He was our local MP. He did nothing for the constituency, didn't show up for clinics and became very unpopular. It's hardly surprising he's gone

Cutting inflation does not mean prices fall, it means they rise at a slower rate.
93
Hold on. What happened to all the money we'd gain due to Brexit? Surely Britain should be in great shape with that?
63
Or whether Americans want to pay for it
51
Here's a radical idea. How about putting some effort in to getting the NHS working again so sick people can get treated and get healthy enough to work rather than just forcing sick people to work.
46
The vaccine reduces cases where symptoms are present. No coughing means much lower risk of transmission
43
@Surfer-727 What countries has the US out survived? It's a relatively young country. My house is older than the US
39
If we let them win again then we're effectively telling them that we're fine with them raising our taxes, giving billions to their mate and destroying our public services while giving (not selling) them to their donors to operate at profit. I'm not fine with that.
36
Interesting that their minimum salary threshold for skilled workers is higher than the salary for most nurses, junior doctors and teachers. I think that says a lot
34
If it was poor people on board, they'd have given up before they started
34
The ironic thing is Farage wants LESS regulation on banks. That means he would be opposed to telling banks who they can and can't do business with.
30
As long as there's racism, there will be support for BLM. If people stop being racist, BLM become irrelevant
30
@Phylicity Over 90% of people on benefits have a job. Benefits are basically subsidising low wages in this country
28
It reduces cases where symptoms are present. No coughing means significantly less transmission
28
Lots of people have been saying it. The opposition have said it a lot. Unfortunately, no one who can sack him has said it
26
It was predicted in the 90's to be 1.5 degrees by 2030. Nothing has moved
25
Not just a failure to sack him, Boris defended him
24
@foxon172 No, there are definitely some good politicians with morals and standards. They are generally kept on the back benches out of the way
21
It's generally been pretty accurate. Which prediction was wrong so far? Be aware, there's a lot of false claims about predictions made. I read an article recently claiming that scientists in the 90's predicted sea levels would rise 10 metres by 2025, so I wen't back and found predictions from that era and they predicted 200mm. The actual rise has been 180mm so thats not far off
21
Maybe if the tories had built some new prisons we wouldn't be in this mess.
20
@taffyterrier Go and look up junior doctors salary. They are a long, long way from even moderately wealthy let alone super rich. £35000 is pretty crappy after spending £70k on education to get there
20
This is only going to make the shortages of staff even worse. Even more will be leaving and even more will be put off joining the profession
20
We don't need more houses, we need something to stop landlords buying everything suitable as starter homes before they're even advertised. There are a group of landlords working with estate agents in our town to make sure they get every 2 bedroom home before it's advertised for sale. Then they put it up for rent for £1500 per month
20
And she's a great man
20
Super power? When did the United States last win a war? They've even lost the war on drugs
20
Just out of curiosity I googled Infosys and nuclear power. That answered the question for me
20
@crappymeal No they aren't
19
He's a great bloke
18
Why don't the unionists take advantage of the fact that NI now has this unique trading position, one of the best in the world and use that as an arguement against reunification? In NI reunifies with ROI then they lose the free access to the UK market which they now have as well as free access to the EU single market. NI is the only country in the world with this dual access, take it as a win.
17
I absolutely guarantee that that £36bn will only ever be used to fund tax cuts for the rich
17
Judging by the comments, that's all anti-vaxxers, conspiracy theorists and the occasional religious nut who blames everything on Satanists
17
Do parents need to go to work every day to survive? Yes. School 5 days a week is essential for more than just education
17
Of course he stokes divisions, that's exactly what ALL politicians do all the time
16
@KaleemAkbar786 Because that doesn't happen to Tory MP's. Look at how many were arrested over fraudulent expenses claims?
16
Neither did Trump. He's equally responsible since he initiated the withdrawl. Trump should have never started it, Biden should have stopped it
16
Why? Students families can only get a visa. They can't claim permanent residency, they can't claim any benefits or support, they don't cost us anything so what's the issue? It's foreign students who keep our universities open, they pay far more than British students. Once our universities are gone, where do we train the next generation of engineers, architects, scientists, lawyers etc, etc? Britain was built by great engineers and those who design and create tech & structures can only get their knowledge of science and maths at university.
16
Pumping billions of tonnes of gasses in to the atmosphere each year cannot come without consequence. Even if climate change isn't real, breathing cleaner air and drinking cleaner water has to be better for all of us.
16
@jamesrobert102 It's done by an "independent" body with a head selected by the government so not independent at all
16
But since then, Sunak has promised transparency and has delivered exactly that, we can all see right though him
15
Labour left a programme in place to replace all of these schools and a substantial amount of money. If that programme had continued then this wouldn't be happening. So yes, it is a tory problem. No one can instantly fix it because it's too widespread and will take time to engage contractors, plan how to fix each case and then get workers in to do it. We have quite a shortage of construction workers which is not going to help
15
No they aren't. They are complaining about being forced to accept a contract which gives them worse hours, conditions and benefits. It's the lower paid staff who are pushing for a rise and good luck to them
15
@abim3365 No, the money goes to keeping our universities open and keeping fees down for British students and funding research and facilities
15
I'm in Somerton so I'll be voting today. The tories aren't even trying here. I've met canvassers from every party except the conservatives. I've also had leaflets through the door from every party except the tories. I've seen all except the tories campaigning in the town center and on local tv. They won by 20,000 in the last election, you'd think they'd make an effort to keep it since this is probably the one they have the best chance of winning. I'm starting to wonder whether they know there's a byelection today.
15
Junior doctors are not highly paid. GP's and consultants are highly paid, the rest are barely above average salary having spent £70k on student debt to get there
14
@captricharddee3634 That's not going to happen as long as Labour have a huge majority. Snap elections are only ever called when a government can't get policies through parliament and that's not going to be an issue for Labour
14
I couldn't believe the frequency of services in France. Most of them are municiple run services with the essentials but it works
14
@katarzynaidzikowska5359 Why would surgeons wear them if they don't prevent the spread of virus? To look cool?
14
Because this has become a low wage economy. Something the tories have aided by backing the employers in every single wage dispute
14
I often refer to adjusting my gentleman parts as a cabinet reshuffle and to be honest that is probably more beneficial to the country than Sunak's cabinet reshuffle
14
No, it should be illegal. They already have a full time job which they are very well paid for
