Not to mention Dwight D. Eisenhower was a Republican and more German than SS commandant Karl Chmielewski.

@aleksazunjic9672 Technically, Russia was one of their enemies. Stepan Petrichenko was arrested by the Finnish authorities in 1941. On the basis of an armistice agreement between the USSR, Great Britain and Finland, Petrichenko was sent to the USSR. He died on June 2, 1947, while being transported.

@aleksazunjic9672 Although Aleksei Brusilov was given an honourable state funeral in 1926, Russian officers were definitely persecuted in the 1930s and 1940s.
6
@fiddlersgreen2433 Mannerheim was in Russia for 30 years, but says in the preface to his memoirs that he had no notes of that time. On the other hand, I'm sure that someone has already written the history of Russia 1887-1917. I don't think it is a problem as long as the bias is known. I'd rather listen to that person (ghost writer Aladár Paasonen) than someone who was raised by a Communist university.

@AgendaFiles Elections to the Reichstag during Nazi rule took the form of a single-question referendum asking whether voters approved of a single list of Nazis. In that situation, voting is like going to church. Y'all should take a look at this list of freedom indices: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_freedom_indices

@Justin_Kipper They still have famine and slave labor in North Korea. It never ends. "Failing to show up for work without permission is a crime punishable by three to six months in forced labor training camps (rodong dallyeondae)." https://www.hrw.org/world-report/2019/country-chapters/north-korea
6
Because they were criminals. He put some socialists in prison, executed some Nazis, and killed Rommel. I guess members were all kinds of people from nazbols to monarchists, since it became a catch-all party. I'd say he was a left leaning third positionist.
6
Moreover, North Korea is an interesting combination of monarchy, socialism and nationalism.
6
I think Heinrich Himmler was as smart as Bernard Montgomery. On the other hand, Freddie de Guingand was smarter than Himmler. Authoritarian leaders fear talented individuals, which often leads to micromanaging and mistakes.
6
There are not so many jews in Austria. When less than 1% of the population disappears while 5% of Catholics die, you would necessarily pay attention.
6
@nantenknight83 This only proves the racial theories to be correct. Semi-German children were rejected because they weren't genetically similar. As a result, the whole of Eastern Europe disintegrated into ethnic states, causing problems that can still be seen in Ukraine.
6
@gking407 They are mostly fascists whose favorite color is red. Not that I miss the Communists
6
Well done. I like the Italian/yugo uniforms of Ljotic's troops. Also, I noticed that they drink raki, which can be a problem.
6
@Mocsk As you said, they went way beyond the 1920-1939 border. Ryti and Mannerheim decided to stop the attack for political reasons. In an interview in 1978, General A.F Airo stated that the attack should have been continued. Karelian is the closest relative of the Finnish language and should not be confused with the so-called Karelian dialects of Finnish. For example, Dutch is the closest language to English. This does not mean that these nations are automatically allies. And like America's indigenous languages, smaller languages have blended into the mainstream. http://www.elupuu.org/index.php?id=52

@artiombeknazaryan7542 Interestingly, Stalin was by chance the best nation-builder when compared to, say, Iraq. Indeed, Stalin removed Mannerheim from the list of war culprits because he considered him a guarantor of peace.
6
@SniperDiplomat That's what I said. Most enterprises in East Germany were nationalised following World War II. However, slave labor is unpaid community work. Moreover, Social Corporatism is only a democratic version of the same basic principle (National income policy agreement ). So I think there is a connection to the welfare state, which is inspired by Marxism and Menshevism.
6
@ImperativeGames Being able to travel in Finland also made it easier for them. American colonel George E. Huthsteiner was military Attaché to the three Baltic states and Finland. He inspected Finnish troops in Karhumäki (Medvezhyegorsk) 17.09.1942. Crazy to see an American officer on the eastern front.
6
@fabiofaria4243 Sweden is now suffering from gullibility and is turning into Michigan.
6
@seanmac1793 Finland also raised overall taxes to 28% and made cash useless by literally cutting the banknotes in half (1945-46), during the Mannerheim administration. People were able to own land and real estate, but they had to do a lot of communal work.
6
If you change the date the attacker will change. France and Belgium occupied the Ruhr Valley in 1923.

I wish the US would have dissolved into two countries without a fight, in the 1860s. But I don't worry about it.
5
I'm pretty sure it's about Greece-Turkey dispute. Not much to do with the Nazis.
5
@360Nomad Hitler rightly suspected the officers of the General Staff, which was indeed the source of many conspiracies against Hitler. He would have been killed if he had finally gone mental.
5
@KnightofAges Our beloved father of nations is resting his eyelids.
5
At the end of WW1, Finnish white government offered to cover all the expenses for the Germans to occupy Helsinki. The city had been under anarcho-communist control for 11 weeks. It took them a couple of days to liberate Helsinki.
5
Pedro Kantor AH actually used that last term, but I would call it Bushmen’s socialism (social bushmen?). As has been studied, there is near perfect gender equality in the society of hunter-gatherers. However, a lot of Social Justice is based on Stalin’s thoughts, on population transfers, etc.
5
In my opinion, it was mostly due to cultural and geographical proximity. In addition, Icelanders and Finns favor republics over monarchy. Several countries switched sides to avoid a civil war. In other words, the Allies occupy Iceland. Germany occupies Denmark and Norway. Sweden cooperates and Finland begs for help.
5
@hermitoldguy6312 You can always go further into socialism. Unlike Hitler, Urho Kekkonen was an isolationist nazbol. A spearhead unit in Southern Finland was the first to receive automatic weapons, in the summer of 1968. https://images.cdn.yle.fi/image/upload//w_1200,h_800,f_auto,fl_lossy,q_auto:eco/13-3-10248062.jpg

