  7. A “black box” is a device that performs a defined function, but in a way that is hidden from view. There have been several technologies used for these recorders, but they are equivalent. There is something inside the cylinder that holds the data, and we don’t need to know what it is. The people who recover the data must know, of course.

Had he served his sentence (less than 20 with good behavior) he would have had plenty of time left to live as a free man. Instead, he lived as a fugitive and was caught with little time remaining. His choice. If he is released before he dies, it will be by an act of clemency by the governor. That is the proper place to make the decision, not in the Marshal’s Service.
