled.

I'd love to see Hunt try telling my father he needs to give up retirement and go back to work. I'd even drop him off at A&E afterwards.
1
@JahangirAlom-yo7sg Galloway is an independent, he cannot become PM because the PM is the leader of the party with the largest number of seats in Parliament. An independent can get a maximum of one seat so cannot become PM. Also, only the people in his constituency can vote for Galloway
1
@haveyaseenmiwhippet9069 individual countries were in recession. The EU is a trading group, not a single economy. Each individual nation has its own economic policies
1
Do his supporters realise that this will cost the US tax payer hundreds of billions of dollars
1
They won't be. Defections are not prioritised over loyal Labour candidates already in place
1
@jonsimmons4150 quite a lot of people told us before tge vote tgat it would be
1
I wish my local MP was just watching gentleman's special interest films. He was photographed with lines of white powder on a silver tray with a straw (sugar he claims!) and accused of sexual harassment by three of his staff so he's checked himself in to a mental hospital
1
@andyhulme2274 Farage was the leader of UKIP at the time. Although he wasn't an MP, he had MP's in his party.

I was working in the automotive supply chain in 2016. We were working on several important components for Mercedes, BMW and Porsche. We knew we were cheaper than our competitors and our product performed better (clever bit of design by me!) but immediately after the vote they lost interest in our product despite having investigated a significant amount in it. Our work rapidly tailed off and the business owners decided to move to Germany. I immediately left the industry even though I really enjoyed it.
1
@baronvonlimbourgh1716 They're doing nothing about my local MP who was photographed with a big pile of cocaine
1
Third time he's threatened to leave, not the second
1
The next problem with the upgrades needed to infrastructure will be the massive skills shortage due to Cameron cutting funding for apprenticeships and raising tuition fees.
1
@miakeogh6844 well the tories have been cutting education
1
Im a heavily tattooed member of an overtly political metal band. Im going nowhere near the US. Its not worth the risk.
1
Another tax break for the well off. Poor people couldn't retire before state pension age.
1
I should be prime target for the tories. Middle age, living in a nice are, middle class, home owner, etc but unfortunately for them I want the working classes prioritised since they are the back bone of this country.
1
Since our last tory MP was caught doing cocaine with a prostitute (yes, seriously) Lib Dems are by far the biggest party here with an enormous majority. Reform get nowhere here, partly because their last candidate was a well known local violent thug.
1
Im surprised she can spell her name
1
But all of that is Labours fault apparently
1
Theres a very good functional reason reason for not burying power lines. They get hot and having them out in the open allows that heat to dissipate and they then run cooler and more efficiently. Also, cable strikes are a bit nasty with 400,000 volts. That would kill anyone within 25 metres. Cable strikes happen a lot during excavation.
1
My employer has been pretty relaxed on working from home and thats allowed the company to expand because it means they don't need more office space. If it weren't for WFH they wouldn't have expanded because the cost of moving to larger premises would have been a big risk.
1
I did in 2010 and deeply regret it
1
Our local tory MP is David Warburton. He was caught out in dodgy financial deals, sexual harassment and photographed with a pile of cocaine. He is still our MP, they removed the whip while he's under investigation. A year later he's still under investigation, still our MP, still doing no work, still receiving his salary plus £50k for his secretary (wife).
1
Was that a camera? I thought it was a coat hook.
1
He's handling it much better than Corbyn did. His handling of the press smear campaign was his downfall
1
I worked with someone who apparently never did anything. All his jobs went wrong be he denied all involvement with all of them. He was promoted to senior management
1
@Noel-ji8nm no one is going to do a costed manifesto until an election is called. That's how it always works. What's the point in doing one in advance only for the government to do something which swallows up a chunk of the available budget?
1
@marcusbradley2382 To be perfectly honest, I don't see how they could do worse than the tories. They couldn't be any more corrupt because that would be impossible, they couldn't be any more incompetent because that would also be impossible. They would raise taxes on the rich and close tax loopholes both of which are the opposite to what the tories have done so that would be good for the vast majority of people. They would privatise the energy industry and, looking at France, that would be good for the public because you don't have companies making record profits while we get screwed. I fail to see how exactly it would be worse. Tories are no longer the party of low taxes. Remember that 5p tax cut on petrol recently? That was less than the increase in VAT due to price rises so we still pay more tax on fuel than this time last year.
1
The UK had offshore processing, in Calais. Boris decided we didn't want to do that anymore and here we are
1
My two nephews went to private boarding school and were taken out due to bullying for being poor. They were a long way from most people's idea of poor.
1
According to polls to gauge how popular Truss is, they found that more British people believe the earth is flat than support Truss
1
No. Sometimes a government needs to do something unpopular in order to do the right thing.
1
He also thinks he can win over the traditionally tory South west England. Nearly all those constituencies switched to lib dems, the opposition direction to reform
1
Did the "clean up" after the party include disposal of a body? That would explain why it was so expensive.
1
Surely by now everyone who wants the vaccine has it. I don't know of anyone still waiting
1
@annewalden3795 which political party do you think those medical staffing agencies donate to? I'll give you a clue, it begins with con
1
Is this increasing the likelihood of an earlier election?
1
Professor Steppenwolf?
1
Hold on, this can't be right. I thought you only go broke if you go woke
1
Im surprised the mail didn’t report it as "Overpaid teacher gets karma for striking"
1
My friends business is doing great because of brexit. His business is based in Italy though
1
Well done on your pronunciation of Frome. Everyone gets it wrong. Tories have no chance here. Leaving us with no representation for the last year has not gone down well.
1
So we're going to ditch a system used by virtually world wide system of measures and chhange to a system used by only one other major economy but we'll be using a different version if it to them because US imperial isn't the same as British imperial.
1
I'm also in the 40% band. I'm pretty comfortable but I'm pi$$Ed off with the state of the country. I'd rather pay a little more and see our services restored.
