I remember years ago Keaton said in an interview he'd like to revisit this character some day, so it makes sense he's not phoning it in at least.

@nerofl89 Fox sabotaged it by changing the time slot and running episodes out of order. Whoever was in charge of the network must've really hated that show.

Mal: "What was that?" Wash: "We just lost a stabilizer." Mal: "How bad is it?" Wash: "Um, 'Oh God Oh God we're all gonna die'"?
57
Could be worse. At least Eric is still a male.
49
@Juliusiezure It's about zombies. You're welcome.
45
TOS will always be the best Trek.
39
My comment got deleted. It was about President Teddy Roosevelt finishing his speech after getting shot. I hate youtube.
27
"I grow tired of asking, where is the secret woke fan base?"
25
"Sure would be nice if we had some GRENADES right about now."

How does one make a parody of what is already a parody of itself? - Philosoraptor

Wow, she got trolled a lot. In Alien she did not know that thing was going to pop out of Kane's chest, either.
18
ABSOLUTE SCANDALLLLLL!!!!!!!
17
Disney doesn't need our business either.
17
@whippinsaw "Snowflake". Did you just learn a new word and now you're gonna use it on everyone to bone up on your trolling skillz?
15
Sounds like a drug. "I asked my doctor about Palpasaur."
15
@HermitKing731 He's into kiddie stuff.
15
@AIRGEDOK In 2022 he flew on Bezos' New Shepard rocket in a suborbital flight, and for a while held the record as the oldest space traveler.
15
Normie parents will still take their kids to see this. They don't pay attention to reviews and 'ratios', all they know is there is a new Disney poster on the theater wall and their kids won't shut up.
11
@whippinsaw I find your spelling errors offensive. Now, tell us more about the origin of "snowflake" as an insult, since it is your new favorite word.

@skiphouston7392 Rogue One was just dark enough, I think. Any darker and it gets to be too much for Star Wars. I say this as someone who saw the very first Star Wars film as a little kid in 1977 and have had enough of all this excessive darkness shit. Everybody dies at the end of Rogue One, that's dark enough for me. I admit I'm curious though.

@frazzeldazzel5445 Well to be fair, other than Orlok all the characters in this film are German but had British (or American faking) accented English, and the fictional town of Wisborg could just as well have been some fictional English town. I liked the movie, just saying. Ironically, the 1921 silent version has all German actors, but you don't get to hear them speak.

Drill Instructor School is one of the hardest schools in the Marine Corps, with a high washout rate. They are very professional and everything they do with the recruits has a purpose. They are also among the fittest men I have ever seen; they have to be in better shape than the recruits.

@EyFmS In what way does blowing millions of dollars and ruining the brand "please investors"?
8
@aamirrazak3467 I read that in Jeremy Clarkson's voice.
8
@ Found the light loafers.
4
@JamesRDavenport Drill instructors treat people extremely well. It may seem tough, but they are teaching you how to survive.
4
Kind of like Good Morning Vietnam, which is a about a radio DJ in a war zone. I mean, I hate Robin WIlliams, but it was an entertaining film I admit.
4
Her work here is done.

Duel is a good early Spielberg film, with Dennis Weaver. You will never look at a tanker semi truck the same way again.

@coyoteone6197 When I was in NCO school they used the scene where Doc J and 8 Ball get hit to illustrate how Cowboy made leadership mistakes with his squad, and how Animal Mother demonstrated initiative in leading the squad to try and rescue his buddies. When Animal Mother charged with his M-60, and entire classroom broke out in barks.

Up to now, the only thing I knew about Ryan Reynolds is that he made some movies I liked. If any of this is true than I guess he just another rotten Hollywood person.
3
Also, it's the only Vietnam War film I know where it's all urban combat instead of jungle. The Battle of Hue City is infamous in Marine Corps lore.
3
Drinker, this is the best postmortem for a beloved franchise I've heard yet. I raise a cold one with you from the USA.

@ He indeed understood the assignment.

1. As soon as I heard they were making a Mad Max film without Max, I decided they were feeding us another woke sandwich and decided I don't want a bite. Maybe it's not woke, but I've been trained to assume it probably is. 2. I don't even know when new movies are being released anymore, because I don't pay attention to ads and frankly don't care much. So I didn't even know this was out.
2
@magtafcmdr8621 The squad bay in the movie looked just like the Weapons Battalion squad bays at The Island, with the red paint and all.
2
From what I heard, Zeigler hasn't kept her proverbial mouth shut, making an anti-Israel woke statement online to spite her ever-hotter Israeli costar.
2
Sure, it was a dumb thing to say, but it's not like I was going to waste my time on this movie anyway.
2
Whenever I see actors acting like Kinski or Brando, being complete assholes to the cast and crew, it makes me wonder how they managed to not cross the wrong crewman on the wrong day and get the absolute beating of their life at least once. All it takes is to catch that one cameraman or carpenter who is having a bad week to begin with and just decides he isn't getting paid enough to deal with Kinski's crap.
2
Gotta love how we got the John McClane version of "Go way now!" And yes, you can never go wrong with watching Die Hard one more time. Here's wishing the best for Bruce Willis in his hard times.
2
@dlxmarks You could try it with your cat, if you don't mind risking a gaping abdominal wound.

Then he just walked it off.

This movie is both a great Lovecraftian story and also a great remake of DIsney's The Black Hole.

RIP Gene Hackman

R. Lee Ermey's performance in this film and his subsequent film and TV work led to him getting promoted by the Marine Corps from Staff Sargeant to Gunnery Sargeant even though he had already retired, something very rare for an enlisted Marine. He was credited with increasing recruitment and giving the Corps a positive public image, which is ironic since FMJ was not supposed to reflect positively on the Corps, and in fact the Corps viewed it negatively at first. Unlike other military-themed films of the era such as Top Gun, FMJ received no technical or other support from the Pentagon. Thanks to Kubrick and Ermey himself though, it was quite accurate in its depiction of US Marines.

@wojtek1582 Yes, the story works better if Deckard is a natural human. Though the ambiguity is nice. BTW in the book there's no question Deckard is human, but the movie makes a lot of changes from the book.
1
Wow, even more movies for me to not give a shit about!
1
This will truly be a movie that "sends a message". Get it? "Sends a message"!
1
@gorebunny Sometimes, you must choose: creep or gay. I guess we know which one you are.
1
I can't wait to watch this. I always thought Colin Ferrel was a god actor who accepted lousy roles, but it sounds like he hit the right combo this time.
