@RZakelis my point? Just like in case of Yugoslavia, there was one set of rules and then these rules were changed. Ukraine had it's borders in 2014. They didn't like that so the lost Crimea. Ukraine was mostly unharmed, they didn't like that, now they have what they have. On possible reason: right to self determination. Borders are irrelevant in such cases.

@cheztaylor8 I don't know technical details, but it is specific type of fuel. I know that nuclear fuel is not like coal or gasoline, there are many types for different types of reactors. Not directly related to Russia, but US didn't sanction China for gallium, but China effectively sanction US for it. And nobody in US administration ever thought about importance of gallium, unlike lithium which is very popular in media. Scythes are essential for next Children of the Corn movie!

@georgedone7997 sorry, question was about non end consumer goods. Do you ever bought industrial equipment made in Germany or any other country? The answer is: no. But that doesn't mean such market is irrelevant. Here is another bet: you never bought semiconductor grade silicon or processing machines. Does that make silicon chips irrelevant? You are free to make your own judgements.

@roelkomduur8073 given enough time, many countries will understand that if they are going to buy something what will be destroyed, it is better to spend less money or to get more for same money. The only thing which saved NATO provided tank for mass destruction in Ukraine is small number of them. Now be prepared to watch how F-16s dodge both air to air and surface to air missiles... or not and thus fall down to join existing NATO equipment in Russian exhibition.

@EconLessons dude, if you check official data for last 10+ years, you can call Ukraine "breadbasket of Europe", but Russia has much larger production and larger export of wheat. "Russian gain uses heavy chemicals", do you have any proof for that? What chemicals? Fertilizers? GMO crops use glyphosate. If you think there is modern agriculture without "chemicals", you are nothing but a dilettante. US food quality? So good that it can't be exported to EU. Milk with 10 times more aflatoxin than in EU etc.

Nuclear fission - Russia created working (not experimental) fast neutron reactor. That type of reactors can "burn" nuclear waste, even material like depleted uranium. It was tragic to believe to West, especially US. You say that if one of largest producers of gas, oil, wheat, sunflower etc disappear, that would have no influence? You call Ukraine "breadbasket", but Russian wheat export is over 2 times larger. if you were real economist, you would know that Russia has experience with democracy and all what came out of that "democracy", except US "influencing" elections in 1996, was rise of oligarchs.

@planetmikusha5898 actually chips are designed in India for huge part and some other countries (smaller players). Every major design and EDA company has branch in India, usually in Bangalore.

@planetmikusha5898 if you don't understand significance of EDA software and difference between design (& verification) versus fab plants I doubt you really worked in EDA company, janitor doesn't count.

@planetmikusha5898 you misunderstood that fab without EDA software is useless. Most US companies are fabless too. Does AMD have fabs? Not anymore. Nvidia? Never had one. Break single ring in whole chain, even for some unglamorous chemical and a fab has to stop. If your criteria "company is important if it has fab", then almost all US companies are irrelevant.

So please, enlighten me, how much time you have spend in field of elementary and special functions approximation? How would you calculate sin(sqrt(3)/2) in radians? @planetmikusha5898 in other words, you are "engineer" who had handful of math courses. What is your excuse for not calculating sin(sqrt(3)/2)? You don't know how to do that? Reasons for calculating sin and cos for large arguments? If you had any connection with electrical engineering, if you haven't noticed, there are systems with high frequency (various GSM standards, WiFi etc) and there are higher harmonics. 1E99 is nice test value to see if software was written by "engineers" like you, that is, to wean out crap. What did you say, sin(sqrt(5)/3) in radians?

@planetmikusha5898 just because YOU didn't have to do something, that doesn't have to be true for other people. You obviously didn't have proper numerical analysis and function approximation courses. If you had them, you would know that range reduction is very hard problem to do it right. There is whole menagerie of algorithms for that. Some people design such algorithms, prove correctness,optimize, write software and/or develop hardware (FPGA and custom IP blocks) for living. And yes, newer HP calculators are very poor in that regard. They are poor with arguments close to integer multiple of pi/2 too. All these are problems solved some 40 years ago, but... "i don't need that".
