Writer /Director is always a red flag and almost always a bad idea. They are 2 different jobs requiring 2 different sets of talents. Even George Lucas' Episode IV was only the success it was because he had close friends able to tell him "no, there's a better way to do this."
Taika Waititi should've immediately been pulled from Lady Thor when he said "the audience doesn't know what it wants until I give it to them." Translated, he's saying, "I'm such an egotistical narcissist that I don't care to understand what the customer wants." If you don't know what your customer wants, it's blind luck if you make the right product. You're throwing darts blindfolded after being spun in a few circles and just hoping you hit the wall the board is on, never mind the dartboard or actual bullseye.
What I like most about Critical Drinker's reviews is that he squeezes more entertainment and information into a product that has 5% of the viewer's time requirement compared to what he's reviewing. The Drinker understands what his audience wants, humor (entertainment) and information, and he provides it in a concise, useful format that respects his audience's time.
As it is, I was never going to watch Lady Thor. I can't stand the hypocrite Natalie Portman, the narcissist Taika Waititi, or the Abrams-esque over the top effects used to hide lack of story. I would like to thank the Drinker for valuing my time and confirming that this is a movie I didn't need to see and wouldn't have enjoyed.