Mannerheim gave a written notice to Germany that Finns do not participate in the siege. They never even made a plan to conquer Leningrad. Take a look at A.F Airo's interview (1978) on youtube if you understand Finnish. Airo was the virtual second-in-command and main strategic planner during the Continuation War.
5
I just watched The Last Vermeer (2019). Quite a well-balanced account of the Allied occupation outside Germany, which eventually turned into an alliance. James H. Magill traveled to Helsinki in October 1944. Since only a few prison sentences were given in Finland, their task was to inspect warehouses and dump illegal weapons in lakes.

Money printer go brrr..brrr
5
@mibamoeba He was wrong. The Afghans showed how to defeat the Red Army without material superiority. It's a matter of willpower.Result: Mujahideen victory https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet–Afghan_War
5
@aararqaae6451 I love freedom-loving Americans who were not racists, especially in the 1950s. https://youtu.be/iGnUiF-JAlc

They are socialists. That's why it was a mainstream ideology in the 20th century. People like Helmut Schmidt and François Mitterrand found themselves in "complete agreement" on foreign policy matters. Newly accessible documents from 1942 praise his "Impeccable national-socialist [Nazi] behaviour", and in 1944 his superiors mentioned that Schmidt "stands the ground of national-socialist ideology.

@Gew219 Describing Poles as collaborators
5
@TheImperatorKnight However, Nazism was a religious (to varying degrees) and totalitarian center-left ideology, not communism. It was perfectly logical to go on a crusade against non-religious Bolsheviks. In economic terms the Wehrmacht was no different from the US Army, which also made use of conscription. https://youtu.be/tFwhFqaymdI
5
@elliotsmith1622 Exactly. In Tali-Ihantala, one group of five soldiers (armed with bolt-action rifles) was left behind by a retreating main force as hundreds of Soviet soldiers rushed past them. In that situation, this joke about an "Asiatic Horde" wouldn't be funny.
5
@fritz1816 Finland also declared war on Germany. My grandpa was demobilized, and he lived south of the demarcation line, so he didn't even lose property. Granted, Germany was losing ground at the time.
5
Due to geography, explained in the previous video. They had a tight schedule. Btw Napoleon and Alexander did it. That is why Sweden has The House of Bernadotte. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treaties_of_Tilsit
5
@BrotherAlpha No dictatorship is on a sustainable footing, regardless of the governance model. Which is why we rarely hear about the good deeds of National Socialism. Toward the end of the war, from December 1944 onwards, Helmut Schmidt served as an Oberleutnant in the Flakartillery on the Western Front during the Battle of the Bulge. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Organization_for_Security_and_Co-operation_in_Europe#History

If you leave your front door wide open, you invite intruders. There ain't no such thing as a free lunch.
5
@melrakan The Soviet Union also participated in the Holocaust by killing 22 Jews who served in the Finnish army. https://tinyurl.com/y2j3yzca
5
@halflifeapc8777 Finland exists. RIP USSR. Case closed 😜
5
I am not so sure. It would have ended in a stalemate somewhere further east. I would argue that willpower turns water into oil. A Finnish man just pedaled from Hanko to Nuorgam, 1445 kilometers in less than 61 hours. In 1969, the Finnish army had almost the same equipment as in the 1940s. Excluding the so-called cucumber salad uniforms. https://www.reservilainen.fi/files/440/800/2632-69.jpg

@dragosstanciu9866 Basically, the format of this channel is: My dad is better than your dad, and you are a wehraboo socialist Nazi..lol. Very civilized.
4
I love how they executed junior nazies, but released the generals from prison.Btw Steiner starred in "Aseveljeyden sankarit" (1943). Unfortunately, it's available just for us Finnish-speaking adults lol Finnish wiki: Steiner is considered one of the most skilled SS generals. As a person, he was easy-going and liked among his subordinates. There was a strong mutual respect between Steiner and his men. They should add, good husband material.
4
Paris and Brussels were declared open cities.
4
Fortunately, in real life Stalin was suffocated with a pillow. Both Nazi Karl-Erik Ladau and Communist Hertta Kuusinen supported Urho Kekkonen in 1968. The horseshoe theory? Churchill spoke out against prosecuting any further German generals, as he felt it would interfere with the process of reconciliation with Germany.
4
But in the end, they made peace. So a peace treaty would make sense in 1943. https://youtu.be/sIk8dS70uUQ

Finnish battalion (5th SS Panzer Division Wiking) was situated south of Stalingrad. Although in Finland they were scattered, most ended up in Tornio. Detachment Törni was probably in Medvezhyegorsk, 2000 km northwest.
