  5. If this was done in the summer, I'd say Alfa had an unfair tire advantage. However, as it was done in the winter, in cold, damp weather, the BMW had a tire advantage. Those P-zero's are notoriously slippery in these conditions, while the Michelin PS 4S's are ridiculously grippy. Still, the Alfa rides far better than the BMW, it's much more comfortable, smooth and refined on the road, so even if it loses out on track, it's gonna be nicer to drive on the roads.

  10. If you think a 7 series feels "too similar" to a 1 series, then you've clearly never been inside either of them. One door panel on the 7 series feels more expensive than the entire interior of a 1 series.

It's the same, except it uses different materials and shapes on every single part and surface of it.... you CLEARLY never sat inside either of these cars, or you're just completely stupid. No other explanation for comparing the 1 series and 7 series. Of course the general architecture is the same, it's BUILT FOR THE SAME FUCKING PEOPLE. You wanna sit upside down in a 7 series to feel more special? All the switches are EXACTLY where they are for A REASON, certain dimension criteria has to be met to make the car usable and comfortable to use. It's why the ergonomics of BMW's is so good, and why the driving position in them is better than in pretty much any other car. I'd take similar looking interiors over a mish-mash of crap that most other car makers shit into the market, where every generation feels like it has no relation to the last, and all car models feel like they don't even come from the same brand.

  13. mattheginger They're not from the same category. There's a reason why Audi and BMW are more expensive, it's because they're better, in every way. It just so happens that here they used the most basic and underpowered version of BMW and Audi, with most basic equipment, and put it against top of the line Mazda 3. All the basics of those cars like reliablity, safety, solidity, refinement, quality, etc. is far better. Seriously...as someone who tested the Mazda 3 not so long ago (it was a 2.0l petrol though with 120hp), it's nowhere near as good as European rivals.  Something like Peugeot 308 makes it feel like the Mazda is a 10 year old model. It drives nice, but it sacrifices refinement and comfort, and feels simply cheaper.

  15. mattheginger First of all, I don't care about this review, because I've driven all three of these cars before watching this review, and I don't base my conclusion on a car over a 10 minute video. Read my last comment where I in detail explained to you WHY Mazda is not as good. Also....saying that a Mazda 6 is better than a new E class totally ruins any credibility you have, and clearly shows you're a Mazda fanboy going to insane lenghts just so you don't have to admit that it's not as good as you believe. Some people just don't have a gift that lets them see why a certain car is better than some other car, and they just stick to a few elements they understand, ignoring the rest.  It's like my mom saying that BMW's aren't better than Skoda's because she likes the white shinning gauges in her Skoda Fabia better than red gauges in a BMW 5 series when driving them at night.  Enjoy your Mazda's, better for you, you wont waste money on better cars. End of conversation.

  22. This is such an idiotic video, it's an insult to the viewers intelligence. Only simpletons (and car journalists, which is the same thing in most cases let's be honest)  judge ROAD cars by their lap times, especially in a stupid short, slow speed track like this. 5 minutes in an Audi is enough to tell it's a superior car to the Civic in every way. And 2 minutes in the M3 is enough to tell it's superior to the other two in every way.  IMHO, only  people with mechanical engineering degrees should be allowed to review cars.

Old steering wheel was much nicer, and the central console now looks bland and empty, especially the upper part with the sat-nav. Please Ford Europe, don't let americans work on cars that were designed for our market.

  28. Another Mclaren that can only keep up with the competition if it wears much stickier track focused tires. Hilarious. And I don't care if it comes like that stock and others don't. That is totally irrelevant. The only thing that matters is that it's not Mclarens engineering that makes it faster than competition, it's the tires. Not to mention that these same tires that give it an advantage on the track will make it useless on the real roads with surface changes, bumps, cold and wet tarmac, etc. 570S couldn't come close to a 911 or the R8 on real roads.

  31. Exige S? You want to compare a stripped down, 20 years behind in technology, bare Exige to a Cayman, which is a luxury coupe? One door panel in the Cayman costs more to make than the entire interior of the Exige. Let's not go into the fact that Exige S is horribly unrefined, uncomfortable, it's safety is a complete mystery, it has no sound proofing, it looks like a kit car, and if you look at the components under the skin, it's very primitive. Just look at it's body shell, chasis and suspension components...they look like something someone designed in AutoCAD during a coffe break and then hammered it all together in a shed as a hobby.  Porsche Cayman is far more advanced car, much better engineered in every single,  I repeat, in EVERY SINGLE detail, and performs better on track, and on the road.  Even the Exige S is a joke on the track. A 275hp Renault  Megane RS is faster around Nurburgring...and that's a 5 people, big boot, FWD hatchback, that also has 5 stars safety rating, 8 air bags, loads of equipment, and it basically a luxury car compared to any Lotus. Oh and...how is the Evota a 2+2?  2 + 2 of what? Toddlers? The rear seat is a joke, the only way you can fit an adult in the back is if you take the front seats out and cut his head off.

  34. Going from an Audi or BMW to a Jeep is a clear drop in quality. I mean, the interior doesn't have nearly the materials quality, build quality, attention to detail....it simply feels cheaper in every way, it's not designed with nearly as much depth, thought, care, whatever you wanna call it.  And it can only dream of the feeling of solidity that you get in German cars where everything feels like you can hit it  with a hammer and break the hammer.

Take it from a mechanical engineer who does know, Civic is faster on the track because it's horrible on the road. It's a compromised car. It's been designed just to post lap times. M3 and RS3 weren't. They were designed as overall great cars, who have to perform excellent on the road too. Your IQ (don't worry, you're not alone) is just waaaaaaay too low to understand that.

XJ is nowhere near as good as the 7 series, S class or A8.  E-type is not as good as the Cayman or 911 (and that's what latest BRITISH reviews say),  XK isn't as good as the 6 series or CL... so which car exactly did they build that beats Germans. And Nissan....where the hell did you come up with Nissan? They build one single car that can even imagine competing to German cars, the rest is economy rubbish.

  42. Now  try comparing how fast they are on a real road, with bumps, camber changes, surface changes, etc. Not to mention rain... :P  Bikes are only fast when conditions are absolutely perfect, and even then you're dancing on the line of being scraped off the tarmac with a shovel.

  49. Yes, RS500 was tested. It was 15 seconnds per lap slower than the Megane III RS which did a 8:07.  Leon Cupra R does not compare here because it cheated with semi-slick tires that gave it about 15 seconds of advantage per lap compared to regular tires that all other hatchbacks used, including the real record holder Megane RS Trophy.  In order for comparison to be valid, all cars have to wear tires of similar performance. This is like comparing an F1 lap time with intermediate tires and super soft slick compound...not the same.
