  10. I think he may be a representative of a western Russia-lover. Yes, he sums it up, and you show us cracks in his reasoning. He may be right about the devotion to the craft, though. We have those in the west too. Being devoted to your work and craft is not purely russian. I would add that I love passion for a craft. . As to Lenin, that may be just the opposite. Many people died in his day too, inside the country, but not abroad. Social democracy is not black or white, it is more complicated, annoying at worst, but still there are good and healthy practices in that way of ruling a country. . And I value crafts highly. I actually like that ;-) The man here is placed in a framing, a bubble. We do not know how it was put together.

  11. I can see the insanity surrounding Russians. While it is not life threatening the ukrainians experience it, insanity is heart wrenching. If it is some consolation, there are a lot of people who never are able to travel. Some are nomads, though. One option is standing up to your government in such a visible way that you are granted an asylum. .. Idk.. I have never been in that position, or in your position.

  12. Some commenter talked about reading between the lines. Well, I do. And I get it. I know about that caution that gets instinctive. Being surrounded by insanity, or treacherous squabblers.. I think you are brave. Talking as freely as you do. Something very important when being subject to narcissists is to live a rich life. Maybe this is the best you can do under the circumstances. You are not reckless or suicidal.

  14. I think there is some difference when it comes to imperialism. Russia is actually the largest country in the world. Israel can hardly be called large. .. There have been jews in the former roman colony of Palestine as well as beduins, drusians, palestinians. The situation is not as clear cut with Israel/Palestine. . I notice that despite being russian you do not glorify suffering. The sanctions are not based on principle as you are pointing out. . I don't think other nations have that sense of guilt towatds russians as there is towatds jews. I have jewish friends who absolutely do NOT cobdone the actions of Israel towards Gaza population

  17. Made me think of how we as students were received in the Soviet times. There was no demand that we change our opinions, just questions and answers about topics. I guess this was some of the russian hospitality. Compared to that, I get that the sanction reaction to these young guys are upsetting. More so to a russian than perhaps to a western european. We did become friendly towards Russian, and we excused a lot of things, thinking the west was too sceptical. I even hoped that Mr. Trump could make relations better, because of his experience with Eastern Europe. This is just to illustrate the high value of hospitality in russian culture. (Not only there) Hospitality and friendly recreption does influence a lot. So, yeah, Roman, you do have a point. BTW.. The sanction countries are wary of getting fooled, again. A war has many victims.

  24. Yes, and this was also visible before the invasion. President Zelensky wanted to talk to Putin, but Putin only wanted to talk to Biden. Showing the same attitude of superiority versus Ukraine. Ukrainians are sick and tired of that attitude, coming from more russians than their president.

  26. There were beryoskas were foreigners could leave their currency, there was the GULag system, there was a shelf with a ton of mintgreen cotton yarn in the middle of Moscow. (Not that useless luxury of white cotton yarn, who would need that ?😮) A young girl could stroll around alone late in the evening. So it was kind of safe. And if you started talking to locals about political systems, your new acquiantance would pull away. . I guess Ukraine, with a closer historical connection to Greece, has a better grasp on democracy. . As to unfairness in the economical system, there were thieves who got hold of the common goods and made it just for their own benefit. . Social democracy has the best of both, I guess.

  39. Wow, you did get dramatic responses. I did not completely agree with you, but there were three points where we seem to coincide. 1. The bombing of Gaza reminds me of the bombing of Mariupol. . Yes, good reason to wonder how and why. Judging from photos it seems that the demolition is even worse in Gaza. Or are ukrainian builders better craftsmen? Other explanations? . 2. Bombing children to death is horrendous. Especially when you know so well. ?? . 3. The similarity in explanations has puzzled me too. . I have been listening also to palestinians and israelis who are intent on sharing this land of theirs, as I did not want to add to the animosity. Despite the similarities I have come to the conclusion that the situation differs. One is the matter of size. The largest country on earth wanting to devour the largest country in Europe. Yes, Z-mindset reminds me of carnivore compared to one of the tiniest statehoods in the world harshly defending itself against an even smaller statehood. One wise person said that you cannot expect the opposing parties in a war to think humanly of the other, but we who are not directly threatened must keep a balance. I cannot deny that israelis feel they are fighting for life. There are mixed messages about palestinians, but there is no doubt that also are suffering enormously with a higher death toll.

  41. Not everyone wants to pay for your opinions, no. I did not make money on Y-blokka featuring Flexi Aukan. It is a video protesting the demolition of a highly acknowledged government building. I was in debt for a year after it was made, but I don’t regret it. Sometimes your opinions cost you. As a joke I wrote to the government and asked about where to send my invoice. That was just democratic action, .. no one to pay for that.
