  1. Funny. Over the years, I've chatted with many hundreds of flat Earthers. Of those who expressed political opinions, the vast majority were conservatives, mostly MAGA. Not one identified as liberal or Democratic. Ask them yourself.

If you do, as I have, you will find lots of subscriptions to Fox news, Trump, Giuliani, etc. You will not find any CNN, Brian Cohen, or TYT. Try it yourself. Also, I've chatted with many hundreds of flat Earthers. Of those who expressed political opinions, the vast majority were conservatives. Again, check out out for yourself.

  17. Educated people have known that the Earth is a globe for over two thousand years. Eratosthenes measured its size pretty accurately in around 240 BC. And (most) sundials work by having a gnomon (pointer) that's parallel to the Earth's axis of rotation (the line going through the Poles) that casts a shadow as the Sun (apparently) crosses the sky. You can build one yourself, there are instructions online.

  20. Washington Irving wrote a heavily fictionalized biography of Columbus in 1828, and made up the story about his wanting to prove that the Earth was round. The book was wildly popular, and it idolized Columbus, leaving out the nastier bits.

For me, to research the shape of the Earth means observing eclipses, building and using sundials, watching shadows on the Equinoxes, taking the altitude of Polaris from different latitudes, and much more. For most flat Earthers, "research" means watching a bunch of flat Earther videos. I'll stick with my kind of research.

  27.  @conradmbugua9098  Unless you live far to the north or south, you should be able to easily see the ISS from your location. Times that it's visible can be found online. Why don't you watch it and then explain what it is, on a flat Earth? I don't mean anything going on inside, with astronauts, just the object you can see for yourself. I've seen it once on two consecutive passes over Vienna, ninety minutes apart. It can easily be tracked around the world, from city to city- you could get together with friends and do it yourself.

  31.  @billiehicks1864  Gleason's map, by its nature as an equidistant azimuthal polar projection of the globe, is perfectly accurate from north to south. But its east to west distances are all distorted, except exactly at the Equator. On it, Australia is depicted as being twice as wide east to west and twice the area of the continental US. In reality (as any trucker or cartographer can tell you) they are about the same width and area. And how are meteorites launched from the firmament? And why? Makes no sense whatsoever.

  44. No new technology necessary. A plane trimmed for level flight will tend to stay at a constant altitude, because it loses lift in the thinner air above it, and gains lift in the thicker air below it.

  50. Round can mean many things, including circular, cylindrical, and spherical. In the context of flat versus round Earth, it's obvious which is meant.
