My main complaint with Calhoun, which I have stated several times in comments, is that he supported Muilenburg too long, until it was no longer possible, before removing him. I thought Muilenburg was a problem the first time I heard him speak after the Lion Air crash.

  12. Comments like this are so ignorant. The booking photo is not the first priority and is not taken until someone is formally booked. Even then, some jurisdictions do not routinely release booking photos. From a news standpoint, the first thing of interest is general description of what happened, as was given here. As it turns out, the booking photo has been taken and released and can be found online easily. There is no need to get into high dudgeon over the procedures of the Washington County sheriff.

This is not too different from his statement here. Reuters uses the word “target,” but it is their word. They are not quoting Elwell. I don’t interpret this article to suggest the FAA is “eager” to clear the Max for flight. I think they expect to be ready by late June, but do not have a target date. They will be ready when they complete the work needed to ensure the aircraft is safe to fly.
