  1. You don't need an adblocker to skip ads on YouTube. There is a bug/glitch in its website interface which allows you to bypass ads on a video with just two quick clicks. This works on computers and tablets. Don't know if it works on phones.

  7. Few months ago I wanted to show Lupin the Third movie to my GF, and since she's not from my country, we wanted to see it in English so that we could both understand and enjoy it. I decided to rent the view on Youtube itself, since it was available. To be fair, that sort of thing might be caused by licensing issues. YouTube may have licensed the right to show the movie in your country, but the studio which owns the movie only allowed it to be shown there in your nation's language. This sort of thing pops up with streaming services like Netflix. While the U.S. version might have certain shows or movies available, in another country it may not because another provider already purchased the streaming rights and thus Netflix can't show it.

  11. Few of the streaming service are profitable. The income from the rest of Amazon is what subsidizes the money-losing Amazon Prime video streaming. That is how the creative disasters and vast money pits known as The Rings of Power and The Wheel of Time got made --- they were paid for by the sales of the products on the rest of Amazon. It would seem the word has come down that Amazon's streaming service must now cover more of its own costs and can no longer as easily ride the money coattails of the rest of Amazon, hence the introduction of ads.

  17.  @AngelArm1110  And yet Sweden did nothing. Well, not quite nothing, they did impose some smaller restrictions at some points, but nothing like what was seen in other countries. Sweden has turned out fine, following the pandemic guidelines that every other country threw away in 2020. The one thing they did screw up was not properly protecting their long-term care homes, but then, pretty much every country made that same mistake.

  25. My question, Louis, is this: If you had COVID, why did you get the vaccine? You had natural immunity from already having had it, and as more and more studies show, that natural immunity lasts far longer than that provided by any of the COVID vaccines. Getting a COVID vaccine after already having had the virus is redundant. As to businesses refusing to become vaccine police, good. They shouldn't be -- it's not their job to be health police.

  31. It's worse than that. All the data was there in the spring of 2020 to know that the threat of COVID was being exaggerated. There were some knowledgeable people on Twitter pointing out how the cruise ship data did not support the panic, that the early data out of some countries did not support the hysteria, that the actions being contemplated, such as lockdowns, expressly contradicted long-standing pandemic response plans. Those voices weren't just ignored, they were actively denigrated by the "news" media, politicians, and public "health" officials who all seemed intent on fomenting as much panic and hysteria as possible.

  33. Endemic or not, it is no longer a serious threat in developed countries. It was NEVER a serious threat to the general population in any developed country. The people most at risk from COVID are the exact same ones most at risk from plain old influenza and pneumonia: the elderly. Through April 16, 2020, just two months into the pandemic, Italy had recorded 19,994 deaths from COVID, of which 83.67% were 70+ years of age. 19 months later, through Nov. 17, 2021, with a total of 132,342 deaths from COVID recorded, what's the percentage which were 70+ years of age? 84.64%. Almost identical percentages. COVID was -- and still is -- mostly a disease which affects the elderly.

So too was social distancing (people have forgotten now, but earlier this year there was a study showing social distancing had little, if any, impact on COVID transmission), face masks (there is ZERO correlation between mask mandates and subsequent case counts), disinfecting everything because the virus lurked on surfaces (a study earlier this year debunked that one as it showed the ability of the virus to persist on surfaces was much less than thought). And now vaccinations, once the golden child of ending the pandemic, are being shown to have considerable side effects and mediocre efficacy (see: Israel, Iceland, U.K.), to the point that booster shots are being proposed despite the COMPLETE lack of evidence regarding the safety and efficacy of such third -- and maybe more -- doses. It seems almost everything said about COVID by public health "experts" has turned out to be completely wrong. With every passing day it becomes increasingly difficult to believe anything in the last 16+ months was ever about health. It is either incompetence on a scale so vast as to be absurd -- or it is something far more sinister.
