Housing and shortage of accommodation. State houses were introduced a long time ago to help bridge the shortfall. In the period 1993 to 2000 the number of state houses decreased from 69,000 to 59,000. In the period 2009 to 2017, state housing decreased by 2,000 again. Nationals track record. Labour added 5,000 during 2000 to 2009. Also Labour added 12,000 during 2017 to 2023. If National had not reduced the number of state houses, we would have 12,000 more homes now. If they had constructed half the 17,000 built by Labour. Their would be close to 20,000 more homes.
This shows a difference between Labour and National/Act.
