  2.  @555atU  The fact that Darwin didn't know of the existence of DNA, make his theory more compelling. Although, it wasn't necessary to understand heredity. Mendel took care of that. You can breed animals based on their discernible qualities. You don't need to know about their DNA. Humans have been doing this for thousands of years, to produce animals with desired features. No theory is not subject to refinement. That's the whole point of science. To modify our understanding, as new knowledge emerges. Of course, Darwin had doubts. When you've made such a profound discovery, it would be wrong not to. What if he had been wrong? His career would have been finished. He even held off publishing his findings, but was forced to by others like Wallace, who were about publish their version of the theory also.

Yet you want to promote his/her/its vengeful side. I see that you're running away. However, this is something to expect, when you know that the evidence is not on your side. Evidence which make your alleged god more irrelevant every day. If the god of the gaps gets any smaller, it will disappear for you too, at some point.

Theories supported by the scientific consensus have the highest level of certainty of any scientific knowledge; for example, that all objects are subject to gravity or that life on Earth evolved from a common ancestor. Still confused?

  33.  @ericseitzler81  I probably know more about your old book, than most of those who pretend to believe in it. That's usually the way it is. It's because those who believe in reason, logic, and facts to determine truth. Tend to do their research. Of course, the unknown men (women were kept illiterate), who wrote the book were ignorant. All people a couple of thousand years ago knew almost nothing about the world and their surroundings. It wasn't their fault. They just didn't know any better. Darwin worked on his theory of evolution for several decades, before publishing his evidence. This was just a century and a half ago. This was already in the post-enlightenment era, where great advances had been made in the field of science. Since then his theory has been tested and improved upon constantly, and will always be, as new facts are uncovered. Still after all this. Darwin's theory still holds true. Along with Newton, his theory of evolution are probably the greatest contributions to the advancement of knowledge in human history.
