  5. She is scheduled to give up her Senate seat tomorrow (Monday). It is not unusual to hold a seat until shortly before assuming a new office. In this case, there were some important Senate votes in which she wanted to participate. Another factor is when her replacement will be ready to take over the seat. Keep in mind that the Senate is tied.

  15. As she stated in another video, they alternated flying the airplane as needed during the emergency. It doesn't matter who was flying at that point. I expect that she, as captain, flew the landing, though, as it is protocol.

When two de Havilland Comets fell into the Mediterranean Sea in 1954, the aircraft type was grounded immediately after each crash, without waiting for the remains to be retrieved, let alone analyzed. Flights were resumed after the first incident, but the second led to cancellation of the certification and the plane had to be redesigned. The B737 Max won’t need to be redesigned, but it does need to be fixed. But my point here is that by this precedent, you don’t need to have the explanation of the crash worked out in order to ground an aircraft.
